Avatar m tn I asked my friends to carry me to the hospital but my the time i got there i was normal. I decided to go to a cardiologist wednesday this week and we did the stress test. I got up to my predetermined target heart rate of 191 very easily, no breathing complications nothing, graph showed everything perfect. When i sat down to recover afterwards tho i got the same flutter and told the doc to check me NOW.
Avatar m tn Stress test, Echo cardiogram. If still more tests are needed you might get a nuclear stress, MRI, or CAT scan. If et more are required you could be ordered to start getting invasive studies done such as an electrophysiology mapping of the heart or perhaps an angiogram. Given you are symptomatic I wish you could get in sooner. More than likely it's garden variety ectopic beats, but it’s shame people have to wait for insurance or not go at all due to lack of it.
Avatar f tn I, too have heart flutters. I woke up one night and my heart was fluttering and beating fast. It only lasted a few minutes, but scared me. I went to the ER and they hooked me up to a monitor, ekg, eco-cardiogram, blood work and all was negative. I made an appointment with a cardiologist 3 weeks ago and he thinks I may have a mitral valve prolapse, but decided I should wear a monitor for two weeks. I took it off on Monday and awaiting the results. I also had more bloodwork done too.
Avatar n tn I think your best option is definitely the stress test. That way the doctor is able to see what your heart is doing during exercise.
1296863 tn?1272569635 A stress test is given to help diagnose chest pain due to vessel(s) occlusions. A holter helps detect any abnormal heart rhythms. An echo can evaluate the heart's structure that includes heart wall dimensions, chamber size, heart valve functionality, right and left ventricle contractility as evidenced by heart blood volume pumped with each heartbeat, etc.
Avatar m tn Any state that causes an elevation in the heart rate (stress, dehydration, infection, inflammation, etc) can exacerbate/worsen someone with a known arrhythmia. Try to stay hydrated and avoid periods of dehydration as such. If you continue to have symptoms or feel that your palpitations are worse and/or associated with new symptoms, you should see a physician for further evaluation.
Avatar f tn One of them is echo cardiogram and another is a stress test. There are more ways to diagnose, but if neither the echo, nor the stress test revealed anything out of the ordinary, you can safely conclude that you do not suffer from cardiomegaly.
Avatar n tn Your heart racing, tightening of the chest, and faintness can all be caused by panic attacks. There is medication for this, are you on any? Best to be checked out and be sure though. Are you sure none of this is related to your thyroid problems? You didn't say what problems you've had. The test is an easy one.
Avatar n tn Hello, I had a question about my stress test results. My family doctor called me two days after my scan to tell me they were referring me to my cardiologist. I was admitted 4 yrs ago for what was concluded as false positive troponin levels and abnormal EKG. My heart rate also has run 100 to 110 most of my adult life. I am 46 and have a very heavy family history of lots of heart disease. I was advised to have this nuclear stress test because of an episode I had during a 5 k run 3 weeks agao.
Avatar n tn Since I was about 17 I have experience fluttering sensations in my chest (usually right between breasts under breastbone). I have had an echo done, EKG, holter monitor, stress test, and blood work done. My doctor says she is not concerned that it is a cardiac problem. However, some days recently I have experience a "flutter" every 5 minutes! Usually accompanied with these flutters I burp alot, have heart burn, and have acid regurgitation in my throat.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed on a stress test and event monitor with PAC's. My question is everything I read talks about a compensatory pause and mine feel nothing like that. I get them resting and during exercise and they feel like a very quick flutter, like an extra beat between heart beats. This flutter can be very soft like at night, or extremely forceful like during cardio workouts.
Avatar f tn Good morning, i am 39 years old and have had skipped heart beats for over 20 years now. I have been tested with echo cardio grams which show nothing significant besides mild lvh which over the 20 years has went any were from 1.1cm to 1.4 back to 1.3 last year July 2012. The doctor says due to my size 6-2 270 that's its normal to due to body size index. I did due a exercise stress test as well but that was a 15 years ago with the same doctor.
Avatar f tn Today when I was driving my heart started to flutter like 8 times in a row and i didnt think the fluttering would stop. It scared me so bad i didint know what was happening. I have had a flutter here and there before but never like this. Has anyone ever experiance this? Multiple flutters? What causes them? how can I stop them? Any recommendaction and experiacnes are appreciated.
Avatar f tn So, I'm 31 & never had any serious health issues. For the past few months I have been addicted for Afrin nasel spray. I only used it at night to breath. 1 of my naturals would close up at night. I would spray 2 time's in each natural at night. Lately this past month I have been using it more. I've been spraying 4 time's in each natural & sometimes waking in the middle of the night with one natural clogged up & having to spray again.
Avatar m tn I would definitely get more testing done. A stress test cannot tell the whole story, and with your symptoms, I feel it warrants further looking into. Did you ask what exactly did he mean by your heart being "out of shape?" Just look at Tim Russert as a good example, he had a good stress test the day he died of a heart attack! Be pro-active and look further into this until YOU are satisfied.
907968 tn?1292622204 Keep in mind that I can hear/feel my heart beat through my ears. Actually it's the pulse pressure differences in the brain being transmitted through a hole into my inner ear, and then into the cochlea and so on. (wasn't pleasant during the heart attack! And terrified me when after taking Lisinopril for the first time my heart beat disappeared from my ears. I've felt this many times during the last two years but not 100% sure it's the same every time.
Avatar f tn hi im a 23 yr old mum with 2 boys i was just wondering coz some times i get this feeling in my chest and it feels like fluttering for a few seconds and then it stops i think it happen 3 times today i have had this before and going years back i think aboyt 16 when i first felt it i have had that test were they stick all those things on your chest and listen to your heart twice but many yrs ago i think about 4 yrs ago my blood pressure has always been normal too and i have had anxiety issuses that
Avatar n tn I went to the emergency room approximately 1 month ago with heart fluttering. I was admitted overnight for observation and had blood work, ekg and eco-cardigram....all were normal. I still experiencing fluttering from time to time. My blood pressure during the day is 110/75, heart rate: 75-85. Upon awakening in the morning my blood pressure is high: 150/90 heart rate: 105. I have an appointment with a cardiologist in two weeks, but am very worried.
Avatar m tn I doubt an EKG would have any value, it basically tells you if you are having a heart attack or serious heart beat issues during the eight seconds that it is running. A much better test is a stress test, as it shows if there are areas of the heart that are/aren't receiving oxygen when the heart is stressed. I had stable angina for years, and would use exercise to monitor my heart health... if I felt chest discomfort, I'd slow down.
Avatar n tn I also had an echo which was normal other than a slightly enlarged left atrium (22-25cm). My stress test showed early R wave progression and some abnormal ST segments (whatever that means). Currently, i am experiencing bouts of slow heart rates and then fast heart rates. My cardiologist says I am too young for heart disease. I am overweight and smoke about 1 pack a day. Should I push for an EP study or a cath? Should i be concerned?
Avatar f tn 2 years ago was driving in car with kids and had a big flutter or squeeze in my chest so strong that my vision faded around the edges and I almost passed out- it made me cough and then I was better but went to the ER immediately where after a negative cardiac workup i was diagnosed with esophageal spasms- I did follow up with a cardio and had EKG, ECHO, stress test, labs all saying my heart is very healthy - the episode was followed with lots of burping and i had eated alot of spicy food prior.
Avatar f tn I went to see a cardiologist last Thursday about my PVCs and I'm going to have a 24 hour holter monitor and an exercise stress test as a result. He said he didn't think an echo was necessary as I had one 3 years ago which showed a perfectly normal heart. However my PVCs have got much worse in the last 6 months (bigeminy on and off for days) and I thought they would do an echo just to check. Is 3 years enough time for something to show up that wasn't wrong before?
Avatar n tn Since childhood, on occasion I would feel my heart flutter. It was never formally investigated, and I found that eliminating caffeine nearly eliminated the symptoms. Shortly after passing my annual physical last week, I fainted during the following blood test (fainting in the clinic quite normal for me following needle sticks). After fainting, my pulse was 110 and my BP was 104/59, and stayed that way for the 20 minutes the nurses insisted I lay in the chair.
Avatar f tn EKG, ECG, stress test, blood work, urine tests, 48 hour monitor, weekends in the hospital.....everything revealed nothing, all came back normal. continuously normal. nothing showed any signs of a bad heart. i've been dealing with all this hospital visits for nearly 25 years off and on. as of right now, i take chlonidine twice a day for control of my BP in my brain, i take metoprolol twice a day, lisinopril once a day and lipitor once a day.
1261692 tn?1328738107 i have had them for years and i am still here first you need to get all the test done to make sure they are noting but pac/pvc you need stress test. echo ,ekg, once they tell you your heart is stable no problems than you can relax and know they wont kill you, they will come and go and stress you out but at least you will know its just that and nothing bad going on with your heart.
Avatar n tn although the holter showed some palpitations, the doctor said nothing to be concerned about..and that my blood work, stress test and numbers are great...meaning great cholesterol and average blood pressure of 110/65. I do have hiatal hernia and reflux...when i get these palpitations I usually do have an episode of a burp or two. I am a rather small person with BMI of 21, and am fairly fit. I see my doctor in January. Do you think this is anything that I should see about sooner ...
Avatar n tn My cardiologist just recommended a stress test because I didnt have any other factors for heart problems. During the stress test my EKG went crazy and I felt slightly out of breath. No pains though. I think I freaked out the techs doing the procedure. After the test my EKG returned to normal. I had a LBBB--left bundle branch block. Basically the left side of the hearts nerves were misfiring as I exercised and got the heart rate up. Jan.
