Avatar m tn One thing I notice in your post is the absence of a stress test. Perhaps it would be prudent to ask for a stress test, then have a blood test taken 24 hours later to see if his Troponin has increased. You just need a reason, and without one you will be worried for a long time. Doctors will understand that. It is just as likely that this is a one of event that will never happen again. Did they check for infections? looking for certain white cell levels in the blood.
Avatar f tn I looked online and could not find a hypnobirthing class in the area. I did sign up for a Breathing and Relaxation class. I was wondering if there are books, CDs, DVDs that anyone would recommend so that I can self-teach the hypnobirth process? Thanks so much for any recommendations!
Avatar f tn I had a myocardial profusion scan awhile back but did not complete the resting part due to very bad reaction to radioactive tracer. It said" there was a reduction in the tracer uptake within the septum proximally and also within the anterior wall in the region of mid ventricle.gated acquisition shows no thickening or motion abnormality.
405614 tn?1329144114 One other thing people might want to check out is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, which is a secular, meditation-based program that is used a lot for people with chronic pain. This practice uses a kind of body awareness meditation and there has been quite a bit of research on this method (see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=pubmed&cmd=DetailsSearch&term=mindfulness+based+stress+reduction or http://tinyurl.com/83cltn). There are CDs available at http://www.

Avatar m tn These tests look at completely different things, so yes. Its alot to break down but basically.. Stress tests look at electricity and wall motion. Ct angiograms look at blood flow. Contrast mri and nuclear medicine looks at perfusion (how well muscles soak up blood). So you can have a 48% reduction in blood flow, resulting in a 68% reduction in pumping action/wall motion and a 20% loss of perfusion all in 1, yes.
Avatar m tn When I force myself (and as you probably know by now, everything we do after PTSD includes forcing ourselves to do it) to listen to the CDs, read the books and try to understand them repeatedly, I do better. What the CDs and their brain and body exercises do is try to replace the problematic memories with new, positive neurons.
Avatar m tn Consider using stress reliving techniques such as deep breathing and meditation CDs (. Stress often increases stomach acid and pain. You don't have to dedicate a room in your home to relive stress, just a comfy chair and a willingness to let go of negative mind chatter for a few minutes. Best of luck, take a nice walk while you consider that your body was created to heal itself.
Avatar n tn reducing the amount of reaction to stress is usually accomplished by meditation or stress reduction in the individual, but for a pharmeceutical treatment, most doctors turn to SSRI's. These drugs increase the amount of seratonin in the brain, and this reaction has the side effect of making you less emotive and therefore less "stressable." Again....very good question.
410475 tn?1262942367 Personally I would risk 75mg/day reduction while above 150mg/day, but stick to 37.5mg/day reduction for each step down from 150mg/day. When it comes to antidepressants, always get doctor advice before implementing a reduction program. As always, my comments do not constitute doctor's advice --- always see a doctor before changing any medication for stress or depression.
Avatar f tn Have you tried hypnotherapy? I do not have issues with PTSD nor do I have any experience, but I do have issues with insomnia and a deep-rooted fear, since childhood, of going to bed and going to sleep. Similar to you, I fear something bad happening while I'm not awake and alert. There are hypnotherapy CDs to help you fall asleep and relax you and there are also CDs specific for fears and anxiety. It wouldn't hurt to give them a try.
Avatar n tn I have a little girl who just turned 2 & due 7 Feb. I was two weeks overdue with my daughter so they broke my water & put me on the drip & I went into labour straight away. The pain is intense but the good news is that you get a break between contractions. I only used gas & air & just kept telling myself 'this won't last forever my baby is coming'. Luckily I was in labour for 1 hr 20 mins.
Avatar n tn Because you are so acutely aware of the adverse consequences of addiction, you probably have a high index of self-preservation working in your favor. So, let's get something ELSE on your side as well. I think now may be the time for psychiatric therapy, BOTH to address the here and now issues of your comfort and sleep and addiction concerns, AND to dig down into whatever it is that has you on the meds in the first place.
1448936 tn?1363206346 I've been dealing with a fear of eating since september. Before I had no appetite and never wanted to eat and literally had to force myself to eat. Now I get hungry and will start to eat but then get incredibly anxious about it. I get scared that will get really sick from it. I've been dealing with depression over my grandmas death in january and in march I started getting random bouts of diarrhea from all the stress and depression. Since then my fears have spiralled out of control.
228686 tn?1211554707 I have a number of Louis Armstrong CDs (and a couple with Ella Fitzgerald) I need to dig out..I love him..to me "What a wonderful World" is among the best..I want to pull over and cry evertime I hear it.
