764257 tn?1234724152 Talk to your doctor about whether you should try Atkins or not. I was on Atkins for approximately 5 months (something happened and I completely stopped eating, but it isn't related to the diet). The results were fantastic. By the end of the second week I (a carb lover) didn't want to eat carbs although I was still eating fruits and veggies. I lost weight and I felt good.
Avatar n tn My doctor at one point did give me antiobiotic for Sibo and it did cure it temporarily and then as soon as I ate any type of carb pasta, crackers etc my stomach would blow up huge like I am pregnant. So basically I had to go back on atkins permanately and now its almost back to normal. My stomach still bloats whenever I eat any carb though. Also when I was having stomach bloating I then went to gyno and was told I had a bacteria overgrowth below as well. So it seems like its spreading.
Avatar m tn For the last 2 weeks or so, I have noticed that my stomach has been more active and noisy. This usually happens right after I eat for about 1/2 hour to an hour, I also notice it when I wake up, and also when I take a drink. There is no pain, my stomach just seems to be more noisy, almost like it is producing acid, etc.
Avatar m tn t test for celiac disease with a colonoscopy - the doctor has to do an Endoscopy - from the top. I really think you should go on an Atkins type diet. Now I see you are diabetic and on insulin once a day. So you'll have to check with your doctor before starting (if you want to give it a try). I don't know if your doctor will be open to this diet and playing around with your insulin. The Atkins type diets help circumvent the whole insulin problem.

4054761 tn?1349368749 I am. This is my 2nd full week on Adkins and I'm down almost 5 lbs! I'm still new at it but it's going well and hasn't been that difficult to maintain this as a "diet".
1054985 tn?1257173275 I have been on atkins for 3 years, diagnosed with MS 6 months ago. Anyone try the diet? I feel great with enough energy to drag myself to the gym on a regular basis. Wondering if anyone has had succsess.
529994 tn?1212850084 I was diagnosed with PCOS in May. They started me on Metformin at 500mg 2x/day, which was too harsh on my stomach. They dropped me down to 250mg 2x/day, which I seem to tolerate ok. I've lost about 10 lbs so far--since May, but I've given up my fast food, and soda-diet & regular. You might want to try doing something along those lines first. I was on Atkins about 4 years ago, and it's really, really tough. I lost 55lbs while on it, and then got pregnant.
Avatar f tn I wake, almost nightly, with EXTREME leg cramps which typically begin in the inner thigh and radiate from the knee to the lower back. Most often in my left leg, these cramps will bring on uncontrolled screams and cries to God for relief, although I am typically a very reserved person. I wear Dansko shoes because I am on my feet all day, and although I try to avoid too many carbs I am not a true Atkins dieter.
Avatar m tn The other advice I give to people about Atkins is not to stay on the Induction phase longer than 2 weeks at a time, depending on their health. If they strictly follow the plan (which is very healthy!), they will still lose weight. I am just not a "follow a plan" kind of person and I know this, so I had to vow off of all plans. I actually lost weight by increasing protein, fiber, dairy and decreasing bad carbs. Sound familiar? OH !!! AND I GREATLY INCREASED MY ACTIVITY LEVEL !!!
1159480 tn?1263405571 m glad to see some positive talk about the Atkins/lo carb diet. I went on the Atkins diet about 6 years ago. I lost about 50 lbs. Once you get used to it, it's easy. And, I kept the weight off for the 6 years. I only gained back a few pounds when I started eating carbs again. You really get used to not eating alot of bread and sweets and it does not bother you after awhile. Unfortunately, what killed me was menopause. I gave in to the cravings for sweets and gained more weight back.
Avatar m tn I currently eat between 1800-2000 calories per day, tracked) and going on a very strict Atkins diet for a few weeks to induce ketosis. During their tests, however, they discovered I had a right bundle branch block (heart disease), so I didn't go through with it, mostly because the meds mess around with your heart. Well, turns out my RBBB is a "normal variant" and nothing to concern myself over.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I started Atkins in early January '09. I have done Atkins before back in 2004/05 and lost 60lbs and got down to 160lbs which was pretty good for my height about 5'6". It took me about 7 months to get to my target weight. I was extremely happy and felt great. Got married in 2006 and well...kinda gained it all back and then some...so it goes huh. I hate I did that but I truly love food and before I knew it...all the weight was back on again.
Avatar f tn During the day today , ive been getting like cramps in the lower stomach almostlike period pain. My period isn't due for another 2 weeks. I used to be on the pill but i have been off it for about 3 months now. Also the other day i noticed a small about of brown discharge on my underwear!
Avatar f tn Hi there, I'm an 18 year old female and I have been on the contraceptive pill (Cerazette) for roughly 18months, perhaps slightly less. I'm aware that side-effects can cause irregular or no bleeding at all (ie no periods) and I haven't had any bleeding at all since I started taking it but this was never a problem as it remained this way so that's fine.
Avatar n tn Three times (separated by about a month) I have had severe cramps in my inner thighs. It is like a charley horse, which I used to get in my calves years ago. But this is in my thighs. This is a very large muscle, therefore it is a lot of pain, and kind of scary. This happens for no apparent reason, after no exercise. I was just watching TV. I can not move for about 10 minutes. It is sometimes severe enough to make me scream or cry. My husband put moist warm towels on me and it went away.
Avatar f tn Hi my last period was February 1st and this Monday I just found out I was pregnant but I have been having stomach cramps on and off since last week....is everything ok...I have a doctors appointment friday..
