Stress test for mitral valve prolapse

Common Questions and Answers about Stress test for mitral valve prolapse

stress-test

Avatar m tn My primary Dr. sent me to cardiologist recently because I was having different symptoms than I usually have for mitral valve prolapse and heart murmur which was diagnosed yrs ago. So after test stress echo Dr. says now I don't want you worried about your mitral valve prolapse. Than says the criteria for this diagnosis has changed and you really don't have it.
Avatar f tn t have it (used to be more like 30% of the population in the past). But even if you have mild mitral valve prolapse with mild mitral incompetancy or regurgitation it does not mean that over your lifetime this will progress. It does progress in some people however and you should be followed with at least yearly echos for now.
Avatar m tn 2d echo showed mild mitral prolapse, mild mitral regurgitation, mild tricuspid regurgitation. Mitral valve leaflets mildly thickened.
Avatar n tn t seem too concerned about the discomfort being ischemic in nature. He told me I have Mitral Valve Prolapse, Negative Stress Test and sent me on my way with instructions to come back in 6 months for a routine EKG. Do I need to insist on an Angiogram? My pain never radiates no do I experience any of the accompanying symptoms.
Avatar n tn I had a thalium treadmill stress test. They ended the test only 2 minutes into the test. They said my blood pressure went up and my heart rhythm spead up. I wanted to know how high my bp went up to and how fast my heart rate went up. It's the second test they cut short. I have 2 enlarged chambers (which two I don't know), a triscuspid leak, 2 little leaks in my mitral valve and the prolapse. What all does that mean? I'm 61 and have high bp and diabetes on insulin.
6031993 tn?1378848985 You might consider asking for both an Echo and stress test. The Echo could be compared to your test earlier, and the stress test would indicate arterial blockages.
Avatar m tn The mitral valve appears myxomatous. There is mild calcification and thickening of the mitral valve. Mitral leaflet mobility is normal. No evidence of mitral valve regurgitation. Tricuspid Valve: The tricuspid valve is normal in structure. No tricuspid regurgitation is present. Pulmonic Valve: The pulmonic valve is normal> No indication of pulmonary valve regurgitation. Pericardium: No pericardial effusion is seen. No pleural effusion noted. Aorta: The aortic root appears normal.
Avatar f tn He ordered a stress echo and halt monitor. When she went for the stress test the cardiologist said that her mitral valve has become severe and needs replacement. I need to know anything and everything about this if possible. The percentage that is successes, the risks, what more detailed surgery it would be because of the difibulator, etc. Anyone that has had this done please email me some how. She has gone through so much and now this.
Avatar f tn For some insight, mitral regurgitation from mitral valve prolapse is the most common reason for surgical treatment. Mitral valve prolapse occurs when the leaflets and supporting cords of the mitral valve have excess tissue, and they weaken. With each contraction of the left ventricle, the valve leaflets bulge (prolapse) into the left atrium. This common heart defect may prevent the mitral valve from closing tightly and lead to regurgitation. Mitral valve prolapse is common.
Avatar f tn 3 year ago I had 2D echo because I was experiencing palpitation. My doctor told me that I had a mitral valve prolapse. She told me that it is not life threatening. 3 months ago, I experienced palpitation, difficulty in breathing and chest pain. So, I went to another cardiologist. I had 2D echo again. My doctor told me that He saw something in my heart. So, I told him that I have mitral valve prolapse.
780665 tn?1239026549 Would an echocardiagram be the best thing to get done to see if it is a mitral valve prolapse and would it be reccomended for me to see a cardio electrophysiologist concerning potential problems with the heart's electrical system? 4. Can years of stress lead to an mvp or heart electric problems, and if so, are these problems permanent and irreversible once they develop.
Avatar m tn I m suffering from heart pain from last 3 months my ECG And TMT test was ok but when i take my Echo test its shows Mitral valve AML prolapse and LV function EF 57% my doctor told me not to worry and dont prescribe any medicine and told me to take lot of water , but i feel so much fatigue and suddenly pain in my heart and center of the chest , so plz help me what i will do , i m so much confused.
Avatar f tn Mitral valve prolapse does not lead endocarditis. Mitral valve prolapse is a condition in which the leaflets and tendon-like cords supporting the mitral valve weaken. The result is that with each contraction of the left ventricle, the valve leaflets bulge (prolapse) up into the left atrium. This common heart defect may prevent the mitral valve from closing tightly and lead to regurgitation. However, mitral valve prolapse is common and most people who have it never develop severe regurgitation.
Avatar f tn Here we deal with mitral valve prolapse dysautonomia (also known as mitral valve prolapse syndrome), which is distinct from mitral valve prolapse itself. Judging by your symptoms of fatigue, anxiety, shortness of breath, palpitations, and chest pain, I would say that it is reasonable for you to want to investigate whether you might have MVPD/S.
Avatar n tn No infection. I think it is prolapse.
Avatar f tn well ms betsy, i have mild mitral prolapse, used to have afib, I had an ablation and now have occasional skipped beats... but to answer your qestion, I had a colonscopy and an endoscopy both this year and had no problems.... the docs didnt seem concerned at all.. wuza fun summer....colonscopy and endoscopy...laffin..hope this is helpful ..
Avatar f tn AML is "anterior mitral valve leaftlet". That leaflet (front side) of the mitral valve appears to have some thickening. The mitral valve is a one way passing of blood received from the lungs into the lower chamber to be pumped into circulation. Mitral valve regurgitation indicates some backflow of blood back into the upper chamber. MVP is mitral valve prolapse meaning the valve leaflet doesn't properly close.and 12mm is the calculation of the degree of prolapse.
Avatar n tn QUOTE from MedNet: "Most people with mitral valve prolapse have no symptoms, however, those who do commonly complain of symptoms such as fatigue, palpitations, chest pain, anxiety, and migraine headaches. Stroke is a very rare complication of mitral valve prolapse". I qualified my answer with slight MVP. If MVP has moderate to severe regurgitation there will be symptoms related to low cardiac output...
1401138 tn?1280788265 Is it anything to be concerned about? I am scheduled for a stress test on Thursday. Thanks for any information.
414779 tn?1287059409 you might have a mitral valve prolapse just like me. all test are normal even the stresstest but my 2d echo shows that i have mitral valve prolapse.
Avatar n tn have you done a stress test? how often are your episodes?
Avatar m tn Sir, I have been having palpatations, SOB, extreme fatique, and chest pain at times, had a stress test it was normal, had a ECHO done and it showed anterior leaflet prolapse, what does this mean and what is the treatment for this, i do have a appointment with a cardiologist in Aug.
1256970 tn?1269451137 In 2008 I had an echo diagnosing that I did not have mitral valve prolapse. I am waiting for another echo, but it is through the County, and may be a long wait. How can I all of a sudden not have mitral valve prolapse???
Avatar n tn I'm a patient of "Mitral valve prolapse".Due to this is suffer from severe palpitations, shortness in breath, chest pain at occasional times. I suffer from very severe Anxiety or panic attacks , quite often , even on slightest of exertion or mental stress. I feel fast palpitations, fear, numbness, shaking of hands, dryness in throat and i get into "Anxiety" at any time, without a signal.
