stress test for pregnancy

My doctor has ordered a non stress test for me if I go over my due date. I think they just want to make sure that the baby is doing well because the placenta starts to age at the end of pregnancy so they monitor the baby's heart rate for a bit to make sure the baby is getting enough nutrients and oxygen, I think it's routine.

Anyone know?

In a low risk pregnancy a non stress test or stress test would only be warranted if their was a concern. However diabetics (both gestational and non) have a higher rate of stillborn babies (still rare, but better to be safe) so its common practice to keep a closer eye as the pregnancy nears the end.

I've had a non-stress test done during my pregnancy. It's really easy and a bit boring. You go in, they hook you up to this machine and monitor baby movements and their heartbeat after.

I have a stress test today they put me stripes in my belly to monitor the babys heart rate. They did it for 20 minutes and they said everything looks good they said if they see something weird you can be there for up to 2 hours.

I got a call from the specialist ive been seeing for my high risk pregnancy saying that my other doctor scheduled a none stress test for me for tomorrow Im a little scared what might happen cause you usually get those atleast 3-4 weeks before your due date I still have 7 weeks. Since the beginning of this pregnancy I had a feeling that this baby was going to come early but not this early I will see what happens I might end up having a may or early june baby.

Hello, stress could really make ur period unnormal like it would come different day cause I have 5 days of missed period?. I feel that us stress cause I'm been waiting for a job like I cramp that's why I'm not really worried cause cramps means ur getting ur period??

You can test today but sometimes stress can totally delay a period. Give it some time to come... maybe a week and then test. Try to relax and don't stress too much.

non stress test is when they lay you on an exam table and strap on fetal monitures to the belly to moniture the baby's activity. i started mine at around 24 weeks. it usually took me 10-20 minutes but my 2 were super active and they got all the information they needed in that time. the tech told me some women were there for as long as 2-3 hours. so it all depends on your little bun and how active s/he is. if you have a good tech it's not so bad.

I have my fetal non stress tomorrow ... and of course I'm nervous. This pregnancy has had many ups n Downs. Failed first glucose test.. passed 2 barely. Fatigue .. depression ... etc.. sigh..I'm almost 32 weeks...

Highly accurate and it will rule pregnancy in and out of the problems you are having. So, what I will weigh in on is what you describe going on in your personal life. Do you think you could be slightly depressed? I ask that due to your comment that you don't feel like doing anything.

At my 36 week ultrasound on Friday, the doctor noted a slight increase in amniotic fluid. They scheduled me for a non stress test this Tuesday and another ultrasound the next two Fridays. Should I be concerned?

passing small blood clots may mean you are not pregnant. is it painful? it may just be an off period.
