Avatar m tn I read alot of books regarding healing, and listen to meditations on healing. I want to increase my chances of being cured by having positive energy flowing through my body and strengthening it, instead of negative and fearful energy flowing through my body and weakening it.
Avatar f tn Hi. Your grandfather's chances of surviving will depend on the stage of his cancer (stage refers to the extent of the cancer's spread) and his state of health before the operation. He has a greater chance of surviving and thriving after the operation if his cancer is at an early stage, and if he is in generally good health with no long-standing illnesses (like diabetes or heart disease) prior to the operation.
Avatar m tn The older a woman is, the greater her chances of developing breast cancer. Approximately 77% of breast cancer cases occur in women over 50 years of age. According to the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program of the National Cancer Institute: White, Hawaiian, and African-American women have the highest incidence of invasive breast cancer in the United States (approximately four times higher than the lowest group).
808425 tn?1371092328 I had a Hurthle Cell adenoma with changes... you want to read the chances of survival if it were cancer! I have found out that Hurthle Cells can be anywhere else in the body and can actually become cancerous too, without me even knowing! So I understand your worry!!!! I sometimes freak myself out with thinking has there been a few escapee cells into the rest of my body, how would I know, will I drop dead whilst on my push bike or will I get a bit of notice? Bah!!!!
Avatar f tn will chemotherapy work in this condition? what are the chances of survival? is there any other treatment options......plz answer in detail.
Avatar f tn Is "goblet cell cancer" a very rare cancer? and if yes what are the chances for fullrecovery after a chemotherapy. My friend was diagnosed with this "Rare" disease and I would like to find out for her what is it and how this monster can be treated successfuly. She refused to ask doctors about anything..she is 100 % convinced that she will die. She had Stage 3 I believe. Also she took 5 chemo and her blood count is low and so doctors are debating what to do with her.
Avatar f tn But given this information, what are the chances of breast cancer recurrence and survivial for my sister?
Avatar m tn The sooner you detect the cancer cells in the colon is extremely very important to increase the chances of survival. Awareness about the disease and its symptoms is the best way to seek medical attention in a timely manner. The earliest symptoms of colon cancer is not dramatic, it is nothing obvious compared to a heart attack so having enough knowledge about the disease is really important.
Avatar m tn I have a lot of previous experience with hospitals and doctors, and want to maximize her chances of getting the best possible care. We are in Delaware. She is currently in Christiana Care where she is scheduled for surgery in 4 days. I'm not sure how the surgeon was assigned to her. He's not listed on the staff of their Helen Graham Cancer Center, but he does do gynocological oncology.
Avatar n tn I looked at the stats once and I have never looked at them again. If I did I would probably just crawl off into some corner and die. What exactly are you looking for or more precisely why? Isn't it worth it for an improved chance of 8%? What if you find a chart that says it is only 2%? Would she consider not having chemo than? Why wouldn't she take every opportunity to make sure this doesn't come back?
Avatar f tn The doctor said that they cannot remove the malignant cells but they can perform radiotherapy and chemo. I know that the chances of survival is low since he had not quitted smoking; just cut down on the amount of cigarette he smoked and there's only a 5 year survival rate... Is there a away to increase the survival rate? I've read about holistic treatment on lung cancer but I'm not so sure about it. I heard Asian Ginseng helps to cure some cases of lung cancer.
Avatar n tn I know the treatment is removal - if the entire mass is removed what else will they do? What are the chances of survival if the mass is malignant? Thank you for helping me.
Avatar f tn Somehow erased part of a sentence. Even better chances of survival if the cancer cells didnt spread to the brain and spine.
Avatar n tn Lots of women are still in the fight with metastatic cancers. A friend of mine is on a cruise right now (between chemo treatments) and she's triple negative with mets. http://www.tnbcfoundation.
Avatar n tn I had surgery for stomach cancer Feb 5, 2013 and it was determine that the cancer had gotten into my lip nodes. I completed chemo, chemo/radiation and more chemo. Now that my treatment is completed I still have pain on my upper left side and the doctors have not been able to determine the cause. I’ve had EGD, CT, small bowel series, and x-rays. I am taking 4-5 pain pills (Norco) daily. The pain varies from moderate to severe. Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions this is driving me crazy.
Avatar f tn I can answer your question better if you can give me more details regarding the patient being treated (age, sex, etc.), the type of cancer being treated (lung, head and neck, etc.), and the treatment being given. Hope to hear from you soon.
Avatar n tn Is this indeed stage 4 of the disease? But his bone scan shows up negative. What are his chances of survival? Please advise. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Dear Nestor, It is important to surgically remove what can be removed as soon as possible. Prognosis will depend on the extent of surgery, the ability to remove all the cancer surgically, the stage of the cancer, the grade of the cancer, and a person's age. So at the present time, I can not comment on your important question. Intraperitoneal (IP) chemotherapy is only used after optimal surgical removal of the cancer. It is not indicated when a person has not had surgery.
Avatar m tn 2 ng/mL) developed metastatic disease within eight years [2]. The prognosis of men with prostate cancer following a PSA relapse is diverse, and biochemical failure does not necessarily predict death [1,2,3]. The variability in prognosis in different series ranges from estimates in the four to five year range to as much as fifteen years or more.
Avatar f tn Hi. The only objective way to see if your mother has some other sites of metastases is to have these other body parts examined by some imaging procedure. Breast cancer has a predilection for spreading to the other breast, the lungs, liver, bones and brain. Metastases to the opposite breast can be determined by physical examination or by mammography. Liver metastases can be checked by means of a liver ultrasound or CT scan. Brain metastases can likewise be detected by CT scan.
2057817 tn?1330616851 Worst case scenario is cancer and in that case the sooner you get treatment the greater chances of long-term survival. I strongly recommend you get the "lump" cut out and tested. I am a 13 year survivor of a similar "tumor" that was in my leg (my cancer was liposarcoma). Note that tumors do not have any "feelings", but can cause pain as they grow and push against surrounding areas.
Avatar m tn Overall median survival of all 389 patients was 11 months from the date of diagnosis. The 1-year survival rate was 49%, after 3 years 19% of all patients were still alive https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar n tn point in making decisions to take the chemo or not take the chemo?? My oncologist gave me a 65% chance of survival and be cancer free, if I did NOT take chemo. And if I took the chemo he could increase my chances by 12% bringing the survival chance to 77%...still leaving an 18% chance of the cancer recurring (supposedly 5% would be dead from other causes within 10 years). It seems that neither choice is one that one can make and feel good.
Avatar n tn s so very sad, but Goldens have developed a terrible reputation for getting cancer. So much of your decision depends on early detection and treatment, and how much you can afford to treat it. It may be kinder to treat his pain and keep him comfortable for as long as possible rather than put him through the misery of chemo and radiation. I'm very sorry that both of you have to face such an awful illness.
