death

976897 tn?1379167602 I have been watching a documentry presented by an anaesthetist, regarding lowering body temperature during surgery. It all came about when a woman Doctor in Norway was skiing and fell through some cracked ice, trapping herself in frozen water. It was several hours before she got to the hospital and was actually considered dead because of her pupils and having no brain activity. They put her onto a bypass machine which gradually warmed her blood and her heart actually started beating again.

1322157 tn?1279656681 It is like a death - the death of your 'normal' life. And then you go through all the stages or mourning: Denial - this can't be my life, there has to be a cure Anger - Why me??!! (or you have anger towards the doctor, the person driving the car who hit you, etc...) Bargaining - I will do ANYTHING to make it better and the pain go away! Depression - Because you realize this is now your life and there is nothing to fix it.
Avatar f tn Depression results because of the extreme loss someone feels and is absolutely normal process of grieving. Google the steps of grieving and allow the person you are trying to help lead the way. This is a process that cannot be interrupted and it has to play out. If depression levels are dangerous to the point of loss of health, persuade them to go to a doc for medication to balance them out a little. Other than that, just be there.
Avatar n tn ok..fair enough..where shall I go to attain this information, I've searched online and can't find.

Avatar m tn So far from day 1 through day 18, I have started off with fatigue and loss of appetite which then added on to mild fever ranging in the 99.2 to 99.8. Then maybe for the last week of the 18 days so far I have had headaches. My appetite has come back and my fever has finally come down a couple days ago but I still have fatigue and headaches. Am I at risk for Herpes? I have been very paranoid and do not know the intensity of the tingling, itching, redness, sensitiveness, etc...
Avatar f tn I think, TX generally doesn't deteriorate your liver, except on very rare occasions. For instance, I believe you're not suppose to TX during decompenstaed cirrohis. During the early stages of hepatitis, inflammation in the liver can occur. Tiny scars called fibrosis may begin to develop in an attempt to heal itself. Fibrosis severity is generally measured in stages ranging from zero to four. Stage 1 is considered a small amount of fibrosis.
Avatar n tn Are there stages to xanax withdrawal? I'm two weeks off taking xanax and still feel awful. The anxiety isn't so bad but the physical aspects of the withdrawal are terrible; heavy headed, pre-syncope, tingling, numbness, narrowed vision, surreal feelings, etc. I could have saved myself years of torment if the doctors I'd seen had only recognized that I was experiencing withdrawal while taking the xanax itself.
Avatar m tn There are so many types of skin problems, such as allergic reactions, eczema, fungal infection or just dry skin that can appear anywhere on the body, including the breasts, nipples and areolas. It’s true that Paget Disease of the nipple can show improvement for a while but after a few weeks or even months (not years) the symptoms may reappear and show more serious destruction of the skin. At this stage, the symptoms may include tingling, itching, increased sensitivity, burning, and pain.
333672 tn?1273792789 In my reading I have gotten the impression that healing can occur progressively or in stages over many months to even many years. It depends on how much damage is done to the cell that maintains the integrity of the nerve fiber (axon) coming off of it. This cell is called an Oligodendrocyte. If the cell/nerve complex remains viable then theoretically the healing could occur at any time. I have not heard anything about a certain length of time. It is more a factor of extent of damage.
Avatar f tn 90% of a flea problem is in the other three life cycle stages that live on the pet or in the environment. Spot on treatments kill adults and the eggs and it much more effective, safe and the best treatment we have to date. It is also true that good house keeping with plenty of vacuuming is an important part of the overall control of environmental life cycle stages.
Avatar n tn The medical term shock refers to the organs and tissues of the body not receiving a sufficient flow of blood. As a result of the imbalance of oxygen supply and demand, a build up of waste products occurs and can cause damage to the organs. This type of shock is known as physiological shock and can result in collapse, coma or even death if it is not treated immediately. Often when people hear disturbing news about a loved one or have endured a traumatic experience, they also suffer from shock.
1201072 tn?1289760591 On the contrary she drinks at least 10 beers a day and also mixes this with other prescription drugs. The Doctor at the Hopital said she is operating on 8% of her liver and her chances of living for the next one year is slim if she keeps on drinking. His statement to her had no effect and she continues to self destruct. She is now sleeping all day and drinking all night and is beginning to hallunicnate and seeing things and beliving thing things in her mind that are not real.
1880594 tn?1321160655 The suicide thing could be a compulsion in order to relieve your anxiety. This is the case with me I think. Of course it is only a short term fix and in the long run makes things worse as is the case with all ocd compulsions. I have pure O so my compulsions aren't so obvious. For instance, I may at times had a fear that I would harm someone I care about (obsession) so therefore I feel I should shut myself in my room (compulsion).
547368 tn?1440541785 s girl and looked after him the last 15 years. The last almost eight years my dad lived with us after the death of his second wife. He was diagnosed with end stage lung disease in December of 08. As his health declined I was his caregiver. I have been a nurse for most of my life. He did not want to go to a nursing home or a hospital. He wanted to die in my home, which after all those years became his home too. I honored his wishes. He died with me at his side and holding on to him.

Avatar f tn An enlarged heart can have a number of meanings. Very often the term is used to explain LVH, which is enlargement of the left Ventricle. It is not necessarily painful. You give a small background description , so its difficult to know whats happening. The person may be having complications as a result of an enlargement? Sometimes an enlargement causes heart failure. In the advanced stages , failure has symptoms of varying degrees.
Avatar m tn Untreated the heart will enlarge and EF will continue to decrease and the outcome is cardiac arrest (arrhythmia). There are stages of heart failure and the final stage is shortness of breath, unstable angina (chest pain without exertion), and may be bedridden with an oxygen supply. One cannot predict an individuals' longivity. I was written off 6 years ago, and feel well today. Hide the aspirin pills!
Avatar f tn Monday- mostly the same, whole day did not change the position of the body,, while breething like that, it has lasted until Thuesday evening, and I was not aware was he consciosness or not, was sitting by his side, and gently massaged him whole time.
Avatar f tn Then tonight I discussed the death of a local teenager with the mother of a friend of mine. It really has me focused on death. She was my age when she passed, and now all I can think about is that could have been me. She died of pulmonary embolisms. I can't stop thinking about my death. My health anxiety is contributing to this, as well as my undiagnosed depression. I don't know what do to do to stop these intrusive, repetitive thought. Any suggestions?
1326947 tn?1277294765 Diane's right, a biopsy is the only way to tell how much liver damage you have. You may not need to get one if you haven't had hep c for very long. I haven't been infected with the virus for very long. Ive had it less than two years and have never had one. I don't plan on getting one unless I have too. I just heard a story about how someone had a cracked rib from getting a biopsy.
Avatar f tn I am so very sorry about your little dog's passing. I obviously can't tell you what the cause of his death was. Only a necropsy (autopsy) could determine that. I am making an educated guess however, as when you said he had belly contractions, this reminded me of my own dear dog who passed from hemangiosarcoma. She had a massive internal bleed in her last few hours, and kept contracting her belly muscles. I know this was an instinct to try to get something out of her insides.
Avatar f tn you are missing the others: altered intestinal flora, altered skin bacteria, x bacteria on the scalp, etc...
Avatar f tn I think there are different stages of addiction..the early stages which are most easily broken and then the last stages where one has to do or die. Actually as i type I realize that one always has to do or die because if one does not stop in the early stages it can progress to a much more difficult time and a more difficult recovery.
