Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer Stage IV on August 21, 2007. My cancer has mets into my lung. I found out last week that my calcium levels are very high. I also suffer from severe rheumatoid arthritis and osteoperosis. My RA doc wanted me to take reclast for my RA. My cancer doc is concerned that my high calcium levels are indicators of my cancer spreading into my bones. I am having a bone scan on this Thursday coming up.
Avatar m tn There are actually only 4 stages that are used to describe the advancement of breast cancer. Stage 4 is when the cancer has spread to other organs and/or tissues such as the brain, bone, liver or lungs. It is stated that Stage 4 has a 5 year survival rate of only 16%. Please keep in mind that this varies according to the location of the metastisis. I personally know of survivors of many years with mets to the bone.

2088555 tn?1332655139 Hello and hope you are doing well. If you are a smoker and have developed long standing lung infections/inflammation it can compromise your lung function. Breathlessness on exertion could be due to the decreased lung function. There could also be superadded infection o the lungs. It's unlikely to be cancer of the lungs. To improve lung function practice breathing exercises and quit smoking. Lung function tests could further help in evaluation.
4461995 tn?1357955108 Stage 4 lung cancer is a pretty advanced stage. During the treatment, there are various side effects of chemo and radiotherapy, low immunity and hence secondary bacterial and fungal infections, low emotional well being, fear, guilt, etc. The patient needs all the support she needs in form of help at home, looking after her food, medication, attending to her when she is vomiting or generally too low to look after herself, doing her shopping, taking her to hospital etc.

Avatar f tn Stomach cancer may be without any signs and symptoms in the early stage. Avatar f tn There is life after cancer, and there are millions of people who go on to live many many years and decades after cancer treatment. Cancer is not a death sentence. There is always hope, especially if it is found in its early stages, it is when you ignore your symptoms and wait to see the doctor when it becomes more difficult to treat the cancer. It is best to ask these questions of your health care provider, get second opinions if you feel necessary. And then do what you think is best for you.
Avatar m tn While lung cancer usually does not cause signs and symptoms in the earliest stages, symptoms such as chronic cough, coughing up blood, chest pain, hoarseness, weight loss and shortness of breath may occur. To rule this out and ease any worry, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Direct clinical examination and additional diagnostic tests such as imaging studies of the lungs may need to be done. Take care and do keep us posted.
