Strep throat pain management

Common Questions and Answers about Strep throat pain management

Avatar f tn Symptoms of strep throat include throat pain, difficulty swallowing, red and swollen tonsils, swollen/tender lymph glands in the neck, fever, and fatigue. However, these set of symptoms may also be observed in a viral infection or some other kind of illness. To confirm if this is due to streptococcus bacteria, throat swab or culture and direct physical examination may be done. If this is due to a viral infection, it usually resolves after a few days.
Avatar m tn So recently I have been having throat pain, and i took a look in the mirror with a flash light. I noticed I have yellow stuff in the back on my throat that wont move( tried with a q-tip). My tonsils are also swollen and inflamed, they also have the yellow stuff on it, that stuff wipes off though. The yellow stuff looks like mucous to me. I also have pain in my ears, head, and stomach. What could this be a sign of?
Avatar n tn I recommend you see your Dr about this. It may be your tonsils or strep throat. It's really hard to say but your Dr should be able to find out what's going on.
215220 tn?1191456864 It started with a familiar pain that I had last year and the year before. The pain is severe. Starting from my throat in a specific spot it runs up into my ear on the right side. It also goes from my ear to my top and bottom teeth and into my right temple. I can feel it also from the roof of my mouth and tongue. All on the right side. I have been diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. I believe I also have Glassopharyngeal Neauralgia. It is so painful I want to cry.
Avatar m tn Seen my doctor and he put me on Amoxicillin. My strep cleared up for the most part (the white crap all over my throat). Throat is still sore and have ulcers in a few places around my mouth. Not to worried about that, what does worry me is now my gums are killing me. I cannot even tough them with a brush. No blood as of yet from them. Is this the last of the infection retreating?
Avatar f tn The sore throat could be due to an infection, most probably streptococcal or a viral infection. Strep sore throat needs to be treated with an antibiotic as strep is a bacteria. Avatar f tn I have a mildly sore throat that is presenting itself like strep with white pus on my tonsils (minus the severe pain, fever and other symptoms). Went to the doctor today and they tested for strep, mono and the flu. All negative. I tested for HIV today and also negative (rapid test, 5 weeks since last exposure) Wondering what else it could be? Throat gono? Another virus?
Avatar f tn I have gotten a sudden sore throat, started three hours ago, and severe pain in my legs especially the back sides of them into my calves starting in my buttocks. Avatar m tn m not a doctor but a sore throat with testicular pain can be caused by Strep B. A severe sore throat is one symptom of strep B. I had a vasectomy done in 1999. I ended up with a hematoma which was removed two days later during an emergency surgery. A small hole in the scrotum never closed, told not to worry. A year later I end up with a sore throat headache and a sore swolen left side of the scrotum.

280234 tn?1532986249 my HR was a little elevated. The nurse said it was probably due to the fever. My PCP swabbed my throat and said no strep throat. Then she swabbed my nose & said I tested positive for flu strain B she thought. She prescribed Tamiflu & said get lots of rest. I took all of my Tamiflu & rested & seemed to recover from flu. But now I still have a sore throat. The sore throat has gotten better, but is still hanging around.
1873691 tn?1320350220 Just a sore throat with white spots. Could it be something else other than strep? And if it is strep throat, can it go untreated? If so, will it harm my baby or me? I've heard about cases where people don't even know they have strep because they don't show any symptoms for it. I used to get it 5 times a year and it would hit me first with an extremely high fever but not this time.
Avatar f tn i would get checked for strep throat. your doctor will tell you what you can take for it if it is strep.
Avatar m tn Hey. I'm an 18 year old male. Two weeks ago, Monday the 7th I went to the doctor with a sever sore throat and was giving Augmentin to take for 10 days (twice a day). My throat was really sore, I had a 103 degree fever, and thyroid glands were swollen. Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen didn't do much to relieve the pain. The rapid strep test said I did not have strep throat, but after looking at my throat a few times the doctor believed the test was wrong and gave me Augmentin.
Avatar f tn What other symptoms are associated with the joint pain, sore throat and hives 5. Does the rash coincide with the joint pain. 6. Have you had the symptoms before? If so how many times and how long did they last If the symptoms have persisted for more than 5-7 days that I would consider going back to the health care provider and emphasize the points above.

Strep came back positive (Strep C) and negative for mono. I was prescribed amoxicillin and was feeling much better on day 3 until I developed a horrible yeast infection. I was then prescribed the one dose of fluconazole and the yeast infection was cleared. My original symptoms were gone so I didn't bother taking the rest of the antibiotic.

Avatar f tn I recently had strep throat but since my throat was not sore it was not treated and then went to strep reactive artritis. This all started with pain in my ankles and knees. Within a week I had pain in all joints. It was not always in one joint, moved around a bit. By Sat I was unable to hold a pop can without trouble and opening doors was very painful so I went to the ER and from the blood tests they did they found my strep level was at 200.
