1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar m tn My son also could not take the Strattera due to side effects, but the side sffects are in the same category as SSNRI's. A lot of people just can't take them. Some have no problems. I am interested in the Provigil because he does well with stimulants. Hope negive finds this info useful too.
990354 tn?1307132886 I have been on both strattera and adderall. Adderall is very addicting to this (me) addict. The strattera didnt give the buzz adderall did. ALSO many people have reported adderall increased depression. I hope this helps. Congrats on getting off the opiates. YOUR AWESOME !!
Avatar m tn Hello again, "Anybody have experience like this or with these meds?" The following is all just my opinion. Everyone reacts to medicine differently: Concerta is an extended release form of Ritalin. Which is what I took when I was a kid. It is still a stimulant but it is much milder than Adderall. I think more doctors should start patients Concerta because it has fewer side effects than Adderall.
Avatar n tn My daughter is nearly 11 years old and has been taking Concerta (now on 36mg) since March. The doctor recommended a switch to Strattera for the reason that it works 24 hours (Concerta is effective for only 12 hours) and will help my daughter concentrate more. I have no idea whether Strattera is a better alternative, can anyone tell me if this is true?

Avatar m tn One of the side effects that my child shows is that she bites and pulls her nails. Yesterday, I noticed that you suggested Strattera to another mom for tics. Our doctor told us also to change to Strattera.
Avatar m tn ve been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
Avatar n tn I've been on strattera for two weeks and the only strong side effect I seem to have is that I get really tired or fatigued around 2:00pm. Will this side effect subside over time? Is there anyway to lessen it? I've tried other ADD medications however because they are stimulants I tend to get really agitated or even a little paranoid when I'm on them so I am hoping that Strattera works out ok. Are there any other non-stimulant ADD medications?
Avatar f tn Strattera also does help some people, but many get some pretty wicked side effects from it - myself included. All in all, finding an ADD med that works for you is a matter of trial and error by you and your doctor. Sometimes the first thing works great, and sometimes you have to try a few meds and tweak the dosage before you get the best results with the least side effects. But once you do, it's a big help.
Avatar f tn Strattera, Adderall XR, Vyvanse, and Daytrana are medications I have taken, my brother takes Concerta. Vyvanse and Adderall XR are the only meds I can take. I have a real sensitive stomach and immune system, and am allergic to a lot so I would think that you can handle most of these.
Avatar f tn I agree with Sandman2 that you are taking too much. The first medication the doctor tried on me was vyvanse. I started on 30 mg which didn't last long enough. I was in college when I was taking it and took it at 9am and it was gone by 3-4pm. She increased my dose to 50 mg which was too much for me.
Avatar f tn i dont want to stop the meds if they are going to help him. he tired adderall and strattera with the same side affect. can anyone recommend something that will work without him getting sleepy.
Avatar f tn As he was grew up we tried different meds for short periods, but the adderall made his tics worse, the strattera did not do anything ( we recently just tried strattera agan for the recommended time and dosage), in the past 1.5 years he has been involved with pot (it helps his tics) and then moved on to meth. He said he was very focused on the meth and it did not bother his tics. I am completely puzzeled how adderall could have bothered his tics and on meth did not?????
Avatar n tn I am surprised that he gave you vyvanse. My dr. gave me Wellbutrin and it produced none of the side effects you mention except decreased cravings for caffeine and sweets. Our pharmacist said vyvanse is a lot like adderall; he said everyone seems to be using it who would have previously been on adderall. It is very trendy right now. But I do not think it would help with anxiety at all, and I would guess anxiety might be causing your heart rate to be rapid.
Avatar f tn so i tried the strattera for a week and did not notice any benefits just side effects plus it’s very expensive. i do know strattera needs to build up in your system to take effect but the side effects and price made me feel like there were better options. i called her today and told her this and that i am now off my suboxone. she then decided to write a script for wellbutrin because it’s cheaper?
Avatar m tn bacterial infections! So I started researching side effects to Adderall and after much digging around I finally came across a post in a woman's forum regarding a common STD which is a bacterial infection and the women were discussing Adderall. Sure enough, there were tons of ladies complaining that they have had an increase in all that is bacterial infections since taking the medicine. It seems to be linked, Bacterial Infections and Adderall.
Avatar m tn Been on lexapro and adderall for about two years it has been much better then my last combo of wellbutren and litium. i have been off the adderall for a few months because i am a recovering addict and started well, always abused the adderall. I am suffering so bad with concentration and focus its affecting my work BAD... Is it safe to take lexapro and strattera? and is it safe to take lexapro and ginko biloba untill i get insurance to get strattera ...God i feel like a mess.
Avatar n tn I am an over 35 Adult female with ADHD. I have been taking Strattera for several years. It wasn't until my aggressive behavior and anger was announced to me by my husband as being a problem that I sought help with counceling and with my primary care Doctor. The first thing my Doctor said to me was that Strattera was known to cause heightened aggression and mood swings. He also said that due to the fact that I am super-sensitive to any medication it could make it much worse. Is this possible?
Avatar f tn Whenever a doctor prescribes a medication for a child, the parent would do well to investigate its side effects of the medication. ADD medications can be very nasty, and that includes Strattera. In a case like this I would definitely investigate alternative medicine for the treatment of your child. The answer may be acupuncture which has no side effects. Do whatever works.
Avatar n tn HI molly I am on strattera and I have zero side effect. However, I have a friend who has been on strattera and had to stop it because of the itch. Tell your doctor asap.
Avatar f tn The evidence is overwhelming that the treatments are safe. Now, does this mean that there are no possible side effects? No. It is more a question of weighing the possible benefits of the treatment against the possible side effects. The most probable (vs possible) side effect of the stimulant medications is appetite suppression, particularly during the middle of the day. If you consider the use of these treatmenmts, be sure to talk about the side effect profile with the prescribing clinician.
