Hi everyone, recently I went to the doctor with a nasty sore throat that had started to get swollen and accumulate white spots. He tested me for strep and found that it was not that, and my lymph nodes are not swollen for it to be mono. He said it was a viral infection that should last about three to four days. Anyway, the next day, I performed oral sex on my boyfriend. The day after that, I realized the infection had gotten even worse (at least to me). Could this have exacerbated the problem?
My brother tested positive for strep throat today and I've been around him..they're supposed yo induce on Monday. If I am to come down with strep will they still induce? How soon will strep affect me if I've caught it? And is there anything I can do meanwhile to help fight any bacteria I've already been exposed to?
If they are infected you can also get that lump in your throat feeling. However, when I had tonsillitis I also felt really bad and had a fever. Strep is another possibility and one you dont want to ignore. Complications of strep can be dangerous. Also of people get fever and feel really sick with a strep inection but sometimes all you have is a chronic sore throat. If you let a strep infection go for a long time without treatment it can make you seriously ill and could even kill you.
I slept most of the day with a fever and my throat is sore. This continued overnight and into today. I currently have on and off fevers, a swollen kneck and a sore throat (with bumps on it).
Is it common strep could come back like this? Or could this just be a virus? Is there any concern this is something more serious?
Symptoms of strep throat include throat pain, difficulty swallowing, red and swollen tonsils, swollen/tender lymph glands in the neck, fever, and fatigue. However, these set of symptoms may also be observed in a viral infection or some other kind of illness. To confirm if this is due to streptococcus bacteria, throat swab or culture and direct physical examination may be done. If this is due to a viral infection, it usually resolves after a few days.
Do you have a high fever? If so you may have strep throat. The fever may be making your legs ache. You can have strep throat without a fever but usually you have a fever. Do you have any pus in your tonsil area or white spots? You get tested for strep throat by a doctor. I think CVS pharmacy has a clinic too (which is cheaper if you don't have insurance).
If do you it could be a strep throat. IF no fever and no pus but just a red throat it maybe a virus. It should pass in a couple of days if it is a virus. If it dosen't get better then see a doctor and be honest about the oral sex. They can easily do a throat swab for GC and also a culture for strep throat or a rapid strep test and culture. Every illness with both sore throat and fever should be professionally evaluated. The concern is not STDs, but strep throat, mononucleosis, etc. But if no real fever, you can safely just sit tight and wait for it to clear up on its own -- but still see a doctor if sore throat lasts more than another week or so.
So I have a rash on my forearms and calfs and i have pains in my knees and elbows which makes it hard to move sometimes and i just had a sore throat which my doctor said it was tonsilitis. Does anyone know what is wrong with me as far as the other stuff? oh and i had a fever and my white blood count was a little higher than normal.
Firstly, has he been cultured for strep throat and/or had a rapid strep test done? Secondly, steroids are good for getting inflammation down but they cause you get very immunocompromised. Are these oral steroids and were they actually perscribed by a doctor. I would stop the steroids. He could also have a resistant strain of Strep. so they may need to do a antibiotic sensitivity panel if the culutre is still positive. Lastly, it may virus that he got after the initial infection.
About two weeks ago, I started getting a fever and headaches. My dad told me to start taking Amoclan antibiotics but I wasn't taking them every 12 hours so the process didn't work. I tried taking them again but properly this time but it still wasn't working. I also took brufen for the fever. I went to see a doctor and I was diagnosed with a severe case of tonsillitis. He could observe white pus at the back of my throat.
I went to my doc but he didnt even look at my mouth :( he didn't take me seriously at all just spoke about the baby and that's it. I had strep once and it burned my throat so i kind of thought it was my tonsils but not i hear of advanced strep ugh I'm def going for a second opinion tm.... and can u still have advanced strep w out fever?

What you are describing sounds more like strep throat. Do you have a fever? Strep throat can be quite painful when swallowing and cause a general feeling of malaise, with whitish "dots" appearing in the back of your throat. If left untreated, strep throat can lead to other more serious complications. You should seek medical attention.
Yesterday afternoon, I suddenly got a sore throat- it got worse as the day progressed and I woke up with my throat hurting even worse. It hurt so bad that it actuallly woke me up at 4am and prevented me from going back to sleep. Today, my throat is killing me. It feels like I am swallowing knives & the pain is really bad if I drink, eat, breathe through my mouth and it especially hurts if I talk. I have actually held my throat with my hand while talking to prevent it from moving much.
He has been on antibiotic for three days now and is still crying and holding his throat. He is also getting his lower molers in. Fever was 103.4 and can not sleep due to pain every time he swallows. Fever is down but still not sleeping for more than an hour at a time. We are forcing fluids with a dropper. I really feel that this is more to do with throat than ears. Anyone know what might be wrong and what I can do?
thank you very much for your reply. I actually did not get a fever, and the sore throat lasted only 2 days, leaving only a dry cough, this makes me think it was something viral, would you agree?
My throat did not particularly hurt when swallowing, it was just a burning sensation in teh back top of it.
