759386 tn?1324562124 I have tried acupuncture for headaches and it really helped to reduce the frequency of headaches... BUT I found that getting needles in my neck REALLY triggered extreme headaches and nausea and a lot of other bad feelings even though this is where a lot of the areas for headache treatment actually are located for acupuncture. I also get trigger point shots... like nerve block things, with needles full of medication, at my GPs office...
Avatar n tn I just visited my former pain management doctors website and he has two chapters of a book he has written on pain management posted on the site. I found it interesting that he said many pain management doctors believe that smokers are more likely to abuse their pain meds than non-smokers. I am a non-smoker so I have never been subject to any inquiry like this. Has anyone here ran accross this or believe that these docs may have something?
Avatar n tn t think it was anything. I am 25 years old and I am in an extremely stressfull management position which may be contributing to this condition. I have recently been diagnosed with ADHD and I am prescribed Vyvanse. I also am prescribed Alprazolam to help with my twitch, it helps a little but it is still unbarable. I have spent thousands of dollars in the last year & half on doctors, nuerologists, psychologist, counslers, and different types of chiropractors but nothing seems to work.
5097121 tn?1466787392 When our bodies are feeling good, we usually feel good emotionally, so in turn, taking care of your body is very beneficial for stress management, for instance, getting a sufficient quantity AND quality of sleep, eating properly (including a healthy/balanced diet), staying active. Staying away from things like smoking, drinking, overindulging with food are a given. Minimizing intake of things like caffeine is a good idea. ---->Additionally, we have to set REALISTIC daily goals.

Avatar f tn hi i'm new to the group and happy to find some info on IC. Avatar f tn Okay so I wanna test this theory I have. During my pregnancies with my 2 boys I had abnormal results on my pap smear however after pregnancy they were normal (so it was obviously just a false result due to pregnancy) however with this pregnancy my pap smear results were normal. I don't know the gender for this baby yet but I have a feeling its a girl. So I've decided to test the theory that girls give normal pap smear results and boys give abnormal.
1045086 tn?1332126422 A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water ? " People called out answers ranging from 8oz. to 20oz. The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it. Avatar m tn They include methods for management of both stress and anxiety, in addition to a good sleep supportive lifestyle. There's no good reason why exercise especially earlier in the day should negatively impact your sleep. For most people, intense exercise increases NREM or deep sleep, which is when the body repairs and rejuvenates itself. There's no reason to think you're any different.
Avatar m tn It is possible to continue to have a stress fracture over months when it is not given due attention and appropriate care. Conservative management of stress fracture should aim at movement restriction and non-weightbearing for atleast 6-8 weeks, while stressful activities should be resumed gradually after 12-16 weeks. The duration of rest would also depend on the severity of the fracture and the healing response. For severe or non-healing fractures, surgery may need to be considered.
17277382 tn?1455209810 with pain as my constant companion. My pain management medications make that possible. Without them, the pain would be too much to bear. Maybe then, with tear stained cheeks, bloodshot sleepless eyes, and a pained expression, I would "look sick" enough for those who doubt or simply don't understand. I refuse to give into those small minded people who have so little compassion. If you encounter this hurtful reaction in your journey, I suggest you show them this.
Avatar m tn I take it every 6 hours and it does wonderful for my crohns as I get 90% relief at the end of my last dose. I have never ever gone above it. My theory is if you take the lowest dose which for me would be 60MG I do not get 100% relief but when I get to the 90MG I get 92% relief from my pain. I'm proud to say that I have never gone beyond that after 14 years. Here is the problem I have been going to pain center for the last 5 years as my Dr. got scared giving me high amounts of oxycodone.
Avatar m tn If you can cut down your day to day stress the sympathetic system will be less active because stress is the major factor activating our sympathetic nervous system. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn I finally got into see a pain management doctor last week. For the past week and a half I have been having constant pain on my left side. I was slightly nervous about going to my new pain dr because so many people have treated me as though I am a drug seeker. I expected this one to be the same way. BUT, he was great! He stated that he has never had anyone come into his office presenting with this kind of pain, and that he didn't really know how to handle it.
Avatar f tn I recently had a stress test and was told that the results were not clear. My cardiologist suggests a 64 slice coronary ct to rule out blockages. I had no pain or symptoms while on the treadmill. He said that it may be purely anatomical as women's breast tissue can complicate the reading of the pictures. Coincidentally, my left breast was radiated for 8 weeks due to intraductal carcinoma 19 years ago. Could this effect the pictures?
Avatar n tn Is there a drug that I can use to reduce my stress levels while trying to conceive and taking fertility medifcine? I have this theory - my periods started being irregular in my final school year when I was 18 - and the year was very stressful. The dr then said I will have problem trying to conceive - which was true until I fell pregnant with my son without trying to conceive(a very stress free period in my life). That was 6 years ago - and no lucky surprises since then.
