Stress medication statistics

Common Questions and Answers about Stress medication statistics

stress

Avatar n tn A recent stress stest showed some new abnormality. I really do not have many if any symptoms - other than some occasional pain (very infrequent) and occasional cold hands. My doctor is recommending the cardiac cath - but he indicates that the statistics don't increase that greatly with having a cath and possible stent insertion. The question is to have a cardiac cath or not? Or is medication sufficient? Blood pressure and cholesterol are both very low.
Avatar n tn I have been taking medication for the pressure. I was having dizzy spells and blacked out once. I went to the doctor. They gave me an Echo and Stress test. The doctor said the opening and closing of my heart was good, but the stress test indicated I might have clogged arteries and he wants to do a Cardiac Catheterization. I asked if there was another way to know if I had clogged arteries before he did the procedure, he said no. I checked and you can have a MRI or CT scan.
Avatar m tn I don't think there are any good accurate statistics available. Stent implantation and design are continually changing. I don't believe that any medication exists which would help to reduce a 95% blockage, or millions of people in different countries would be using them. I think they were wise to use stents in your circumstance, it was a single vessel issue, not multiple vessels. I always think it's best to have the least risk procedure first, then bypass at a later date if required.
Avatar m tn the way I think about this is that when one has unsolved problems and anxiety or stress then the original symptoms of PTSD are liable to intensify. If I were you I would look at your life and try to identify your sources of stress and be more active in doing something about them as a way to prevent any suffering with PTSD symptoms. You are in therapyfor a long time and perhaps you have to refocus your efforts on the source of current stress.
Avatar m tn One thing I cannot find is actual statistics stating how many people actually experience these side effects. 1in 5? 1in 10? Anyone know?? Thanks!!
Avatar n tn Hi, I am hoping someone can help calm my fears, although I know my risk is not small. Over the past two days, I engaged in the best sex...several times over, all unprotected...it was amazing and was the most wonderful time, with the most wonderful person who I have known and respected for years. At the end of day two, I found out that he's hiv positive. This was yesterday. Last night I went to see an HIV Specialist, who returned to her office at 8:30 PM to see me and try to help me.
Avatar n tn Statistics? Forget about statistics. They are only an average taken of everyone who has the disease. Don't forget, if you are younger than most people. Most of the people listed in the statistics are elderly people who have many other things wrong with them. I take it you are otherwise healthy. I don't think you would fall into the same category as those in the statistics. With modern medicine, procedures and advances, you could live 20 years or more easily.
Avatar m tn If we have something wrong that requires medication we take it without a second thought, but when it comes to medication for anxiety we are reluctant. For many, medication gives us our lives back. But I understand where you're coming from and do wish you all the best. Take care.
Avatar n tn The doctor said I have at least two other partially blocked arteries, not major ones and have to have a stress test next month. Even at the time of my surgery, I was told my blood pressure and colesterol was ok. In my profession, I am constantly under stress and will retire in one year. I have a history of panic attacks and anxiety, I believe are job related but have subsided over the past five years. What are the statistics for longevity after having blocked arteries?
Avatar f tn Hello, so my husband and I have been ttc for a few months. I seem to stay stress free for the first few weeks of my cycle but when it comes time for my period or I should say a few days prior I start really stressing. Worrying if it will come or not. The most noticeable symptom is its screwing with my cycles. First month trying I was 4 days late, next month 2 days early, and now I'm very lightly spotting a day before I'm supposed to start which in 12 years has never happened.
Avatar m tn I understand a 3 month test is needed. I have read some doctors here explain risk using some statistics, and I was wondering if anyone could estimate my risk. A low number would help alleviate my stress while waiting for the conclusive result. I always used protection in the past, and have decided to stop drinking due to the nature of this bad decision. Have a wonderful day.
Avatar f tn Had stress echo on Friday, it was abnormal with chest pressure with EKG correlation. Showed that right coronary artery to be 60-70% block, not the 50% they saw on cath. My question; they were in my heart during cath saw 50%, how come they didn't see it at 70% that they saw with stress test... I think thats a lot of blockage not seen. We decided to treat with 'more' lopressor and a new med imuran, a extended release nitro... wait and see...
Avatar m tn last week I went to the emergency room with chest pains, they found high heart enzymes in my blood and a clean EKG. they admitted me into the icu unit and watched me for 2 days then put me on the floor for another day. the doc told me I had a mild heart attack and gave me meds and sent me home. he told me to resume activity as tolerated. I went to work that Monday and Tuesday and had the pressure again and my heart rate was irregular, so I went too a bigger city to the er.
Avatar n tn Also, I have taken up to 4 sleeping pills, with no results? It seems that any type of medication that I take in pill form does not work, but anything injected through an IV works like a charm. Can anyone tell me why????
667078 tn?1316000935 I had to have two pints of blood yesterday from my last chemo agent. In a few moths I will reach the three year mark. Statistics said two years tops. People are not statistics. Each person is different with every illness.
Avatar m tn Stress and anxiety can cause so many symptoms, it would be nearly impossible to list them all, but the ones you've mentioned are very common. To answer your question, yes, stress CAN make you feel unwell every day. And if left untreated, it can cause some very serious mental and health issues, I suggest you see your doctor for a complete physical and discuss therapy to help you learn to deal with stress............
Avatar m tn He said that taking the antiviral medication would only knock the percentage in half to 1% -- again, if I have no symptoms. He actually said showering before sex would be more effective than the antivirals or using a condom at lowering my chances of infecting a woman. This seems to differ with the transmission statistics that I see on the internet, which unfortunately seem to vary widely and rarely reference a source that I can read for myself.
Avatar m tn I recently read similar statistics. It is important for us all with Bipolar to keep our eyes on the goalie. Don't keep looking back from where you came from, but keep your eyes on where you are going. Hopefully we can change such statistics to a thing of the past.
Avatar n tn My son has nocturnal seizures now for 8 years. Was originally diagnosed with migraines which eventually turned into complex partials over a course of 2 years. He rarely has seizures during wake hours, typically just an hour or so before he wakes up. He makes a squeeling noise just seconds prior and then goes into a tonic phase for up to a minute.
11280340 tn?1416818620 how do you ladies overcome stress during pregnancy? I feel very overwhelmed right now and very on edge :-/ I feel extremely tired...
Avatar f tn Does my encounter warrant the stress I am putting on myself? Will the Cipro take care of any potential STD I may have caught? Is testing advised? I'm a mess right now with regret and can't tell what is real and what is my mind/IBS. Thank you very much for your time and insight.
