Common Questions and Answers about Stress reduction breathing exercises

stress

Avatar f tn I have had success with breathing exercises. It's hard to know what caused the improvement though, the exercises or the reduction in anxiety I started to feel around the same time. Maybe the exercises reduced anxiety. Every night I sat up in bed and imagined my lungs were three balloons, the blue one being the top part of the lung, the red one the middle part, and the green part the bottom part. Then I breathed slowly and calmly.
Avatar f tn I don't know if this is any help, but I do breathing exercises that stress expelling as much air from the lungs as possible. Every time I finish the exercises I cough up a lot of junk and breathe more easily. Whether or not these exercises affect permanent hyperinflation (is there such a thing?) I don't know. But the exercises themselves are beneficial, at least for me.
Avatar f tn Try to find one who can teach you some breathing exercises. Nothing will eliminate this kind of suffering, it's gotta happen so you can get through it and not hang onto it, but you can make it easier and use it as a learning experience with the help of a good therapist.
1275919 tn?1279836004 m wondering if there are any actual breathing techniques that may help me get this most out of breathing exercises. Usually I just take a deep breath in close my eyes and wait a few seconds and then slowly release the air. Does anyone know of certain ways of breathing that help when in pain?
15695260 tn?1549593113 Learn relaxation exercises (abdominal breathing and muscle relaxation techniques). Develop assertiveness training skills. For example, state feelings in polite, firm, and not overly aggressive or passive ways: ("I feel angry when you yell at me.” "Please stop yelling.”) Rehearse and practice situations which cause stress. One example is taking a speech class if talking in front of a class makes you anxious. Learn practical coping skills.
Avatar f tn I've recently started trying to use breathing exercises to decrease stress. However, almost as soon as I start breathing deeper, I get a headache. If I continue the exercises, I end up feeling more anxiety, and a disoriented pressure/whirring sensation in my head. The headache can continue for hours. I'm also a professional oboist (wind player), and don't get headaches from that. I do get exercise-induced headaches.
Avatar m tn i would suggest therapy to start with. and learning some breathing exercises. there are alot of people who only go through this for a short time so don't give up hope. take care.
Avatar m tn Speech disorder will be recovered easily , when they are constant efforts from both patient and Therapist. Normally Breathing exercises and Speech training by therapist will be helpful.
Avatar m tn This way you will know how to you can deal with each one of them. Also do some breathing exercises, go for short walks, eat regularly and take a mild tranquiliser at bedtime. Hope this helps!

8761100 tn?1399725825 Wow that's alot to deal with. Maybe take a warm bath, yoga poses, deep breathing exercises? Maybe reach out to a friend or family member in your time of need, that's what they are there for. Also you could talk to a doctor about your stress and anxiety. Just getting it all out helps so much. And I'm sure they have ideas for stress relief. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Apart from the treatment, your mother needs to drink plenty of fluids such as water, warm lemonade, clear soups etc. She needs to do deep breathing exercises and eat healthy. Walking will also help loosen the cough and if she is not strong enough, then maybe she can do just deep breathing exercises. Call the doctor’s office and find out if steam will help. Is she does not improve, take her back to the doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn In most cases, these headaches are transformed migraines or migraines which eventually became more frequent and more like tension headaches. Massage therapy and stress reduction techniques such as breathing exercises and meditation may help. Regular blood pressure monitoring is also highly recommended. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Sorry, I keep hitting post on accident! The test usually takes 1 hour each time, but of your baby is sleepy and not moving much, it can take as long as 2 hours. They put this little buzzer thing to your belly to try and wake baby up, and have you drink apple juice and even eat graham crackers if baby is not giving them the responses they need. I hope that's helpful!

Avatar f tn Breathing exercises are one method to help when you can't avoid stress.
Avatar f tn Are you doing deep breathing exercises as a way to de-stress and stay calm?? If so, it may have an effect on both your BP and BS numbers, due to the fact that stress brings both BP and BS levels up...less stress, better numbers...but, as Zoelula says, check with your doctor...Diabetes is a progressive disease and it may be time to add oral meds!

Avatar f tn You need to use the right exercise and diet program. What you eat determines whether you will gain, maintain or lose muscle mass. Decrease your total daily caloric intake by 500 to 750 calories per day. A caloric reduction is needed to lose weight. You can find your maintenance calorie intake by using a standard calorie calculator. Maintenance calories are those needed to maintain your body as it is.
Avatar m tn Your anxiety is pretty mild, so I would suggest seeing a therapist who specializes in relaxation techniques and breathing exercises and meditation that will help you overcome your worry and breathing issues, but as said above, when you suddenly get odd sensations, it's not a bad idea to see a doc and see if something is going on.
Avatar f tn Whenever there is a sexual urge,do 5 or 6 abdominal breathing. Learn few more breathing exercises or techniques. If you can control your breath, you can control all types of emotions. This should be don for a long period of time. If you are sincere, you may get the result quickly. Try counting back wards is a simple distraction technique.Reduce your frequency gradually to once a day. Do further reduction in frequency to reach once a week.
Avatar m tn The Yog Pranayam (breathing exercises) will help you relax and also help with the weight reduction, only if you are over-weight.Do it seriously everyday, as it is for your benefit. Stop wheat and rice for 4 months. Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after 1 minute. One week after you have built up your timing to maximum you can start watching the weight go down.Drink plenty of warm water.
Avatar f tn Should Google it or look on you tube might be something there that might help
Avatar f tn If this is a new symptom, you need to let your doctor know so other causes other than anxiety can be ruled out. I only know of the deep breathing exercises, but stay with us as others offer advice and their experiences. I'm sure this has got to be very frightening, and hopefully others can give you some advice. Take care...
Avatar f tn I agree with paxiled questions and am interested in those things too. There are, really, worst thins to have a compulsion to do. You are essentially slowing your heart rate down and getting more oxygen into your system then. I encourage my son with anxiety to have periods of the day in which he does the deep breathing you describe. So, while I'd be curious why it is happening, again, it's not a dangerous thing to be doing and actually could have some benefit.
