If you had suspected the cat of being rabid and had gone to the doctor when you got scratched, they would have made you
quarantine the cat. Each state has its own length of time for a
quarantine period, however the average length of time to quarantine an UNvaccinated animal is 45 days. If nothing happens to the animal in that period of time, the animal can be released from quarantine and you don't have to worry about rabies. Vaccinated animals are held for a period of 10 days.
