I. done and a CAT scan of the lower sotmach and Pelvic area. Would the CAT scan show any cancers such as the Liver, Pancreas, stomach, etc. Had a colonospy done about 2 yrs. ago. Had one non-maligrant polup removed. What is causing this stomach pain to last for such a long period of time? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

My husband is 38 yrs. old. He went in last week to have a cat scan on his stomach because of a gallbladder issue. He went wednesday and also met with the surgeon. Well his family dr called friday (at 4:45 pm ) to say that the cat scan picked up a 12 mm nodule on his lower right lobe and they need to schedule an MRI. I was just in shock so I didn't really say much. Well I called her back a few minutes later and said--do you mean he has cancer?

But what will a cat scan of abdomen and pelvis with contrast show? If there is a tumor in the stomach or esophagus, will it show up on cat scan as at least "something" there like a shadow or will it show up clearly?

I am sorry you are having those symptoms and your ca 125 has gone up. If you can afford it I would choose a Pet scan. An MRI or Cat scan just covers a certain part of your body. A Pet scan covers your whole body and I think the cancer shows up better due to the contrast they use. If there is cancer anywhere in your body it will light up. It gives me more peace of mind. There are other things that can cause your ca 125 to go up and you are still in the normal range.

I took my 9year old cat sneakers to vet yesterday and they have no idea what's wrong. Ran a bunch of tests and still clueless. He's been projectile vomiting with no wreching and lost 6 pounds. I had another cat that was younger than him and she died from brain cancer last year. He doesn't have all the symtoms but some of them. Could he have stomach cancer? They gave him steroids yesterday and a steroid shot and nothing. Projectiled 3 times today. I just don't know what to do.

The probability of cancer es low. But it still there. In case of cancer he thinks in bronchoalveolar cancer, he told me no surgery, probably radiation. We'll see. Thank you again for your help.

I am on my second round and experience a full bloating feeling most of the time. The Cat Scan is showing tumor shrinkage, so I do think it has to do with the chemo. Tell you friend to hold in there.

I have a lump, left side of stomach just below rib cage. Not Painfull, but uncomfortable and growing. Hernia has been ruled out. No bowel changes, no vomiting, but sense of fullness and increassed gas . Occas.. "locks "into position when laying down. Have CAT scan scheduled in approx. 60 days. Onset was sudden (or only noticed by me-meaning no recall of growth or injury). Present approx 6 months but larger than when originally noticed). Would appreciate thoughts/concerns etc.

has anyone had a cat scan recommended with contrast, after treatment with alpha 2a & ribavirin? i do not want any contrast medium injected into me & i don't want all the radiation of 3 yrs of background exposure. i am considering a fibroscan. my dr says without using the contrast dye, the ct is worthless. i had 11 months of treatment for 1b hep c. i had 2 blood transfusions in 1982. had a liver bx 2007 under general, before my treatment.

Mine also was discovered on a CAT scan, my Doc was looking for stomach issue cause.( thought I had IBS) He called in Onc while I was at Radiology, Onc ordered the CA 125, tv ultrasound. The next step was the Lap. Best of luck to you, let us know how it goes.

With that in mind it still is very reasonable to have a complete evaluation which includes blood work, sonogram and at least a cat scan. A CA125 is a blood test physicans use as a guide to help them make a diagnoses of ovarian cancer. A CA125 blood test can be elevated by a number of things including your period, infection and cancer. Your physician should have also included in the blood work Inhibin A&B, CEA level.

My doctor is now telling me my blood work is showing cancer he sent me for a cat scan and the results show enlarged lymph nodes, but the liver is unremarkable, and calcified granulomas in the spleen . It also showed two tiny hypoattenuating right renal cortical lesions. I have not been to the doctors with the results in yet. I picked up a copy of my cat scan, to nervous to wait until my appt. on the 17th. Does anyone have a clue, as to what all this means?

Thank you for your comment. I did go see my oncologist and he send me for a cat scan. I had that done Friday and I am hoping that it is something else and not the melanoma.

s nodule on her left lung was undetermined as to what it might be at this point. Her cat scan came up with no conclusive indication of cancer at this time. She was sent for a bronchoscopy and now awaiting results. What exactly are they looking for with the nodule being on her lower left lobe? She will again have a cat scan in 8 weeks to see if it has grown. Would it not be better to just take it out and not let it increase in size over those weeks?

I have two questions: 1) I've never had a PET or CAT scan; what I can expect from the experience? yes he sees a GI and yes his mom just passed away feb 2010 from gastro esophageal cancer and he has told them this but you know i was just talking to a doctor and he says since my husband has been deployed in 2008 he got sick there 2 months before returning and lost 15-20 pounds with what they call disentery or however it is spelled and they asked him at first cat scan if recently been deployed but the doctor said it can lay dormant a parasite so that was 2 years ago and he has been since bout 1

Are there any procedures to remove the metaplasia? Can it disappear? I am very concerned since my sister died of stomach cancer. Am I suppose to wait until it turns into cancer before I can do something? Does it always turn into cancer?

5-6 mm nodules are assesed by CT (or CAT). Bigger nodules can be assesed by PET scan for the uptake of glucose, which means confirmation of cancer. Interesting is the lenghts of time from the first CT to the next. One specialist on this blog(!) suggested even 2 weeks!!! but many patients do not experience such a good care. They usually get follow in 6 months! What you are told by the professional is also interesting, pls post exactly what you are told.

Yesterday I did find out that I have a mass in my pelvic area that is really big. In the ultrasound they could not see my ovarie, today I did the cat scan and my question is: How accurate is the result of the cat scan? Is necessary to do a biopsy or the cat scan can tell if it's cancer or not? Thanks in advance.

I doubt CT scan would be indicated for garden variety HCV unless a U/S scan detected an anomaly; at least this was the position of both my treating doctors, Bill

Everyone reacts differently and I doubt that the CT Scan juice (as I call it) would indicate that there was cancer in her stomach any more then anything else she eats or drinks. As the doctor said, it could be the zantac and sometimes when we eat or drink things, it just doesn't sit right...and it does NOT indicate cancer. I know it is hard, really hard, but try to be positive....hoping her scan results are clear. Let us know.
