Avatar m tn Doctor thinks she has strep so he took a strep test. Doctor said strep was highly contagious and asked if our 3 kids and myself got it. But nope only my wife. Questions: 1. After readying the above what do you think my risks are for STD's? 2. If my wife does have strep throat is it possible that me and our 3 kids will not catch strep? We shared drinks on Saturday night, wife already starting having sore throat. Doc told her its highly contagious. 3.
Avatar n tn Consider your drinking water a source. We were on well water and were informed that the constant strep throat infection my kids had could be coming from the water they were drinking. Strep can be passed through water. Ever since we have been on bottled water we have been in the clear. This discussion is related to recurring strep throat in our family.
Avatar m tn Most sore throats are caused by viruses so he may not get exposed to this same strep throat if the kids have a sore throat at school. Strep throat is contagious and so he and the other kids should not share utinsils, and you should throw away his tooth brush after the antibiotics are finished as he can reinfect himself. You and other family members and friends could have been exposed before he was put on antibiotics but he would be ok now since he is on antibiotics.
Avatar n tn ve had a chance to check and in fact it is not uncommon for two year olds to have strep throat. Google two year old with strep throat and much data pops up that it happens and not uncommonly. Since it is contagious, you often see it in daycare facilities. I mentioned it initially only because my boys had some very odd symptoms when they've had strep throat and it didn't look like obvious strep throat. They almost always gag, throw up. They get head aches.
503418 tn?1231098736 One of my children never got a fever with strep. Would just feel tired and throat hurt. When you looked at throat you could see white blotches and then we knew for sure.
Avatar f tn Its a dry cough but yesterday I noticed my throat started hurting and when I looked in my throat there were white spots on my tonsils. I instantly started assuming I am getting strep. But none of my symptoms are the same as when I had strep before. Well last night I slept thru the night without waking up coughing but noticed myself waking up to me gasping to get air.. I woke up with no voice today. Last night I went to bed with a crazy migraine. But I haven't run much of a fever.
Avatar n tn The last two times that I gave him oral sex I broke out in the most painful blisters on my tonsils. I went to the Dr. because I thought that I had strep throat and the test came back as just a virus, however, I don't know what virus.
Avatar f tn I just got over strep throat!!!!!!! I dont know WHERE I got it! I just hope the kiddos dont get it!!
Avatar n tn Okay - I've seen this question asked a million places and a million different ways but none of the answers were the same and none of the questions were very much like my situation so I figured I'd give it a try (sorry if you've seen this a ton of times before!). My boyfriend is in the military and the last two times I've gone to visit him on base I have performed unprotected oral sex and gotten strep throat.
1624191 tn?1299191803 Two months later I had a fever and sore throat. I went to my doctor back in Missouri and the tests said it was Strep throat. Is Strep a symptom of HIV? Or could a viral infection be mistaken for strep? Also would a blood test after two months from sex session show a reliable result whether it is HIV or not?
Avatar f tn My brother tested positive for strep throat today and I've been around him..they're supposed yo induce on Monday. If I am to come down with strep will they still induce? How soon will strep affect me if I've caught it? And is there anything I can do meanwhile to help fight any bacteria I've already been exposed to?
Avatar n tn My 8 year old son has freqent sinus, strep and ear infections. He had his first strep throat at 8 months. He has had tubes in his ears twice. He is on antibiotics several times each year. He is on his 4th antibiotic in the last 9 weeks (they just aren't working). He had his tonsils removed two years ago and still gets strep two or three times a year. We have gone to an allergist - he has no real allergies to speak of, only a mild dust allergy.
Avatar n tn What meds did they give him for the cough and sore throat it may be strep, did they prescribe anti biotics as he may be having an allergic reaction. ask if you can give him an anti histimine ...
Avatar f tn When my daughter was in her teens she kept getting strep throat and tonsilitis. She would have an injection of penacillian and that would help for a while and then it would be back. Someone suggested Hydrogen Peroxide therapy. We tried it and it worked great. Never another incident of strep throat. Hydrogen Peroxide therapy is using food grade (35%) H2o2 orally. You start with just a drop or two in a glass of liquid twice a day, gradually progressing until you are using thirty drops.
Avatar n tn fever from 100-103, croupy cough and sore throat. We took them to their ped thinking possible strep. Then came the swine flu worry. Strep test, flu test and chest xrays all clear. Ped says just a bug but I'm starting to worry. Any idea how to help? Oh and if it helps they are homeschooled.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, recently I went to the doctor with a nasty sore throat that had started to get swollen and accumulate white spots. He tested me for strep and found that it was not that, and my lymph nodes are not swollen for it to be mono. He said it was a viral infection that should last about three to four days. Anyway, the next day, I performed oral sex on my boyfriend. The day after that, I realized the infection had gotten even worse (at least to me). Could this have exacerbated the problem?
Avatar n tn Also of people get fever and feel really sick with a strep inection but sometimes all you have is a chronic sore throat. If you let a strep infection go for a long time without treatment it can make you seriously ill and could even kill you. That is rare but it does happen. Go to the doc. A simple exam and maybe a throat swab should reveal the cause of your sore throat. Good luck, hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn my 7 year old had difficult strep throat in march with repeated throat cultures;he was treated with 3 rounds of antibiotics, the last for 3 weeks!during that time he constantly streched his neck, which slowly stopped.now in the past 2 weeks he has developed a head-bobbing action that he can't control;is this pandas or a tic or both?and what can help!!!
Avatar n tn Hello, Due to the suddenness of appearance of rash along with no prior history of any rash,it can be due to a viral infection or an allergic reaction.Scarlet fever(strep infection with a rash) and other viral infections and allergic reaction due to contact dermatitis have to be ruled out.Apply calamine lotion on the rash and consult a pediatrician soon.Treatment for all is different and before prescribing any medicine in children ,it is important to confirm a diagnosis first. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn What you are describing sounds more like strep throat. Do you have a fever? Strep throat can be quite painful when swallowing and cause a general feeling of malaise, with whitish "dots" appearing in the back of your throat. If left untreated, strep throat can lead to other more serious complications. You should seek medical attention.
Avatar m tn In fact, my son once got a staph infection in his throat that mimicked strep and thank God he was on antibiotics because they thought he had strep at first.
