Avatar n tn s normal color to a strawberry, and then raspberry, color. A strawberry-red tongue in a young child may also be a sign of Kawasaki disease. A smooth red tongue and painful mouth may indicate pellagra, a type of malnutrition caused by a deficiency of niacin (vitamin B3) in the diet. A red tongue may also be inflamed (glossitis)—the tongue is red, painful, and swollen.
Avatar m tn Atypical Kawasaki disease is mostly a term used when infants less than a year of age present with persistent fevers without the other classic criteria for Kawasaki. It is not the norm to see "atypical" Kawasaki in older children. usually they have the more complete forms, although all of the signs need not be present at the same time. Kawasaki is a diagnosis of exclusion.
Avatar f tn creme for rash and we applied it and rash is also gone. But he still had strawberry tongue and tonsils. So I took him to pediatrician. He asked for blood test with ASOT, Sed rate, plates count, something for inflammation in blood test. And he asked for ECG as well. Same time he asked us to stop all the medications. We got everything done and stopped 2nd antibiotic (So in total 2nd antibiotic was taken for 5 days). He didn't have any fever for the next 3 days.
Avatar m tn Hi Doctor Thank you very much. Situation (I am male) In 2009, I did some STUPID things and slept with 8 female escorts. There was kissing, body licking, protected vaginal and protected oral. However on two occasions I received Unprotected/gave Oral Sex, (1) 15 minutes with ejaculation (2) 30 Seconds-no ejaculation. The escort supplied the condoms and I worry that they were sheepskin condoms. The last incident was Dec 18 in which was protected (oral and vaginal).
Avatar n tn I ALSO WANT TO KNOW ALL THE SIDE EFFECTS THAT CAN HAPPEN AS A RESULT OF KAWASAKI DISEASE LATER IN LIFE. TODAY, A BRICK WAS STILL REMAINS IN PLACE BETWEEN MY QUESTIONS AND THE ANSWERS. I KNOW THIS DOES NOT HELP, BUT I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I SHARE IN YOUR FRUSTRATION, BECAUSE TO BE PREPARED IS TO PREVENT.
234614 tn?1266264964 Kawasaki Syndrome is pretty rare from what I've read. I'd never heard of it either, but they have some stuff on Kawasaki here at http://www.medhelp.org/tags/show/18413/Kawasaki-Disease. There's a good overview in the health topics at http://www.medhelp.org/medical-information/show/3886/Kawasaki-disease as well. Seems like it's mostly in Japan, but does happen in the States on occasion.
Avatar f tn Well, at first I was kinda thinking Kawasaki disease....Although this occurs in younger children..It Can (upon my reading) occur sometimes in older children... PLEASE NOTE: I am in no way saying that is what it is but that is what came to mind about feet and hands peeling..
701581 tn?1279136038 I am sorry your son is having seizures. I know it is very frightening. I am not in a position to answer your question but I think your friend must be referring to the information that came out with John Travolta's son's death. They were referring to a different disease (kawasaki syndrome) and said that it can be caused by chemicals in carpet cleaning liquids. So I doubt that the carpet removal has anything to do with your sons seizures.
Avatar f tn Kawasaki Disease or mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome is a disease of unknown origin usually in children under the age of 5 and is characterized by swollen hands and feet, fever, rashes, irritation of eyes, swollen lymph nodes in the neck and other places and inflammation of the mouth lips and throat. In about one-forth of children the heart is affected by inflammation of the heart muscle (myocarditis). Children often receive IV gamma globulin to reduce the chance of lasting heart problems.

Avatar m tn Other causes for the bumps could be due to canker sores, these are painful. Others are due to warts, Kawasaki disease and leukoplakia. But there is usually some amount of inflammation with these conditions. If the bumps become painful or if there is discoloration or if they increase in size consult your doctor for an evaluation. Regards.

Avatar n tn trauma, infections, reactions to medications and, rarely, serious medical conditions such as Kawasaki Disease. Wash her hands with an unscented soap and make sure that she also use an unscented moisturizer after drying her hands. If it persists, have this evaluated further by your doctor or dermatologist for proper management. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn He has been seen by cardiologists, including one in Japan who is experienced in treating adults who had Kawasaki as a child. No cause has been found for his irregular heartbeat or the fact that his EKG seems to indicate an enlarged heart. I suspect that he could have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, based on his symptoms. He will be traveling to the Houston area, known for cardiology expertise, but could travel anywhere. Any recommendations or referrals?
Avatar n tn Is there any risk of getting an STI/STD from an encounter with two strippers, that would keep kissing me. There was no tongue but a couple of times one would push champagne in my mouth from hers and once held a strawberry in her butt that I ate.
Avatar m tn Since the rash is on both hands, and on the backs of the hands, it seems you can rule out any kind of insect bite or contact rash like poison ivy. Does he have a fever? The first thing that springs to mind is Kawasaki disease, but that's sort of rare. How is he today? Can you take him to his pediatrician?
Avatar f tn Do check in with doc right away to rule out Kawasaki disease in children.(Peeling of hands and feet post fever) . ofcourse allergy to antibiotic also has to be borne in mind.
Avatar f tn She was hospitalized for almost 3 weeks where she got treatment for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Kawasaki disease which were both ruled out after treatment. Diskitis is out as well thru an MRI, bone marrow was normal. Her pediatrician thinks she has some kind of Juvenile Arthritis but two Rheumatologists (one from Wake Forest the other from Duke) do not think that's what she has.

Avatar m tn I think, my RIGHT tonsil (green arrow) is swollen and I had long term sore throat before but now only happened in the morning(when i woke up) and there are some yellowish color in my throat and long swollen shape (blue arrow)... My tongue has a red dots on it, looks like strawberry and i have a bone ache, joint shooting, and tiredness. I have no loss weight, but actually gain weight. Could this be an infection or another problem?
Avatar f tn as a result of streptococcal tonsillopharyngitis, Kawasaki disease, and dengue. Hence, you need to undergo serological tests for few common causes. You need to report if you have taken any suspected drug before this like sulfa drugs. Also any previous history of eczema, asthma, and allergic rhinitis should also be taken in to consideration. Oral anti-histaminic and corticosteroid against prescription, which may help to alleviate these symptoms. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist.
