Stomach virus incubation period

Common Questions and Answers about Stomach virus incubation period

Avatar f tn Hi, the incubation period (the time between initial contact with the virus and onset of the disease) for hepatitis B ranges from 45 to 180 days. But the HBV DNA can be detected approximately 21 days before HBsAg typically appears in the serum. The presence of HBV DNA in serum is a reliable marker of active HBV replication.
203342 tn?1328740807 Anybody else experiencing this? My daycare baby had a stomach virus last Thursday. His mom kept him home that day and brought him on Friday because he had stopped throwing up so she felt he was fine then, that it was just a 24 bug. Well, he's been fine but my 4 year old started throwing up yesterday. He couldn't keep anything down until last night he had a little soup. This morning he acted fine and was hungry and wanted pancakes so I gave him some.
1173196 tn?1292920090 I read somewhere that stomach viruses are viable for two weeks, and the incubation period is 48 hours. The virus was going around my workplace, so I stayed away for 13 days, and she got it anyway. I hope Liam is luckier!
Avatar m tn In any illness, there is always an incubation period before symptoms appear. You asked me if I am busy, do you not have a life to be getting on with rather than wasting engery going round in circles about something that has not been confirmed and there is no evidence to prove that this China HIV thing exists? There are lots of people who have illnesses and diseases and there is no cure, and they have to make the best of their lives.
Avatar n tn It looks that the incubation period is about 6 months or more and it looks like you have to contact with a person for a while to transmit it. Now let me tell you that there are plenty people in many countries have the same thing going on - I know about 40 people at least in Russia. I was trying to research this and went through every disease, and every symptoms. Tried many empiric treatments and I can say - this disease does react to certain antibiotics but long period treatment is needed.
Avatar n tn Transmission of this virus through the air or blood does not normally occur. The incubation period, or the time from infection to appearance of symptoms, ranges from 4 to 6 weeks. Persons with infectious mononucleosis may be able to spread the infection to others for a period of weeks. However, no special precautions or isolation procedures are recommended, since the virus is also found frequently in the saliva of healthy people.
Avatar f tn Fatigue Weakness Sore throat, perhaps a strep throat that doesn't get better with antibiotics Fever Swollen lymph nodes in your neck and armpits Swollen tonsils Headache Skin rash Loss of appetite Soft, swollen spleen Night sweats The virus typically has an incubation period of four to eight weeks, although in young children this period is shorter.
Avatar f tn Are there documented cases in recent years of someone taking longer than 3 mos? Or, is the 6 mo window period still around because that was always the standard. I recognize test are more sensitive than before, etc, etc. Like I said, I was tested the day after 3 months exactly and it was neg. I had a RNA PCR at 2 & 9 weeks too. Do you think there is any chance I would show antibodies at 4, 5, or 6 months?
Avatar m tn The window period after exposure to Hep B is 45-150 days according to the Cleveland Clinic, a reputable source of information. Hep C's incubation period is between 2 and 24 weeks, although the average is to nine to eleven weeks. In HIV, after 2-8 weeks post exposure, most people will have enough antibodies to test positive. Twelve weeks after infection, about 97% of people will have enough antibodies to test positive.
Avatar n tn A person is usually infectious in the early stages of incubation period and remains so after a week of developing jaundice. There is no specific treatment advised for this condition. Bed rest and maintaining good hydration should help. A strict no fat diet is recommended. Avoid oily greasy and fried foods. For preventing transmission in other family members from 12 months to 40 years it is advisable to get vaccinated against hepatitis A if not taken the vaccine. Hope it helps. Good luck!
Avatar n tn The incubation period after exposure to HCV has a range of 15-150 days (average 50 days). Within 3 months following exposure to the virus, 90% of the infected people will have detectable antibodies. Within the average of 50 days, almost all patients develop liver cell injury which is indicated by elevated serum blood levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT). Individuals infected with HCV are often unaware of the illness because most of the time they do not have specific symptoms, e.g.
Avatar n tn symptoms of hepatitis B would be jaundice, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and fever. The incubation period (the time between initial contact with the virus and onset of the disease) for hepatitis B ranges from 45 to 180 days. You can get yourself tested to know the exact status. Also, there is vaccination for hepatitis B, please have yourself vaccinated. Regards.
Avatar m tn Also those infected no longer have the presence of mind to eat so it wouldn't have munched the carrot. Lastly the incubation period of rabies is only a few days and if your not treated within the first 48 hours it's to late. Treatment is a long needle perforated through the abdomen and in to the stomach. Likely the bunny was just very tired maybe starving to death poisoned from the chlorine in the pool or was injured before it went in to the pool.
Avatar f tn Also you hygien's have nothing to do with the clearing of this virus. there is no real incubation period you could get infected with HPV and not have an out break for 10 years. the clearing stage if from the time you have an outbreak. you can have the warts removed as well. I am an example of on who has cleared the virus genitally but because of the new infection on my face I have that to deal with.
Avatar n tn I'm not positive, but I thought stomach acids killed this virus, this is a virus where contracting it depends on the exchange of *blood* from person to person......a possible way to get it by inhaling it....Is say by means of a cocaine staw...
Avatar n tn I google death rates for campylobacter and feel that my life is over and I'm gonna die. The incubation period is five days, and I don't know how I'm going to live waiting for five days to find out if I'm ill or not, especially because there is nothing I can do, and I can't think of anything else. :( I cannot calm down at all. I threw up my dinner during the night because of nerves. I don't know what to do and at the moment I just feel that I cannot cope anymore.
Avatar n tn The results came back negative for Hepatitis A, B and C and my liver enzymes and white blood cell counts were normal. Although the possible incubation period for a positive test of these viruses is longer than 5 weeks - the doctor concluded that I am probably okay based upon the combination of negative STD results and normal blood counts. However, the doctor did recommend that I come back at the 3 month mark just to make sure - that is when the anxiety started.
Avatar m tn A while ago you made mention of someone you knew that had relapsed after an IV bolus of Prednisone. I would have written this off to coincidence had I not noticed that we live in the same area geographically. Would this person you referred to be named Katie? Just wondering… if so, we’ve met before :o).
Avatar m tn Cummings has just informed)? Is 30 days after exposure reasonable incubation period? Would it be normal for it subside in a few days in a healthy immune system?
Avatar m tn 8 standard) All others were in standard range I also got tested for hep B and C yesterday and waiting for results For the past 4 weeks I had dry mouth, slightly irritated red and yellow eyes (my family says they look little yellow), slight pain in stomach, and the past week been feeling a little itchy all over more at night. Based on my blood result (Bilirubin high and WBC low) and my symptoms does it look like viral hepatitis?
Avatar m tn Is there a standard incubation period for HPV and how high is my risk? 4. I read that HPV causes cervical cancer, and now I am worried that I may have picked up a dangerous cervical cancer causing strain of HPV that may one day cause my girlfriend to also get cervical cancer like the CSW did. 5. I am avoiding sex with my girlfriend right now but I can only get away with that for a little while longer.
Avatar m tn Hello Victor, I am a patient not doctor so don't take my word on this but think I understand what happens to an infected person quite well. You can be in the acute phase for up to one year after exposure. This is because the virus can have a 6 month incubation period. So the "6 month" acute phase starts from when you become symptomatic. (ie jaundice etc) There is an antibody develops at this stage.
Avatar m tn It was cold, dirty, dehydrated, very malnourished like skin and bones with dreadlocked hair, manure and grass all over her stomach and feet and poop all over her butt hair. She had to have been out a long time. I gave her a triple bath and got her really clean and then my mom and I dried her and warmed her with a blow drier. We fully brushed her. We gave a comfy blanket and some water.
331623 tn?1195018593 Welcome to the forum. I think the incubation period for hep. C might be 6 mos. (The time between when you have exposure to the virus and when it actually shows up in your blood). Maybe that was what the doctor is referring to. But as you say, you have passed that already. Check in your yellow pages under physicians for a hepatologist (liver specialist). The GI's work on the entire digestive system so they usually don't know as much about the liver as the other specialist.
Avatar m tn When i was talking to him about what you had said in regards to MC in general, He said the following. MC has an incubation period that, even though when it looks like it has cleared up it could be 3-4 months before you can write it off as truly cleared up because they can be extremely small and still rupture while not visible in plain sight. He then trailed off about HPV, and I had to correct him that I don't have HPV then he agree'd with me.
Avatar m tn - I assume you mean jaundice, feeling like you have a very bad flu constantly, depending upon incubation period perhaps some tenderness of the liver upon palpation, but that comes usually after you pass from the acute to chronic phase of the infection. Get the proper lab order prescriptions from your GP, and and have them check for antibodies to all of the types of hepatitis, and for HIV.
242516 tn?1368227505 org/health_chats/register/17 Due to the swine flu, the US has declared a public health emergency. We're early in the outbreak of this new virus, with most all patients in the US having mild illness who have recovered without treatment. Only 1 of the 20 cases have been hospitalized. Since the US strain is a genetic match to the Mexico strain, officials are concerned about the potential of deaths in America from swine flu.
Avatar f tn I personally wouldn't recommend that as there is simply not nearly enough evidence that rabies is a risk at all, and rabies treatment is nothing to take lightly. To give you some added reassurance, the incubation period of rabies varies a good bit, but usually, initial symptoms aren't seen until 1-3 months after exposure. The timing of your symptoms don't point to rabies, plus the nature of your symptoms do not either. You have to decide how to best proceed.
Avatar f tn It usually takes two weeks after becoming infected to begin developing signs and symptoms (known as a herpes outbreak), although this incubation period can be as short as one day or as long as a month. However, not everyone infected with herpes has early symptoms. In fact, it is common for people to have no symptoms with the initial infection -- but they can still spread herpes! A person who does have early symptoms of genital herpes may have a variety of symptoms that vary in severity.
Avatar n tn I've read and found out there is no defined incubation period for them to show up after being infected. I've found that they probably would have shown up by now but not necessarily and it could be many months or even years after being infected that they show up. Some sites even say decades. This has caused me to constantly obsess about it and preventing me from getting closure to the situation, STD wise.
