Avatar n tn Do you take any supplements or natural products to help with your anxiety? If so, what do you use? How effective is it? What exactly do you suffer from mostly (anxiety, ocd, panic, phobias)? And, is there anything you do not like about it? If you guys could answer those few questions for me that would really help me out, thanks!
922573 tn?1304099329 I have significantly reduced the amount of medication since my operation. Initially, I was prescribed to take medication every 3-4 hours since I was in excruciating pain. I now only need the medicine twice a day to keep pain under control. The problem is, the strength of the medication is no longer working for me. Since I don't want to increase or change medications (as I am hoping to be done with pain management as soon as possible), are there any alternative methods to manage pain?
Avatar n tn Hi all. Question. Diabetes runs in my family. So I am obsessed with possibly getting it. I'm scared of needles, and its just become a horrible obsession. I started testing myself. Sticking my finger causes added anxiety. Fasting is ok. But after meals is always high. I did a glucose tolerance test, and came back well within normal. Yet high post meal readings continue.

Avatar f tn hi I am on high blood pressure medication can i take cla 1000 and phenadrine stimulant free supplements and a probiotic?
Avatar f tn If you are having any stress, then this psychological support will help. A healthy affectionate communication with the partner helps in decreasing anxiety and stress. Also get hormone replacement therapy in the form of pills or patches prescribed. Moreover causes need to be ruled out. These include anemia, diabetes and hormonal imbalance. Some investigations which need to be done are follicle stimulating hormone levels, estradiol, thyroxine and thyrotrophin levels in the blood test reports.
Avatar m tn Instead of going for supplements, try eating Fish like sardines, mackeral & salmon which are rich in Omega 3 fats & lowers LDL/Triglycerides & increases HDL. You can also eat walnuts & Flakseed. These have worked wonders for me. I had a CABG done 4 months ago and I have made sure that my HDL & LDL levels are with the required parameters.

Avatar m tn Probiotic supplements containing calcium are contraindicated while using antibiotics. Do not take them. They adversely affect absorbtion of the antibiotic. Probiotics are appropriate after the antibiotic treatment is completed, and are helpful in repopulating the gut with helpful bacteria killed by the antibiotic.
Avatar m tn Hi Kevin... It's correct that you should take your thyroid medication on an empty stomach and wait 30 minutes to an hour before eating/drinking anything else. The reason your other doctor told you not to have milk is because milk has calcium and calcium inhibits the absorption of thyroid medications. Calcium is supposed to be separated from thyroid medications by 4 hours; however, that's calcium supplements, which, typically, have several mg of calcium per serving.
Avatar f tn There is not really much risk if the levels are okay - except having to pay for and take a medication every day that may be of no benefit. Would not use thyrostim or other "thyroid support" supplements --- no good data to support this approach.

Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 24, a former ballet dancer (stopped when I was 16) with a stress fracture in the second metatarsal of my right foot that has not healed after 3 years of treatment and a possible new stress fracture in my left foot from over compensating. Why is it that my feet aren't healing and keep fracturing? I don't do any strenuous exercising like running or jumping.
325086 tn?1217971180 I am tired of getting mixed opinions about supplements and vitamins. I am taking antioxidants, the Berkson approach (Milk Thistle, Selenium, Alpha Lipoic Acid), plus NAC, C, E, B-Vitamins, Resveratrol, L-Glutamine, Omega 3 from fish oil. Some Doctors and Community members think this is overdoing it. I'm Genotype 2 and was a non-responder to treatment. So far, on this regimine, my Liver Panels look good........High Albumin & Protein, normal ALT & AST with normal Platelets.

Avatar m tn If we have something wrong that requires medication we take it without a second thought, but when it comes to medication for anxiety we are reluctant. For many, medication gives us our lives back. But I understand where you're coming from and do wish you all the best. Take care.
