Also of people get fever and feel really sick with a strep inection but sometimes all you have is a chronic sore throat. Strep sore throat needs to be treated with an antibiotic as strep is a bacteria. Viral sore throat is best treated with rest, warm oral fluids and (OTC) tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain. If you develop a fever, or if there is enlargement of the tonsils with pain or if there is white coating on the tonsils, you will need to consult your primary care physician for a strep test, which if positive you will be given antibiotics.

Symptoms of strep throat include throat pain, difficulty swallowing, red and swollen tonsils, swollen/tender lymph glands in the neck, fever, and fatigue. However, these set of symptoms may also be observed in a viral infection or some other kind of illness. To confirm if this is due to streptococcus bacteria, throat swab or culture and direct physical examination may be done. If this is due to a viral infection, it usually resolves after a few days.
m in the same situation, I went to the doctor and they told me I had strep throat, a week later my tonsils were still huge and with a white substance on them. Went to a different doctor this time. She said she was pretty sure it was mono, but the blood test had to be shipped off today so I won't know for another day or two, so I'm not 100% it's mono. Have you been really tired? Other than a sore throat fatigue is another symptom.
Back in May I got strep throat. I ended up getting it a total of 4 times over a 10week period. I don't know if I had become immune to all amoxicillon or not, but it finally went away mid-July. Then 1.5weeks later I had a flare up of what I thought was strep(fever, red throat, puss & canker sores). My doctor sent me to an ENT who left it up to me if I want to have my tonsils removed or just monitor it through the winter months. My tonsils are still swollen, but no sore throat.

Recently I had an exposure whereby I performed oral for a few minutes without ejaculation. I am pretty certain there was pre-cum. Within 3 days, I had developed a sore throat and huge swollen tonsils with white splotches all over them. I have seen where white splotches can be indicative of HIV. I went to my Doctor. He did a strep test and also tested for mono. He did not think it was mono, because I am 37 and he said it is highly unusual to have mono at my age. Mono proved negative.
I get colds more often then everyone around me and they seem to last from winter to winter. I get alot of flem in my throat and when its cold, I spend alot of time coughing it up. My mouth dries up quickly, I have a strange little gulping thing that I do when I am speaking to clear my throat. The thing I hate the most is I can no longer sing properly. I could sing at full soprano previous to my tonsils swelling up but after some time I cannot even get close to that.
It could be strep throat, tonsil stones amount other things. I would consult your Dr. Try to gargle with hot salt water, clean them gently with a q tip and drink sprite in a can. The salt water has cleaning properties, q tip can let you get a better view and let you know if it is pus or a harder substance and the sprite in a can has more carbonation than bottle and if it is a stone that can sometimes bubble it loose.

It has gotten bad enough now that my throat feels closed off and when you look inside my mouth you can clearly see there is not much space between tonsils and my uvula is rubbing one of them.THe tonsils appear to be slighty red but other than that they do not appear to have spots or white anything on them. I have begun having problems sleeping as a result of this. I have no health insurance, in this day and age it is too hard to get it. I want to know what the problem could be.
I've had strep throat like symptoms, but it's not strep throat. I've had 4 different doctors do 4 different swabs, one of which when to the CDC, they all came back clean. I've been to an ear nose and throat doctor who scoped me and saw nothing. An allergist who prescribed me antiviral meds (Valacyclovir Hydrochloride 1000mg), steroids to help with swelling and other medications to previously try. Needless to say, they haven't worked.
Its a dry cough but yesterday I noticed my throat started hurting and when I looked in my throat there were white spots on my tonsils. I instantly started assuming I am getting strep. But none of my symptoms are the same as when I had strep before. Well last night I slept thru the night without waking up coughing but noticed myself waking up to me gasping to get air.. I woke up with no voice today. Last night I went to bed with a crazy migraine. But I haven't run much of a fever.

I went to my doc but he didnt even look at my mouth :( he didn't take me seriously at all just spoke about the baby and that's it. I had strep once and it burned my throat so i kind of thought it was my tonsils but not i hear of advanced strep ugh I'm def going for a second opinion tm.... and can u still have advanced strep w out fever?

m not a pro but I wonder if you have Strep throat as I had white pus, possible blisters on the back of my tongue, tonsils and throat. I had strep along with mononucleosis. (30 years go :) )I also had a bad taste in my mouth. I think you can have strep with or without a sore throat. It's worth asking your doctor about mononucleosis and strep if you haven't already.
