Avatar f tn hello, I've seen a few really positive posts about the book Stop the Thyroid Madness book and I was wondering what everyone thinks about it? I looked it up on the internet and have seen a lot of positive reviews, but I've also seen some that say: stay away from this author...the author doesn't know what she is talking about...be very wary of this author...etc.... Should I look into the book or should I not bother?

Avatar f tn I have 51 of the 84 symptoms listed by numerous patients who submitted their stories to Janie A. Bowthorpe who then wrote the book Stop the Thyroid Madness. Thanks in part to some knowledgable friends and Janie's website, I started on Armour Thyroid a month ago. I'll see my doctor in a few days to make some additions to my treatment. Just want to put it out there - if you have hypothyroid or even suspect you do please go to www.stopthethyroidmadness.
Avatar f tn oh yes - they are only a few of the many symptoms of hypothyroid. you can find lots of info and lists but if you want an easy to read sourse - Stop The Thyroid Madness is an awesome book. it's a compilation of info from many patients. it has helped me alot.
Avatar f tn Hello All, Back in 2007-2008 my user name was Kittyface when I participated here and treated with interferon/riba. I was lucky enough to clear but for the last 10 years have suffered "post interferon syndrome" with fatigue, malaise, no motivation, depression, low immunity, increasingly developing food intolerance and allergies, diagnosed with mastocytosis, muscle aches etc etc. No joy in life for a previously joyful person.

Avatar f tn s progressive - meaning that the antibodies are continuously attacking the thyroid, destroying thyroid tissue and as the antibodies destroy thyroid tissue, the thyroid produces less and less thyroid hormones. As the destruction of your thyroid progresses and your thyroid hormone production decreases, your dosages of Synthroid have to be increased to keep up with your body's needs. You should ask to get tested for the antibodies I mentioned above.
519035 tn?1348275773 It is caused by poor circulation from the thyroid grrrrr! I have so much to learn. I hope I can help anyone else tho!
1068689 tn?1325827206 Alternative doctors are for healthy patients? Not true at all. Your doctor's God complex is showing. You need to find a doctor who will be open-minded and informed enough to recommend the best treatment available whether they be alternative or conventional. Low testosterone can be a complication of type 2 diabetes and hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn I just started my.nesting the other night at 36 weeks but I don't have the energy to do much at one time so it's turning into quite the process!
Avatar f tn Is a thyroid goiter and mass the same thing? Would the TSH result be normal with a goiter and or mass? Would a person feel fatigue with this mass/goiter? What is the recovery period if it is removed?
Avatar f tn Increase heart rate, 60-80 bpm, palps, tightness in the chest and along thyroid surgical scar, neck tension, including contracting and relaxing of veins and muscles. This really scares me so I go back to taking it every other day. Question is, will I achieve optimal level with med increases taking it this way?

Avatar n tn I see it starred the website I listed. There is a book called stop the thyroid madness and a webpage by the same name that has a lot of info.
Avatar f tn You should probably go onto the website 'Stop the Thyroid Madness' and 'Real Thyroid Help' forums. Some people can use T4 only meds. T4 is what is actually used by the thyroid (it's converted from T3). Synthroid can often make the problem worse or not resolve it. Do plenty of research and find a doctor who is open minded and won't just prescribe a single drug and then wonder why it doesn't work.
Avatar f tn I have to get a copy of my labs, but I posted a few of them on a forum called stop the thyroid madness and they said they were out of range. So i'm trying to get my GP to listen. I will post them in a few! I'm more concerned about the lines on my forehead..do they go away?
Avatar f tn Finding a doctor is not easy. If you message gimel he might have a list of doctors in your area that could help you.

Avatar f tn 0006 or somewhere around there but with a TSH like that, the pituitary is trying like heck to signal the thyroid so they really need to look more at the thyroid as it is more indicative that perhaps that end of the loop is not working. Were an free T3, free T4 or other actua thyrod tests done?
1369218 tn?1282423884 I have yet to find a happy medium despite trying progesterone, Vit D and iron when all levels were low. I started reading on stop the thyroid madness that it could be adrenals and after A LOT of different tests, I had a few docs agree that my adrenals are stressed. NOT one of them though even has a clue really though! My last ACTH stim tests results were: Base 60 min 17-OH Progesterone 50 ng/dl 197 ng/dl Cortisol 9.
Avatar m tn have it killed off by radiation and go on Armour thyroid. Push for this and avoid synthroid. Read" Stop the thyroid Madness". You will see what I mean.
441267 tn?1211687001 I get the scared thing - I've been throught CT with oxy, and the idea of doing it again scares the **** out of me. I don't know if I have the will power to do the taper thing with the tramadol I am on, I am pretty sure once I start to feel terrible I will just take more. Maybe a rehab centre might be the way to go.
