Avatar m tn they have called it angina. but I have No blockages found. Chemical Stress test is fine. But on the treadmill have thobbing back pain between shoulder blades, caused by activity, exciting. nitro doesn't not have any effect .Blood pressure soars when attacks starts. what could it be. Have saw 3 cardio doctors Had the pain for 20 years. 70 years old. triple bypass done in 1998.
Avatar f tn I had a nuclear stress test & they found "mild ischemia in the inferior apical area" with an ejection fraction of 75%-I am symptomatic with angina and SOB & take toprol xl and imdur but still have some symptoms-what does the stress test mean in laymans terms-thanks
512736 tn?1211343352 4-16-08 at cardiologist office and had an angina attack and was told I need a stress test. I have had these tests before and it will be fine and 2 weeks later I am being rushed to emergency for stents. Why did this not show on stress test? They are expensive. Thank You for your help!
Avatar f tn test with myocardial perfusion imaging revealed mild to moderate ischemia involving the basal anterior septum and mid anterior septal walls. He is status post recent (4/7/08) four-vessel bypass graft with a LIMA to the LAD. My husband has been labeled a walking piece of plaque by his cardiologist. With his open-heart surgery being so recent, with him being diabetic, and he has never had any symptoms of his illness - should this recent test be looked into further by your opinion?
862553 tn?1239060736 Of course i had the ct with my heart at rest before the stress test and then after the stress test... But am wondering what you would think is possibly going on. My maternal grandfather died because his heart actually exploded and my father himself has had bypass surgery... so there is a hitory in our family all my sibling's take meds for high blood pressure and one sister takes heart medication already ... Could you please let me knwo what your thgouhts are on this ...
Avatar m tn since 2 years he has been experiencing BREATHLESSSNESS,at certain times. His THALLIUM STRESS TEST was done to rule out any heart problems, like blocks etc.The test results were good, with EF at 65 or so.but he still has the problem. We are confused what is causing the breathlessness. Some doctors say, thallium stress test is good enough, and we need not go for angiograpjy. We are confused what we should do.pls advise.
Avatar n tn I had a nuclear stress test performed. The stress analysis was suggestive of ischemia. The myocardial perfusion analysis was abnormal showing a moderate reversible ischemia. Shouldn't I have follow-up testing for blockage? (I was never notified of this by my cardiologist. When I called for results, I was told everything was normal and no need for a follow-up appointment. I later received this report from my general practitioner--4 months later.
1092315 tn?1256978793 Anyway we know her grandfather has angina and was admitted to hospital twice with suspected hart attacks, all of the research I have done suggests unstable angina but he claims to have stress angina, I was just wandering if there was such a medical condition.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone out there has had a positive exercise stress test and a negative stress echo test. My cardiologist said since my stress echo was negative there is a low probability of me having heart disease. I have been have chest pain with left arm and jaw discomfort on and off for 1 1/2 weeks. I am a non smoker, no high blood pressures, no diabetes, and good cholesterol. I am a 43 year old female. My father had his first heart attack at 50 and died at 60 so I have a family history.
Avatar m tn I am 61, female, had a stress test & reported diagnosis is "moderate inferior ischemia". What is the explanation (definition) of this diagnosis and what are most common treatment options/choices?
Avatar f tn I have typical symptoms of effort and stress induced chest pain since last June, but I had a treadmill stress test on last Monday and it was concidered as negative. I am not sure if it was really negative. The total exercise time was 7:16 minutes and there was a ST depression of 2,8mm at the 2nd part of the test. I managed to reach the maximum heart rate for my age 179, but I told to the physician that I had discomfort. Just before starting the test I had a resting heart rate 116.
1694311 tn?1306337287 My Mother, who will be 86 this year, has had this type of stress test for many, many years, without any issues. All stress tests have some risk associated with them, but there are always personnel on hand to handle any issues, should they arise. Just tell your Mom to relax and all should be fine. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have also been diagnosed with microvascular angina. I am 33 now and have had angina since I was 10. I had my first stress test at 19 and it showed ischemic changes. My cath was normal, no blockages. They did a thallium stress test, but gave me nitro just before the pictures were taken. The nitro was a revelation! Something actually helped the pain! Of course the test was invalidated by it since it opened everything back up. I found a good cardiologist who diagnosed me with Prinzmetal's.
Avatar m tn I did do an exercise stress test (Run on a treadmill while strapped to an EKG) and the doctor said it was fine.
Avatar f tn There are different variations of angina, and stable angina is the most common. With stable angina it is easy to bring on the symptoms because they occur just as you expect, when the heart needs more oxygen but it's not able to obtain enough. Stable angina doesn't occur at rest UNLESS the blockages have become very severe but the discomfort would be there ALL the time. You could be suffering from unstable angina.
Avatar f tn This means that a portion of your heart showed a diminished area of blood flow during the stress part of your test. Was your stress test a Thallium of Myoview stress test? These are much more accurate in detecting heart disease than a normal stress test. If the area has a diminished blood flow with no cell damage it means you most likely have not suffered a heart attack and the area can be opened with a stent, a very common procedure these days.
Avatar m tn Is there an agreement at what frequency this test should be performed? I had one in January, 2011 and the cadiologist suggested to have another one in January of 2012. I had a Calcium Score of 1217 - that's why I went in the first place - and no Angina. The first test came out normal with LVEF of 74%. Shouldn't it be rather every other year or even in three year intervals?
Avatar m tn For stable/unstable angina, angiography is the only test that can rule out this condition by almost 100% certainty. A stress test has a maximum 80-90% specificity. Anyway, with a negative stress test, and a negative calcium score test, unstable angina is extremely unlikely. You have some risk factors, your cholesterol is a bit too high and you are inactive. Do you smoke? Parents with heart disease? Blood pressure OK? Heavy drinking? When do you get symptoms? Are they worsening with activity?
Avatar m tn They admitted me for 3 days and taken so many medical/ blood test. After that they advice for Nuclear Stress Test (Thallium), that was done two weeks back on 7th Sep, 2010. but again physician advice to repeat the Nuclear test. Doctor still did not tell anything to me that either this is heart problem or not. I am so much worried that either I have problem in my heart or not or what is the problem exactly ? Can anyone advice me about my diagnoses, is that ok or not.
Avatar n tn He stated my symptoms could be psychsymatic He ordered a nuclear stress test to confirm his suspicions. He told me not to worry I am not at risk for a heart attack. The stress test was preformed 1 week ago and he called and wanted to schedule a heart cath. I refused to schedule any further procedures with him. The stress test images demonstrated the presence of a mixed though largely redistributed perfusion defect in the inferolateral segments.
Avatar n tn I had a thalium treadmill stress test. They ended the test only 2 minutes into the test. They said my blood pressure went up and my heart rhythm spead up. I wanted to know how high my bp went up to and how fast my heart rate went up. It's the second test they cut short. I have 2 enlarged chambers (which two I don't know), a triscuspid leak, 2 little leaks in my mitral valve and the prolapse. What all does that mean? I'm 61 and have high bp and diabetes on insulin.
Avatar n tn If your EKG was abnormal before the test, it would have been more helpful to have a nuclear stress test. If your EKG changed during the stress test without pain, the fact that you had pain before may encourage you to be proactive and ask for a nuclear stress test. Nuclear GXT pushes the accuracy into the 90th percentile.
976897 tn?1379167602 I had my second perfusion scan last year in August and due to severe angina I had stress induced chemically rather than using the treadmill. I remember that my chest felt really tight and painful and I was gasping for air for about 2 minutes. You can imagine my shock when the perfusion scan gave very good results after feeling so much discomfort. On 27th of this month I am due to have a stress induced Echocardiogram and I am NOT looking forward to having those discomforts again.
