Avatar m tn I have GI appointment at the end of the month. Is it possible to have a stomach ulcer for 6 months?
Avatar f tn The upper GI showed a large stomach ulcer and she feels that this is the cause of my stomach pains and other problems, and wants to put me on medication. Anyway, my question is: Is ulcer a possible side effect of the nissen fundoplication procedure? According to the test results they are saying the ulcer spans from the fundus and down the whole side of the lesser curvature.
Avatar f tn A physician can answer you questions about stomach acid much better than I. However, I will try to explain about stomach acid. Stomach acid, known as gastric acid or gastric juice is concentrated hydrochloric acid and can destroy metal in a few minutes if it were collected from the stomach. The reason stomach acid does not destroy your stomach is because your stomach is lined with mucus membranes.

Avatar m tn s fail to tell you that whenever you take antibiotics for whatever reason, It kills good stomach bacteria along with the bad, so when taking a course of high dose antbiotics, you should also take a good brand of Probiotics every day and at least 6 days after the treatment is completed. Probiotics replace the good bacteria that the treatment kills off, I would try Probiotics for a week and stay away from spicy foods.
Avatar f tn I have not heard of "GERD," but I think I may be getting some kind of ulcer or at least something like it. A while ago, I got really mad (really), and my stomach started hurting (which is strange, because I've had a good stomach all my life). Then, incidentally, I decided to have three glasses of wine (or at least I think I decided). The next day, my stomach felt awful. One of the worst pains in my life. It's been better since then, but it occasionally hurts.

Avatar m tn Do you have a family history of duodenal ulcer. Duodenal ulcer can also be caused by alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, tobacco, taking NSAID's aspirin, brufen e.t.c. The most common cause is the infection with H.Pylori. Does the pain cause you to wake up in the midnight. About fifty percent of patients with duodenal ulcers awake during the night with pain, usually between midnight and three a.m. Duodenal ulcers respond well to treatment, so relax and get yourself checked.
Avatar m tn I don't think it is a hernia or stomach ulcer. Could it be the foods you are eating? What is your diet like?
Avatar n tn mild pain in the upper left side of the stomach down to the side. Worse after i take spiced food. What is it?
20758552 tn?1505855713 When you say anything that has gas in it what do you mean gassy foods? Some foods that cause gas like beans , cabbage etc. can cause gas that gives you pain in the chest and it can radiate to the back and feels really sharp. Does it feel like that? It may not be related to the other thing. I am more into infectious disease so I'm not sure if this is that. Have you seen a Gastrointestinal doctor? What kind of drugs helped this?
Avatar f tn The major symptom of an ulcer is a burning or gnawing feeling in the stomach area that lasts between 30 minutes and 3 hours. This pain is often interpreted as heartburn, indigestion or hunger. The pain usually occurs in the upper abdomen, but sometimes it may occur below the breastbone. In some individuals the pain occurs immediately after eating. In other individuals, the pain may not occur until hours after eating. The pain frequently awakens the person at night.

Avatar n tn could get checked for an ulcer, it's a simple blood test - sounds something like that, especially with a stomach bug/virus. OOORrrr could be a variety of things but I think a dr. visit would be a good idea and maybe test for ulcer...sometimes they're silent. Are you in pain? You SUUUUURE YOU'RE NOT PREGNANT?? (just kidding..
Avatar m tn Hi this may be a strange one it is for me I am a 50 year old female who suddenly has started burping non stop. I feel full all the time even though I get hungry,my stomache under my breasts I feel is dystended and is also painful after I eat. I have major constipation usually only going every couple of days and then it resembles rabbit turds. If I drink coffee with flavored creamer I might go once sort of normal.
Avatar m tn I had some of the same symptoms and went to a Gastroenterologist and had an EGD (endoscopy) where a scope was used to look at my stomach to see what was going on and it was as I expected...an ulcer. You may need to have the same test...don't worry you'll be sedated.
5679001 tn?1372219764 I would cut down on the oily foods. It isn't good for your health and it is causing you indigestion. You may have reflux or even an ulcer. It would be good to get an upper GI test if you could. If not then do they have Zantac 150 you take that for a month or two. But do quit the fatty foods and cream sauces and oily or fried foods and that should help on it is own. You don't want to take Zantac for very long it is only to help temporarily (1-2 months the quit).
3099520 tn?1341194531 It may be a peptic ulcer.....and stress, huge temp changes in food, spicy foods, alcohol etc can make it worse.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 40mg Omeprazole for a year now for a stomach ulcer and because I also take celebrex 200mg for osteoarthritis I also have diverticulitis/ diverticulosis and had 30 polyps removed from my colon dec.
Avatar f tn I get the same thing - told by doc that is was GERD and IBS - which is so general, I don't believe. I belief it is LOW acid in the stomach - so low it can't digest foods. The stomach is naturally acidic which is how it breaks down food. What I have done since is take a half shot of true apple cider vinegar 5 mins. before eating each normal meal. breakfast, lunch dinner - and eat a little less at each serving - let your stomach adjust to digesting food properly.
