Avatar n tn An Echo Stress Test or a Nuclear Stress Test, if the doctor is suspecting coronary artery disease. However, a regular stress may be sufficient in stable patients or those with a low suspicion of coronary artery disease who are being assessed for exercise tolerance (for example, prior to undergoing a structured exercise or rehab program). If you are/were experiencing chest pains an EKG Stress test is not reliable and probably should have had a Nuclear Stress Test.
Avatar f tn I have been taking 10 mg. Lisinopril for 3 years for high BP. Approx. 2 weeks ago, I started experiencing the following symptoms: thickness (pressure) in my neck & chest, dull pain primarily down my left arm, dull chronic headache, extreme fatigue. I come from a family with a history of heart disease. I had a stress test done 2 yrs ago, & everything looked fine. I am beginning to wonder if I could be a candidate for a clogged artery other than within the heart chambers?
Avatar m tn I'm just woried I have heart disease because all of my symptoms fit, PVC's,Arm Aches,Chest pain, and I have a RBBB and from what i;ve read it says that it could mean there is some underlying heart disease. And I havn't been living a healthy lifestyle, fast food alot and no exercise for years, and then all of a sudden I get pvc's and the rest of the symptoms at the same time. I havn't done anything to strain my arms.
Avatar m tn Each test is progressivly more accurate. An EKG is about 50% accurate, a normal stress test is about 65% accurate and a nuclear stress test is about 85% accurate overall but if you back out the false positives, it will find significant heart disease 97% of the time. Having said that, are you working with your doctor to find a cause other than heart disease?
Avatar f tn Does having a 45% ejection fraction on the stress test means one has a heart disease? Other symptoms includes chest pain, SOB when climbing upstairs, nearly syncopal event every time SOB and tachycardia happens. Stress test showed severely tachycardic, nearly syncopal episode on exertion and 45% ejection fraction. Ecg showed Borderline left atrial abnormality and the echo, according to the readiologist, showed increased in bulk. (Which was neglected on the final report).
Avatar n tn Would a clear angiogram 2.5 years ago and a clear nuclear stress test last year indicate good heart health. I sometimes get bad shoulder pain an I worry it is related to my heart.
Avatar f tn You cannot rule out clogged arteries without angiography, but at least you should ask for a stress test or stress echo test, as those tests may indicate coronary artery disease. You may have too low blood pressure, and it's important that you check the blood pressure now, preferably with a 24 hour monitoring. I suspect that your doctor initiated massive medication to control your serious hypertension of 200/120.

Avatar n tn I can produce a numbert of different opinions what is the appropriate heart rate and so on with exercising. The best method for someone with a heart issue is to have a stress test. A stress test is oftened done for the purpose of learning the degree of tolerance/risk one can safely do. The rule of thumb stated is not recommended for someone who has heart issues. You will be safe to engage in exercising according to METs.
Avatar m tn I have no symptoms of heart problems, but I have a family history of heart disease. Is a nuclear stress test advisable or is there another test that would be more appropriate given the fact that I'm asymptomatic. I understand that the radiation exposure in a nuclear stress test is 250 times that of a chest xray. I'm concerned about the risk of exposure to that level of radiation given the fact that I have no signs of heart problems at this point.
Avatar m tn ve been to the hospital several times, had 4 angioplasty, nuclear stress test, echocardiogram, regular stress test! My symptoms happen when im just sitting around. I was at the zoo the other day and was walking around , did 10 miles, not one problem. I'm gonna check with my doctor this Wednesday, hopefully he will have some answers.
Avatar m tn t get me wrong, this is not an attack on your veracity or knowledge about the subject, but I bet with your history of heart disease, that you published here, you had symptoms before you went for the stress tests and I just don't have any. Am I wrong?
Avatar f tn Hello and hope you are doing well. It could be a cardiac enlargement or a rhythm abnormality, difficult to predict. Need the detailed report to comment further. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn A cardiac stress test is a medical test performed to evaluate arterial blood flow to (and indirectly the amount of oxygen that will reach) the myocardium (heart muscle) during physical exercise, compared to blood flow while at rest. A 11 MET exercise is very good and it correlated to heart rate (120-age)...not blood pressure. Because you are a smoker I am surprised you can do 11 METs.
Avatar m tn To put this really simply, it means there is heart disease at work. Reversible means the blockages are not total, and no heart muscle is damaged, so intervention with stents or bypass will make things much improved. If the blockages are not severe enough, they may try to help with medication. I think you will be required for an Angiogram next to see the exact extent of the disease.
Avatar m tn a heart scan, a catheter, a 24 hour stress test. A few months ago I had a heart stress test (cycling, ultrasound) and was pronounced fit every time. The most likely theory seems to be that there is something constraining my organs in the chest area, so I do exercises on that area. But it seems to have no effect. Do you have any suggestions?
974371 tn?1424653129 From what you describe, it sounds as if you had a positive echo treadmill stress test, based on some changes on your EKG, as well as some changes in the motion of your heart as seen by exercise echocardiogram. Generally, the stress test is a screening test for coronary artery disease. The next step is a coronary angiogram, where they will be able to visualize the arteries that supply blood to your heart (coronary arteries), and determine if there are any blockages or narrowing.
Avatar m tn If so these things are about 97% accurate in finding heart disease. The next test would be an angiogram which carries a very real risk of complication and I doubt anyone would do one without additional symptoms. You may be best served by getting a second opinion.
1491262 tn?1288413065 The value of stress tests has always been recognized as limited in assessing heart disease such as atherosclerosis, a condition which mainly produces wall thickening and enlargement of the arteries.
Avatar f tn I am getting a nuclear stress test done on Monday. I wish that they could have done more testing at the time however the cardiologist seemed frustrated and angry, maybe not with me. I am really unsure why, actually. I'm very concerned and it will be good to get to that bottom of it. I have increased my fluid intake. Thanks for your response.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if stress can give you and excellerated heart rate, tingly/cold in arm and leg and make you have high blood pressure?
Avatar m tn Greetings, On 8-15-08 I was awakened by the perfect symptoms of a heart attack. I had the severe chest crushing pain in the center of my chest, pain radiating down my left leg, breathing wasn't normal, my teeth hurt, I knew I was (thought) having a heart attack but was in denial and didn't want to push the panic button just in case it wasn't. These symptoms lasted approximately 10-15 minutes. Afterwards, I really got light headed and felt pretty spaced out.
Avatar f tn Can someone please help me understand my recent Stress test findings: Images show mild intensity small-sized defect, located in the distal anterior and apical wall. Rest images show no change of the defect compared to the stress images. This defect suggests infarction vs. artifact in the wall. Gated SPECT imaging demonstates abnormal septal motion of the distal anterior and apical wall. The left ventricular ejection fraction was calculated to be 56%.

1085002 tn?1256414949 I went to m doctor for a check up, and she did an EKG and referred me to a heart doctor for a stress test. I took the first one, that they stopped because they said my blood pressure should be going up andmin went down, so they had me retake it putting in some radiation to see how things looked After taking that test, they found some areas they could not tell about so referred me for a heath Cath. I was totally SHOCKED to learn I had 4 large arteries that were 50% BLOCKED.
