Common Questions and Answers about Stomach ulcer diagnosis

Avatar m tn I've been having stomach issues over the past couple of months. 2 weeks ago the pain was very bad, I noticed very dark stool and called mt PCP right away. She recommended that I go to an immediate/urgent care ASAP. The immediate care took an h pylori blood test. They called me back a few days later and said I tested positive. He then put me on triple therapy right away. My question is h pylori something that can come on after only a few months?
Avatar m tn t able to give me an official diagnosis. Well it seems like my problems have changed. Instead of the heart burn feeling and tightening of the throat, my symptoms have changed to constantly feeling hungry. Even after I've eaten my stomach still isn't satisfied because I get the same feeling again 30 minutes later. I don't vomit or have diarrhea nor do I feel like I have to, but when I don't put something in my stomach when I'm hungry, it starts hurting.
Avatar n tn During the treatment, I began have mild queasiness and aching in my epigastric area (many areas) I developed an angry vaginal yeast infection. I treated that, and began probiotics right away. By then my stomach was very painful and churning burning ALL the time. The foods I was eating regularly started making me feel like vomiting. Like potatoes, then beef, then chicken, cauliflower etc etc It' s as though I was/am still getting allergic to all these foods.
Avatar f tn My name is Sam and I'm a 15 year old female. Recently I've been worried about possibly having a peptic/stomach ulcer. I'm not freaking out over it, but I would like to see my doctor. I've been having pain in my upper middle abdomen. It's either sharp, achy, or burning. Sometimes it feels like I'm hungry. Anyways, I keep telling my mom about the symptoms, and she won't let me schedule a doctor's appointment! Why?
Avatar n tn Hello, Gastritis can cause pain in the upper abdomen after eating .Peptic ulcer disease causes upper left quadrant pain that usually begins 2 hours after a meal. It gets better with over the counter antacids. Stomach flu can cause indigestion and abdominal discomfort. Viral gastroenteritis can lead to nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. The exact location of pain and other details will help in determining the accurate cause .Take light meals. Avoid spicy fried foods.
Avatar m tn I have GI appointment at the end of the month. Is it possible to have a stomach ulcer for 6 months?
Avatar n tn I know with my heartburn it just burns from my stomach up to my throat. Could she have a ulcer? I know when I had one my stomach hurt and it felt like cramping. have you taking her to a family dr? I would start there. And maybe when she is having these pains to have her eat some tums or something that is for heartburn just to see if that helps because those meds also help with ulcer pain.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with an ulcer of the duodenum. They said that no bacteria was present. Prior to my EGD I was taking Cipro for a kidney infection. Could this have made the bacteria non present? If not bacterial than what ar the non bacterial types?
1752640 tn?1352767394 Gastritis is a more likely scenario. It might not be a bad idea to check with your doc and possibly ask for some testing. You may want to consider asking him to check for the presence of H. pylori, the bacteria that is implicated in causing stomach issues and gastritis.
Avatar f tn Why do i have pain in my upper left stomach, nausea after i eat, loss of appetite, and everytime i drink water it makes it worse
1313408 tn?1273955598 re probably right about it being your stomach. Stomach pain like that could be caused by an ulcer. Stomach ulcers are now known to be caused by bacteria, so simple antibiotic treatments can cure it. If the pain persists, see your doctor and get a diagnosis. If it's an ulcer you could be feeling better soon. Good luck.
4384361 tn?1399998230 In the meantime, my six month wait for bariatric surgery is nearly complete and my surgeon recommended a endoscopy to check out my portal vein prior to surgery. I had it done yesterday and she found possible cancer or an ulcer in my stomach. Doing my own research I've pretty much ruled out an ulcer so that leaves me with cancer. The biopsy is due back in a few days so I should know this week. I'm guessing lymphoma since that is related to the immune system.
Avatar n tn I am a 27 year old female who 4 years ago started having severe pain in the top middle part of my stomach area. After ruling out IBS, Acid Reflux, etc, the doctor ordered my gallbladder to be removed. Once it was removed I continued to have the same intense pain. I then went through ERCP and CT scans of the abdomen which only revealed a small filling in my bile duct which was removed at that time.
Avatar m tn The pain below stomach started last July when I was in Europe. I just walked on the street and felt suddenly a sharp pain in my intestines that was so intensive that almost brought me on my knees. After a couple of minutes the pain eased but it left a general pain. I started drinking herbal teas and went to the doctor. Herbal teas did not help much and utlrasound did not show anything. And the pain was still there. I then started drinking kefirs with biocultures and the pain eased significantly.
526146 tn?1287442248 the pain is central in the stomach and above the belly button. The meds Im on are actually for an ulcer or excess acid and do help when taken - its a horrid pain!
Avatar m tn I woke up later that night at about 2am with severe stomach pain. The pain has become mild andcomes and goes. Could I have an ulcer?
Avatar f tn I'd go with the stomach ulcer or with gerd. I've had what I believe is gerd the past few days. Last night in particular it was extremely painful and I got limited sleep. I too have been getting pain when eating and drinking and activity has been bringing on the pain too. I guess that is more when I am bending over. If you're lying down to relax and experience pain then that would fit with acid reflux. I put the pain down to the acid.
Avatar f tn Could I have an ulcer? I have stomach pain around my belly button and above - pain goes through to my back. Pain severe when I waken in the morning until I get up (strange) Pain is worse when I am lying down. When I eat, the pain goes away for a couple of hours, then comes back.

Avatar f tn The reason stomach acid does not destroy your stomach is because your stomach is lined with mucus membranes. Stomach acid is not like the advertisements that show the acid in a container and a TUMS is added to the container and the acid is neutralized. Your stomach has acid pumps that spew acid whenever food or liquid is added in your stomach. I do not know how many acid pumps there are in a human's stomach, but enough to attack whatever is added to your stomach for digestion purposes.
