Stress test heart scan

Common Questions and Answers about Stress test heart scan

stress-test

Avatar m tn It is important to remember that each test looks at different things, I mean, what would be the point of 3 tests if they look for the same thing. When you have abnormal ECG and or stress test, a nuclear scan is important to establish whether you have any necrosis (dead heart muscle). If the nuclear scan revealed that a section of heart muscle has died, then bypass or stenting is a waste of time because the blood won't be of any benefit.
1491262 tn?1288413065 The test appropriate for evaluation of pumping ability would be to analyze the degree of heart wall movement impairment from thd prior heart attack. Apparently, the stress stress was a perfusion test to view the blood flow at rest and during exercise. With exercise there is a higher demand for blood/oxygen and the test results would help determine the degree of blockage, etc.
Avatar n tn Had a nuclear treadmill stress test done while taking the test the whole time the nurse held me up from behind 2 hands on back because i stated i had back problems and as soon as test started she began this procere is this comman practice?
Avatar f tn Usually reversible means that there is blood getting into the muscle, but not enough under stress. When they do a perfusion scan, they normally do one at rest, and one with the heart having been worked harder and Nitro to open the arteries. So, if there is a defect showing at rest, then this would more than likely be scar tissue.
Avatar m tn the dubotomine stress test prior to the stenting said it showed positive for ischemia affecting heart wall in three places. EF was 70.19%. What was notable about this test was that I am perfectly normal at low and medium dose of the dubotamine. Maybe I should lust live like that - low and medium pulse? All the grim looking stats came at high dose with pulse at 120. That's high for an 81-year-old? It would take me a fair sprint along the road to get it up to that level.
Avatar n tn Never had any symptoms of heart problems. Just had a Thallium Stress Test as a precautionary measure due to family medical history. The stress test results showed an evidence of ischemia of basal septal wall. Cardiologist is recommending catheterization. Is it necessary? Some doctors say absolutely not. Use aggressive medical treatments to control cholesterol and blood pressure with 80 mg. aspirin daily.
Avatar m tn So if you had 100ml of blood in your heart and it pushes out say 60ml, then your EF is 60%. Normal is 55%-70% so your heart is still working fine. However, you can't really use EF as a guide to disease because you can have tons of plaque and still have a good EF. It just shows your heart is functioning well.
Avatar n tn yes, the time involved is not the factor, what is important is that you reach the pulse rate which they require before injecting the contrast dye into you. If you take 30 seconds or 40 minutes, it doesn't matter. They want to scan the heart when under stress which is based on your heart rate. I wish my first nuclear scan was as easy as yours, I had to walk on the treadmill for 15 mins and it was going quite fast and nearly vertical.
Avatar n tn for pre-testing for ablation scan showed alot of structual damage to the heart and my mitral valve has adhered to the back of my haert so they scrapped the ablation procedure because they said it wouldn`t improve my condition. My EF is 13-15 percent and my vo2 stress test came back with 14. Do you feel that I should be put on a transplant list if I qualify ?
Avatar f tn I had a nuclear stress test & they found "mild ischemia in the inferior apical area" with an ejection fraction of 75%-I am symptomatic with angina and SOB & take toprol xl and imdur but still have some symptoms-what does the stress test mean in laymans terms-thanks
Avatar m tn The stress test was stopped while monitoring your system and that almost always indicates there is evidence of ischemia (lack of adequate blood flow) and may be the result of vessel occlusion, and sometime it is evidence of an old heart attack The test is not very reliable for the conditions named, however, it is considered unsafe to continue without the possibility of injury. If you felt a little pressure in the chest that would be additional evidence for some blockage.
Avatar f tn My husband just received his results from recent stress test. (He is 36 y/o. Father had first double bypass at 37 and died at 56, so there is a family history of heart issues.) Stress spect cardiolite images decreased cardiolite uptake in anterior and inferior walls. Spect cardiolite scan was positive for moderate amount of ischemia of anterior and inferior walls. Comments: 1. Anterior defect/possible soft tissue/breast attenuation artifact, 2.
212161 tn?1599427282 I think, if you already a stress test and an echocardiagram, that a CT-Scan would be a waste of time, but you can't beat "free".
Avatar n tn What can cause an artificial or a false low ejection rate on a nuclear stress test 33%?
Avatar m tn Did you have a stress test with imaging? If so these things are about 97% accurate in finding heart disease. The next test would be an angiogram which carries a very real risk of complication and I doubt anyone would do one without additional symptoms. You may be best served by getting a second opinion.
Avatar m tn Maybe I should have not asked for the Stress Test and listened to my Doctor. He suggested we either redo the test or refer to a Cardiologist at teaching hospital As soon as I eft the office I went for a a nice 40 minute run no chest pain or shortnes of breath was noted. Should I increase my dosage of baby aspirin? do you think they will recommend another cardiolite test or angiogram? I think I might have to wait a while for the appoinment. What's your impression or guess?
Avatar f tn I had a sick headache, nausea and dizziness which just got worse during the day. My blood pressure 2 hrs after the stress test was something over 96...the test showed no problems with my heart, but my pressure jumped to about 200 over 100 during the test. I did not feel better until they told me I was dehydrated, even though I had been drinking water and juice all day, and I drank many electrolyte drinks. What was this? They had no answer.
Avatar m tn I have no symptoms of heart problems, but I have a family history of heart disease. Is a nuclear stress test advisable or is there another test that would be more appropriate given the fact that I'm asymptomatic. I understand that the radiation exposure in a nuclear stress test is 250 times that of a chest xray. I'm concerned about the risk of exposure to that level of radiation given the fact that I have no signs of heart problems at this point.
Avatar n tn Myocardial perfusion scan. During this procedure, you exercise on a treadmill or pedal a stationary bicycle. When you reach your maximum heart rate, you're given the injection. Images are made of your heart shortly after exercise and also a few hours later. This test shows how well blood flows into the heart muscle and can detect narrowing of the coronary arteries (coronary artery disease). Appropriate for vessel occlusions...ischemia that may cause angina (chest pain).
