Avatar f tn I agree that being overweight puts a lot of strain on muscles/joints, as well as causing breathing difficulties. You might want to check with your doctor and get some simple blood tests to insure that you don't have hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, etc, as these can all make losing weight more difficult, as well as causing aches/pains by themselves. I totally agree that you need to opt for low impact exercise, such as swimming, water aerobics, yoga, etc.
Avatar n tn However if the stress is due to other circumstances. You need to learn how to deal with your stress. Hitting, kicking, slapping or yelling is not the way to deal with. It seems that you have reached a point where you are aware of what you are doing is wrong which is the first step towards change. To suggest a few things as what to do with stress is... take up a sport. Try Kick-Boxing, Tae-Bo, Pump... if that is not for you and you are seeking some more modest form of sports...

Avatar f tn Watch out if you are doing yoga ---many of the regular postures put a lot of stress on the wrist. However if you wrap it etc. and are very very careful yoga can help strengthen it. Yoga also helps with the "pain" and the stress of ongoing pain.

Avatar n tn How do I keep my stress in check? We recently started trying and I am having major breakdowns about once a month. I have been hospitalized with a pulmonary embolism and I have very irregular periods so I feel like I have too much going against me. And breath! I have an appointment with a RE in a little over month but need to at least make it to that point without another breakdown.
Avatar f tn i am 23 weeks and really havent gained weight however i dont think it is from the yoga i think its just me that im not gaining weight. I have a great instructor and it really helps with the stress and crazness of being pregnant. And its a wonderful bonding experience with your baby. I feel so close to my son. A lot has to do with the yoga intsructor, the way she relaxes the class and she knows just the right positions for pregnant women. I highly recomend it.
Avatar f tn gentle stretching to maintain range of movement is most important i think. yoga can be as gentle or strenous as you like and is also good for breathing. i've lost lot of arm muscle so i sometimes use a walking stick to help maintain arm strength. plus it takes to load off my legs. is swimming something you like? anything from wading to English channel you can do. exercise for me now is gentle stretching, occas massage, and just daily errands.
1063386 tn?1287878569 1. Meditation. Your discomfort leads to more stress, more stress leads to more pain. It is a vicious cycle. Meditation shuts out external negative factors and helps you "tune in" and seek wellness. Listen to a meditation CD if not able to meditate on your own. 2. Accupressure. The spleen 6 acu-point is for the general abdominal area. Do a search for this as it is too precise to explain here in this post. Also general EFT tapping would help.

237152 tn?1206651036 What do pain management clinics do? I know manage your pain, but do they have other methods besides narcotics? I have a lower disc issue that just continues and no OTC stuff helps, yoga exercises really don't do much, so I live it. But some days it gets pretty bad and really uncomfortable. Do they have methods besides handfuls of pills?
450257 tn?1268343617 I have been trying to get my mind interested in doing some light yoga. Borders has a book called Easy Does It Yoga that I am thinking of getting. Maybe if I put it under my pillow it will work by osmosis!
Avatar m tn experience with lortabs. The past year or so under a pain management dr. I know about Chronic Pain, it seems to be a constant companion and one I lived with for years before diagnosis. Detox has brought me around now to my honest pain levels and there are times when I know I need more than the otc pain meds that I take. I just do not want addiction again, it was a sad time for me.
5097121 tn?1466787392 When our bodies are feeling good, we usually feel good emotionally, so in turn, taking care of your body is very beneficial for stress management, for instance, getting a sufficient quantity AND quality of sleep, eating properly (including a healthy/balanced diet), staying active. Staying away from things like smoking, drinking, overindulging with food are a given. Minimizing intake of things like caffeine is a good idea. ---->Additionally, we have to set REALISTIC daily goals.
Avatar f tn My paternal grandfather, uncle, and father have all had AVMs, so it's in the family. I was born with a very large AVM on the bottom of my left foot. At birth it was slightly smaller than an egg. At nine months, they operated and attempted to remove it and failed, so when I was two years old, they tried again and failed. There is another large AVM in my left knee, one in my right lower abdomen, one in my right jaw, and one on the back of my skull on the right hand side.
