Common Questions and Answers about Stress medication otc

stress

Avatar f tn There are two types of OTC pain meds in the US. NSAIDs and acetaminophen (Tylenol). NSAIDs are medications like aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin), and naproxen (Aleve and Naprosyn). These medications help with certain kinds of pain, but cause great stress on your digestive system and liver. So, doses should be limited to advice on the label and these meds should always be taken with food.

Avatar m tn What's the best medication or drug to control/eliminate acid reflux? I'm currently taking Prilosec. It tends to be a bit pricey and I'd prefer to use something else less costly.

Avatar n tn Also, I have taken up to 4 sleeping pills, with no results? It seems that any type of medication that I take in pill form does not work, but anything injected through an IV works like a charm. Can anyone tell me why????
Avatar m tn I'D LIKE TO FIND A SLEEPING PILL THAT IS SAFE FOR THE LIVER EITHER PERSCRITION OR OTC ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Avatar f tn Just an update: Bloodwork came back normal. Thyroid, liver, cholestrol, everything "fine". I am under a lot of stress, but I've been under a bunch of stress since I was a kid, so I don't know why I'd have physiological symptoms now of all times. I'm not on any medication and like I said, I don't drink or do any drugs of any kind. The only OTC drug I'll take about once a year is aspirin. I monitor my eating and sleeping patterns pretty rigorously as well.
Avatar f tn Ibuprofen comes in a variety of brands from store brand (cheapest and perfectly fine) to Advil to Motrin. There is another OTC medication called alleve that women take as well for cramps. Always best to talk to your doctor first but these options are safe. And they work well.

543518 tn?1245322027 If you require pain meds your doctor should prescribe meds that are liver friendly. Lots of OTC stuff is really bad for the liver but there are some that you can take safely, provided you take them in moderation and as directed.
Avatar f tn when I was between 15 and 23 (around there anyway) I used OTC allergy medication frequently as most if not all of my friends had cats and I was suffering badly seasonally. By frequently i mean almost daily for up to a month at a time in the spring and summer. I remember vividly (as i was at my cousins wedding outside) I took some medication and apparantly forgot I took it and double dosed. I felt quite tired/weird dizzy though this wedding so I obviously overdosed.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if there is some type of OTC allergy medication I can give him to help him get past this outbreak. He normally weighs in at 14 pounds. TIA for any help you can provide us.
Avatar m tn If we have something wrong that requires medication we take it without a second thought, but when it comes to medication for anxiety we are reluctant. For many, medication gives us our lives back. But I understand where you're coming from and do wish you all the best. Take care.
1581202 tn?1296527842 Is it ok to take OTC Vicksburg cold and sinus medicine when sick during pregnant?
Avatar m tn I currently take Amiodarone 200mg a day, Metoprolol 100mg a day, Prilosec OTC 40mg a day. I have occasional Atrial Fibrillation. I was put on the Metoprolol in 2004 (my dosage is much lower now) and the Amiodarone in July 2008. I suffer greatly from panic attacks and extreme anxiety. My doctor prescribed Zoloft for me at 25mg a day for two weeks, then 50mg a day thereafter. He knows all the meds I currently take, of course.
565874 tn?1234563591 I would suggest you to learn some relaxation techniques like breathing exercises and meditation as you seem to be under stress. You can take OTC pain killers and mild tranquilizer. Meanwhile schedule an appointment with your doctor and undergo a complete evaluation. Take care!
