1699847 tn?1306967171 I have been on the pill for years now. I am currently on Ortho-tri-cyclen-lo and I am thinking about switching to Seasonique so I won't get 12 periods a year. I want to be on a pill that won't make me gain weight or give me major acne. Any tips/help.
Avatar n tn My girlfriend had been on birth control for about two years. She always had her period on a saturday. Always. She had to stop taking the pills for a month (her prescription was messed up), but once she got her pills back, she didn't wait for her period to start before starting the pills. So my question is, would it be normal for her period to start on a saturday still? Because the period after she started the pills again started on a saturday and lasted for nine days.
Avatar f tn I've got a week left and I still don't know what birth control I should get on. And that will help with periods (cuz I have bad flow that I get anemic on my period.) and one that I can safely breastfeed with. Any ideas? What are you stories, the good and bad with birth control.
Avatar f tn Everything about your treatment there is confidential, and they will usually give you free birth control. I got a year's worth in one visit. If there isn't a Planned Parenthood in your area, many women's health clinics offer similar services at low or no cost. If you need to talk to your mother, just tell her you need to regulate your periods. Birth control is often prescribed for this purpose.
Avatar f tn Which kind of birth control works best? I also dont want to gain weight from it.
Avatar f tn I woke up sick to my stomach on morning than I started spotting, I been on birth control for four years and haven't got my period on any of them. Once I started spotting i got nervous. I was sick to my stomach and having bad cramps, two days later I passed a clot the size of three quarters and the cramps completely stopped than the bleeding got really light. And it turned brown.
Avatar f tn I would also maybe talk to my parents about possibly getting on birth control pills to help with the cramps -- that was suggested to me and just because you are on birth control doesn't mean that you are or have to be sexually active but it does help. Good luck hun!
Avatar f tn I have the paragard. It's a copper non hormonal iud. I've had it since the beginning of February. I had the strings cut again on my check up, but other than that I've had no issues. It's my favorite birth control that I've used.

1534422 tn?1325628768 The birth control pill can have side effects that effect sex drive and wetness, so that might be the reason if you were easily able to orgasm prior to being on the pill. If you don't like the side effects from the pill, make a doctor's appointment to talk about other birth control options that can work better for you.

Avatar f tn It's actually safer then most birth control in my opinion. Only thing I dislike was the amount of time the bleeding took place. But it definitely didn't cause any problems as far as cramps or anything to that nature but I'm preg now so I won't say its the most preventable method lol but hey nun are . I just knew I wasn't doing the mirena or whatever it's called had to many family members and friends have problems and have to have it removed.
Avatar f tn I've been on birth control for more than a year, I forgot to take two of my pills and took 3 of them in one night when I remembered. The next day I started bleeding heavily and have terrible cramps.. is this okay?
Avatar f tn The brown discharge is most likely old blood that took awhile to come out. I get that sometimes. And it's perfectly normal for birth control to affect your body differently after you have a baby. Before I had my first, I was on seasonique and after about 2 years I stayed bleeding through it and had to switch. After she was born, we tried it again and it worked perfectly. It's possible that you don't need as high of a dosage anymore, OR that birth control just isn't right for you.
Avatar f tn Myself and most every mom I know swears by their IUD. I had mine after my daughter and loved it... There are risks but the Dr can explain them...
Avatar n tn The doctor will start you on a basic birth control, probably combination estrogen / progestin, bare in mind there are different concentrations which can lead to different benefits/ side effects or they might not work as indicated at first. Doctors usually recommend 3 month trial before switching.
Avatar f tn I am 19 years old and have been on the birth control pill for about 4 years. I have been sexually active and have been fine. I finished my birth control pack on Saturday and my doctor had not called me in a refill, so I was unable to start again until the following Wednesday. I started normally taking them and took them for about 10 days before I had sex with my boyfriend. I read that they only needed a week to take effect again.
1333915 tn?1276701564 t move, slept like you in the fetal position all day, and was always nauseated and just sick. her doctor started her on birth control and it's the best thing that happened to her. you might want to ask your doctor for it, my sister never has to take days off and her periods are lighter and she's feeling so much better. you don't want to have your body used to all these medications at such a young age. talk to your doctor about birth control.
