498596 tn?1210700259 From my last chemo to the 1st chemo for recurrence was about 10 months. The first few months I continued to have bone pain, stomach issues and fatigue. These slowly resolve the further out from chemo you get. However a lady I know with colon cancer, who has been in remission 6 yrs, still has the stomach problems and bone aches. It varies between the individual and age and what chemos they took. I hope your mother does well.
Avatar n tn Please help me. My father was diagnosed with NSCLC (adenocarcinoma) in October. His left lung was removed and now he received 4 rounds of chemotherapy. The lymph nodes on the left side of the lung were effected and removed. He is receiving cisplatin and taxotere as his treatment. His brain scan, abdominal organs all were clear at the time of the diagnosis. Yesterday he had an abdominal ultrasound (not due to any complaints) which showed a 15 milimeter 'something" in the liver.
Avatar n tn So now she is off everything and feels much better though some days she has bad pain in her bones and stomach too. But stomach pain might not necessarily be related to cancer because she has diverticulitus. I wish you the best whatever you decide.
Avatar m tn She has cried of a short stabbing pain that constantly presses on her intestines and stomach area. When she brought this up to her physicians, they simply gave her more chemotherapy thinking that some of the cancer was not properly removed during the surgery. However, in a recent examination they discovered that the pains she had been describing were due to both the large and the small intestines melting into a globular organ.
1320130 tn?1296053588 I had chemotherapy exactly one year ago and a few months after the chemotherapy I started to have real pain in my joints and bones all over. It especially hurts if I have been inactive for more than 15 minutes. My doctor did a bone scan and results were good for no cancer, but is this really arthritis?I did not have it before the chemotherapy.
540822 tn?1313086322 I will be having a hysterectomy mid July followed by chemotherapy. I don't feel that I have received much information about ovca from the oncologist. He has been out of town. He did tell me that I will be on Taxol/Carboplatnin. Is this the standard? What are the side affects? Will I definately lose my hair? What about weight loss? Any information would be informative. I can find info online but I would like to know about experiences instead of "facts.
Avatar m tn Is it possible to get a rash during or after chemotherapy? I've been on a chemo treatment for 6 months for colon cancer. Have finished treatment 4 weeks ago. Tonight i just noticed a rash on my legs. Could this be from the medicines they used? I believe the meds are called oxaliplatin, leucovorin, and 5 fluoroucracil.
Avatar m tn The chemotherapy can supress the immune system, causing you tiget sick easier. The stomach pain could be caused by CINV. If AI and CNIV are the case, they can be improved with synthetic G-CSF.

Avatar f tn I lost my period obviously during Chemotherapy. I had one so-called period (it was heavy and long) in early Jan 2010. In between then and now, I've had two romantic times with my husband of 20 years (yay I know, but you would understand if you've been through this) :) and both times I did bleed. The first time, it was so heavy it actually dripped out of me. That cleared up within hours. The next time was not as much, but I did bleed.
Avatar f tn Procrit (erythropoetin alpha) is given to cancer patients during chemotherapy to avoid the need for blood transfusions. During chemotherapy, the hemoglobin is maintained at a level of 10 to less than 12 grams/deciliter. Increasing hemoglobin levels to more than 12 g/dl is detrimental to the patient's well-being, and erythropoeitin doses are typically reduced when the hemoglobin level begins to approach 12.
Avatar n tn As a rule, it would be better for you not to take any unnecessary medication (whether synthetic or herbal) while undergoing chemotherapy. Chemotherapy places your body in a precarious state and any additional medication can push you to have an increase in severity of adverse events. If you need to have castor oil, maybe you can have it a week after your chemotherapy has been given.
Avatar f tn Does losing one's hair (from chemotherapy) cause head pain? This discussion is related to Side effect of head pain and swelling.
Avatar n tn The first surgery followed 8 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. They gave me a lot of dilaudid (hydromorphone) for pain, both during chemo and at the time of surgery. In the weeks after surgery I was a mess, dealing with the bag, more chemotherapy, and healing from the previous treatment and surgery. I dreaded the nights, the anxiety was torture. One of the chemo drugs was really harsh and caused diarrhea, dehydration and horrible nausea. I lost more than 1 pound/day.
Avatar n tn I have developed strange and scary symptoms during chemotherapy. I have chest pressure and pain (center of chest), and pressure in my abdomen. It has become difficult to even wear a bra. When I eat, I can not eat very much because of the pressure. I had a normal mammogram. What is going on? I even went to the Er once because I thought I was having a heart attack, but had a normal EKG and X-ray.
612551 tn?1450022175 He said no problem taking Aleve (or similar) for pain when on Chemo. Of course you stomach may not like this harsh a medication - taking with food is the best practice.
Avatar n tn I was just diagnosed with stage 1c ovarian cancer, had both ovaries, uterus, and omentum removed 5 weeks ago. But during my appoitment on Tuesday with the UNC oncologist I was told no chemotherapy. I am confused. Do I need it or not??????
Avatar m tn  She appears to be normal and she does not feel any severe abdominal pain. Doctor said since there is no severe pain or swelling, there is no need of Chemotherapy. He has prescribed to take tablets and return for a check-up after 2 months. We are not convinced with his response. Is that ok just to take up the prescription as he said? We feel that the count is extremely high and go for Chemo treatment to bring it under control. We really feel scared and worried about my mother’s health.
653618 tn?1260603643 Both patients were optimally cytoreduced prior to first-line carboplatinum/paclitaxel chemotherapy. Patient 2 had a delay in initiation of chemotherapy secondary to co-morbid conditions and had evidence for progression of disease prior to institution of therapy. Patient 1 began oral high-dose antioxidant therapy during her first month of therapy. This consisted of oral vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, coenzyme Q-10 and a multivitamin/mineral complex.
Avatar f tn re experiencing is not toothache (since no cavities were seen on dental x-rays) but a side effect of the chemotherapy. I really suggest that you try either Neurontin or Lyrica. If that pain is due to neuropathy, you will feel a marked decrease in pain after taking these drugs for a few days. You can take Ibuprofen intermittently, but it could damage your kidneys or cause gastritis (damage to the stomach lining) if taken regularly for a long period of time (e.g.
Avatar n tn Blood pressure readings should be taken every five minutes during the infusion. Chemotherapy is administered shortly after giving the amifostine so that the maximum amount of the drug is in the cells before the chemotherapy is started. If neuropathy does develop, it may be necessary to discontinue the suspected chemotherapy drug causing it. Administration of amifostine may reverse the neuropathy or lessen its symptoms.
