Avatar n tn I had an echo stress test where the treadmill speed and incline followed standard Bruce protocol, but each stage lasted only 2 minutes instead of 3. The person who administered the test seemed very knowledgeable, so I assume the shortened stages were intentional. Are the results as valid as they would have been with standard 3 minute stages? I completed stage 4 and was told everything looked good.
Avatar f tn I had noticed that too, when im active for more than an hour like just cleaning my house doing laundry or going up and down stairs. It gets weird like hard, I started feeling that at 17 weeks, im now 19wks.
Avatar f tn I’d run for 1 minute, then walk, then run again for 2 minutes, then walk again, and so on and so forth until I was able to run one hour (5 miles) nonstop. I’d set goals for the day. For example, I’d say ‘Today, I will run 5 minutes nonstop at least once in a one hour period, then try to run 3 minutes intermittently within that hour for a total of maybe 15 minutes. I’d get so thirsty at first, but then I guess my body got used to running 5 days a week.
Avatar n tn Before I got pregnant, I jogged 4 times a week for 4-6 miles. I want to stay active as possible during my pregnancy. I am only 4 weeks along and I have been walking/light jogging for about 4 miles 4 times a week. I would like to know what kind of running adjustments you had to make as you progressed in pregnancy. And what your doctors have told you.
Avatar n tn My biggest concern would be a stress fracture. Stress fractures occurs from overtraining, usually from increases in milage in too qucikly. They can also be caused by poor footwear, runners should change their shoes at a minimum of every three months. See an orthopedist who will examine you and take an xray. If the xray is inconclusive, you will have a bone scan or an MRI. If there is a stress fracture, the treatment will be centered around rest until the bone heals.
Avatar n tn We have had a chest film and labs and will be going for an echo and possible stress test. My question is what is the accuracy of this type of finding on EKG? Could 20 years of weight training cause this or would the asthma be a more likely cause?
15695260 tn?1549593113 I have had most of the normal overuse running related problems in the past (probable stress fracture in foot, shin splints, achilles tendonitis, runners knee, IT band problems, hamstring issues) - but I wouldn't blame those on bad running shoes as much as training too much or increasing mileage too quickly, lack of experience, and part of the running learning process is learning when little problems might become bigger problems and the need for pulling back a bit before they do become bigg
8411000 tn?1464556711 s World has quite a number of previous articles about Lyme disease, too, so that runners are advised of what to look for. That is excellent, that the magazine is looking out for runners, readers, and also the rest of us who just meander. I hadn't known of this resource before. Thanks again!
Avatar f tn If the muscle is regularly subject to an even greater dynamic, eccentric contraction than during the intended exercise, it will become more capable of handling the ordinary amount of stress. Experienced long-distance runners practice controlled downhill running as a part of training, which places greater eccentric loads on the quadriceps as well as on the shins. A physical therapist, athletic trainer, or doctor should be consulted before engaging in this type of training.
244602 tn?1215975628 The addition of the pain sets warning flags, and a Nuclear Stress or Echo Stress would likely be warranted. I would have assumed that the Nuclear Stress was more conclusive, but have since read otherwise, both techniques yield similar results in most people and the Stress Echo has an added advantage of imaging blood flow and valves. Either test would be aborted upon EKG indications of undue stress on the heart or the occurrence of certain rhythm disturbances.
Avatar m tn Hi, My Student Industrial Team and I have come up with a device that relieves knee pain for those with runner's knee and the elderly as well. It utilizes pressure plates on the sides of the knee that help to stabilize and decrease the pain. What's your take?
Avatar n tn s office is trying to get the MRI approved through my insurance. BTW during the stress test my BP was 110/70 at rest. The entire test was successful meaning the doctor's didn't find any skipped heart beats or palpitations. The doctor told me not to worry, he didn't even feel i should go for a CT test due to the radiation, and he said to continue to exercise (running and soccer).
Avatar n tn its about the size of a quarter but there in not a knot there and the part about an inch around it is a little tender. This has been going on for about a month. Any ideas on the best way to fix it? Is ice or heat better. I havent been able to run and its killing me... I really want to get back out there as soon as possible. Whenever i try to run the pain turns in to like a ring around the entire part of the shin. I dont think its a stress fracture.. any ideas..
Avatar f tn i walk on the treadmill nightly to release dailly stress, walking 4-6 miles on the average. In March 09, I have some blood test run by my doc., the CBC & CMP & Vit blood test indicate all is mostly normal, except for the vit d, in which i had to take mega doses of vit d to bring it up (vitd d was 18.4, PTH was 131) all ok now. Should I be taking oher daily supplements beides the usual daily vit pill & calcium that i take now.
Avatar n tn I can produce a numbert of different opinions what is the appropriate heart rate and so on with exercising. The best method for someone with a heart issue is to have a stress test. A stress test is oftened done for the purpose of learning the degree of tolerance/risk one can safely do. The rule of thumb stated is not recommended for someone who has heart issues. You will be safe to engage in exercising according to METs.
Avatar m tn and one other thing if there was something wrong with my heart would it have shown during the stress test?
Avatar n tn Had a nuclear treadmill stress test done while taking the test the whole time the nurse held me up from behind 2 hands on back because i stated i had back problems and as soon as test started she began this procere is this comman practice?
Avatar n tn thankyou for responding, yes had the test reached my target heart rate , but didnt feel like i had exerted myself enough to give my heart a real test, thankfully nothing showed, but wish i had some answers to the chest pain that goes down my left arm, and cardioligist says its nothing, well its not nothing its very disturbing actually put me on lipitor as bad cholestrol is 7 oh well if i cark it least i know nothing was wrong..
Avatar n tn My doctor has ordered a non stress test for me if I go over my due date. I think they just want to make sure that the baby is doing well because the placenta starts to age at the end of pregnancy so they monitor the baby's heart rate for a bit to make sure the baby is getting enough nutrients and oxygen, I think it's routine.
1822306 tn?1330522629 I have had all bloodwork, sonogram, and biopsy. The nurse forgot to make an apt last month for a stress test the Hepa ordered so now it will be another month before the Cardiologist can see me. My question is: Does everyone have a stress test before starting treatment? I am 56 and in good health, weight, and somewhat athletic. Is a stress test necessary? I am Genotype 2b; I only have to do six months SOC and was hoping to finish treatment before summer.
Avatar f tn Do they do stress test for everyone? If so when do they do it?
Avatar n tn I have had two sets of chest xrays done and they show nothing as well. I went in for a stress test and it appeared to be "abnormal". I went in for an angiogram and the doctor assures me that my heart is in excellent shape except for a very small blockage. I continue to have the tightness in my chest and the feeling of being flush. I have a blood pressure of 100 over 60 and a pulse of 72. I have had no other problems in the past. I am at a loss as to where to go next.
212161 tn?1599427282 If so, they can give you something for your anxiety. I had the treadmill stress test and I was able to take a xanax. If it's the other one that's a medicine induced stress test where you lay on a table, then I'm not sure. Is your Dr. wanting you to get this test done? Has the chest pain went away since you started using your inhaler? You know anxiety can give alot of us shortness of breath and chest pains.
