228686 tn?1211554707 We all do our best when it comes to taking care of our animals and you have amassed great knowledge in the tending of cats. Sometimes life or death can get the upper hand and there is nothing we can do to change the outcome. I wish you peace with the situation over time.
Avatar f tn I'm living it right now and to be honest, I am aware of 5 to 7 steps or stages of the grief process, but they don't matter, because you survive one day at a time ....baby steps, and not time frame, since everyone heals at their own pace. It's been 2 years for me and I do feel better, but I am not yet completely healed...it takes a long time.
1880594 tn?1321160655 The suicide thing could be a compulsion in order to relieve your anxiety. This is the case with me I think. Of course it is only a short term fix and in the long run makes things worse as is the case with all ocd compulsions. I have pure O so my compulsions aren't so obvious. For instance, I may at times had a fear that I would harm someone I care about (obsession) so therefore I feel I should shut myself in my room (compulsion).
7588086 tn?1400793414 Toxoplasmosis can cause flu-like symptoms in adults (and sometimes has no symptoms). But in a baby in the early stages of pregnancy, it can cause serious birth defects such as eye and brain damage. These possible effects sound scary, but before you resort to giving your kitty away, take comfort in knowing a few things: Cats that never go outside are very unlikely to carry toxoplasmosis. Also, if you've been around cats for a while, you may be immune. Ask your doctor if she can check.
7052683 tn?1392938795 This is soooo sad. Believe me I have volunteered in Rescue a long time and, elderly cats especially, will wither and die if they are taken to a shelter. They just do not know what is happening the one they loved so much has left them in this place to die? So If you LOVE your furballs, as I know we all do, PLEAS think NOW about making arrangements for them. Do not just leave them. Some have been found in homes after their owner has died and are near death themselves with no food . OH!
Avatar f tn Please NEVER use a human product such as Benadryl without the guidance of a Vet.....this can also cause alot of harm even death if not used in the therapeutic range for cats. I am so sorry IM that it came down to costing you so much $$$ and caused kitty so much unnecessary pain and discomfort......we learn as we go don't we!! I'm glad it did work for kitty and she was able to live a long good life. BTW welcome to our cat forum.
Avatar f tn Stage 1 is considered a small amount of fibrosis. Stages 2 and 3 is considered a greater amount of fibrosis or scarring meaning the disease has progressed. The more fibrosis the harder it is on the liver to carry out it's functions. As the damage progresses further, many scars can form together, which can lead to stage 4, or cirrhosis.
Avatar f tn m not sure what your cat is like but I know that cats can become very jealous of New babies and cause them harm or even death in retaliation. I think you should watch that cat around the baby or get rid of it.
2093716 tn?1344094995 I have 2 cats and a dog and wouldnt dream of getting rid of any of them coz they are part of the family. I also kno sooooo many people who have bought up babies around cats n no probs. Just try not to do the litter tray whilst pregnant coz cat poo can dangerous to baby ,and then once it is born just try n keep cat away frm babies bed.
Avatar f tn Sometimes an enlargement causes heart failure. In the advanced stages , failure has symptoms of varying degrees. Some people are incapacitated and find it hard to move around, but others can get by ok.
1916426 tn?1322408083 My cat was recently de sexed he is a year and a half old and was given revolution which was applied to the back of his neck for worms and flea treatment. He and my other two female cats also have been wormed and flea treated and are continously getting fleas and worms. They are pooping everywhere, as in it is literally running from the rear end at stages.
Avatar f tn Since she had always been like this (including thin and just layed in a basket of blankets all day long) I never really thought anything of it. As of recently we decided to give her to my mom who really wanted an indoor cat and really liked Dinah - with all the problems we were having with our other 3 it seemed to be the best decision. My mom took the cat to the vet who said Dinah was severely malnourished, had tapeworms and fleas.
Avatar n tn Now I have the other three cats inside, and two of them were in since two days before this started. One of those two started showing signs of losing coordination in its legs. I immediately bathed them and separate them in different rooms of the house. I was suspicious the the first two had come in contact with a toxin of some kind and had spread it. the last two cats seem to be fine at the moment but I am watching them closely.
1098760 tn?1266447897 But its reached a concern point. Ive never seen this in our barn cats before. I wormed the one that stays in my home alot a month ago or so with the customary dosages. whats causeing this? I cant afford a vet but can order and administer anything.
1398064 tn?1280527282 Animals do have an instinctive understanding of death. It would be a finality, an acceptance. But this can so depend on the dog involved. How do you feel she would react to this? There will be some form of grief. For both of you. To a certain extent you can both share that, but don't let her get too unhappy....watch her for any signs of depression.
Avatar f tn ago, why she has never been referred to a liver specialist. She is in Florida - Broward Co. My sister says her doctor is in a state of the art facility there and she feels she gets excellent care. I don't have much say in regards to my sister as she has never come clean with her diagnosis, but I know enough that she is turning a new corner in this condition and she should start taking things more seriously.
Avatar m tn my anxiety is going through the ceiling and im panicing and i just started to notice as i type this that it seems theres all of the sudden a thick coating of mucus in my throat. please help me and respond asap. do you think its rabies? or is my anxiety causing an increased sex drive and working myself up too much?
Avatar f tn I'm allergic to cats. I have two cats. I developed an immunity to them just like my dad did to his cat. Eventually, you and your daughter will too. I've been involved in pet rescue for 7 years. I think it's really sad you are insisting on getting rid of two cats your husband has had for 12 years, no matter who cared for them. You're giving them a death sentence. 12 year old cats are rarely adopted.
Avatar m tn In dogs, it would take 3 to 8 weeks from the time of exposure before the brain is affected. In cats, the incubation period of the virus is between 2 to 6 weeks. Some cats would show clinical symptoms in two weeks after being infected. Others would carry the virus up to 4 years without manifesting clinical symptoms. Rabies is also known as the mad dog disease. Like all animals who have the rabies disease, the cat would go through the prodromal, furious and dumb stages.
