Common Questions and Answers about Stages of death by starvation

death

Avatar n tn These can include high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension) caused by compression of blood vessels by scar tissue, or right sided heart failure, due to the heart having to pump harder to circulate blood through the lungs.7 Any of these things can lead to the cause of death. Patients with IPF can die from heart failure, respiratory failure, or collapsed lungs.
Avatar f tn I'm living it right now and to be honest, I am aware of 5 to 7 steps or stages of the grief process, but they don't matter, because you survive one day at a time ....baby steps, and not time frame, since everyone heals at their own pace. It's been 2 years for me and I do feel better, but I am not yet completely healed...it takes a long time.
Avatar m tn i there everyone im very worried about an incident that occured on 2 july, basiaclly i was at a freinds house who uses drugs(i dont by the way) and lost my mobile went to look for it, put my hand under the sofa and was pricked by an infected needle! i cant say how long it was there, but the cut was only very slight but drew blood if that makes a ny diff? i happen to know tweo of her junkie friends have hep b and c respectively so know it had tio be infected.
Avatar n tn Good day My question is how long it takes to starve out small lymphoma cancer, witch is merely 5 to 15 g in mass in area of armpits. By starving out i mean absolute absence of food intake except water, since cancer is bio organism even if its parasitical nature and it of course depends on nutrient, that means due to prolonged starvation cancer will eventually die. But how long it takes approximate to starve out pretty small cancer ? does two weeks of starvation will be enough ?

Please try to control this, as permanent damage to your relationships may result. This is a time for the release of bottled up emotion. You may rail against fate, questioning "Why me?" You may also try to bargain in vain with the powers that be for a way out of your despair ("I will never drink again if you just bring him back") 4.
Avatar f tn Please explain and could that explain why I have not lost any wt for almost a month.I have already lost 100lbs and need to lose 20more. Every day my calories burned exceeds my intake of calories by greater than 800cal..I need to restart loss and wondering if this "starvation mode" could be reason?
Avatar n tn I read something about your body conserving calories in starvation mode when it senses the calories are not enough. But I do not have any of the fatigue and hair loss symptoms of the "starvation mode." So, what is going on, why am I not losing weight? Does it have to do with my body conserving calories?
Avatar f tn She has to learn that YOU are in charge of the food, not her. She gets fed when YOU decide, not her. I do think this might help her to trust. You could start by getting her on her own, and saying "sit, wait, stay" only going for the treat when you tell her she can do. Graduating to being able to do the same when her dinner is put down for her. You might have to leash her to do this, while she learns a little discipline, trust and patience.
Avatar f tn Sometimes an enlargement causes heart failure. In the advanced stages , failure has symptoms of varying degrees. Some people are incapacitated and find it hard to move around, but others can get by ok.
Avatar f tn I am so very sorry about your little dog's passing. I obviously can't tell you what the cause of his death was. Only a necropsy (autopsy) could determine that. I am making an educated guess however, as when you said he had belly contractions, this reminded me of my own dear dog who passed from hemangiosarcoma. She had a massive internal bleed in her last few hours, and kept contracting her belly muscles. I know this was an instinct to try to get something out of her insides.
1201072 tn?1289760591 Hi Gary, It sounds as though you have your hands full right now. Sorry to hear of all this, by the way. Feel free to stick around to read and ask questions; sometimes adding to your knowledge base helps understand the situation a little better. You mentioned some hallucinations; while there’s no way to tell what’s happening without medical records etc, she might be suffering from elevated serum ammonia. This can occur as part of cirrhosis, and is manageable to some extent with meds.
Avatar f tn I Agree with the other posters above me. You can't put that much strain on your body too fast. You cut out 1000 calories a day, that's just too much! Like Trudie said, most of us need atleast 1200 calories a day. I was on 1780 calories lost 9lbs and went down to 1730 calories. You decrease slowly so your body doesn;t think your starving yourself.
Avatar f tn I just recently lost my daughter and struggle with that some question. It feels like everything is falling apart including me. But I'll tell you I always seem to think about all the horrible acts in this world and know that someone someplace is always experiencing more pain than I am. I pull it together for another day or so. I think some of us are more sensitive and maybe less able to deal with disaster or failure.
Avatar n tn Hi Doctor, I'm a 25 year old Belgian man with, in my eyes, a decent metabolism. From the age 11 to 18 I've always performed sports (gymnastics, competitional squash and eventually powertraining/fitness) while eating a regular amount to more then a regular amount of food, even to the extent that I couldn't gain weight from eating more and more. Mainly because I was unaware of nutritional values. People always told me I looked good, not skinny, weighing around 79kg (and stuck at it).
Avatar n tn Usually the woman in late stages of labor becomes acutely dyspneic with hypotension , experience seizures followed by cardiac arrest, massive DIC associated hemorrhage follows this and ends in death of the parturient. Death is mostly within an hour of onset. You can check related data in the books or the internet. Take care.
Avatar f tn I agree with applauding your clean time. It's not easy to quit, especially the beginning stages. Just keep at it; we have lots of love and support for you here. You have a good attitude and genuinely want this. We're here!
Avatar f tn Which i am defo not happy with!!! Now last year when i said i was 8s10lbs i lost that weighed by hardly eating anything ( i know all the usual things people say that by not eating u dont lose weight which is rubbish because i have done it that way twice before). Now for the past month i done the same hardly eating and going to the gym Mon-Fri, Some classes in there to. I can't seem to shift 1lb? Is there something wrong with me now? Do i have thyroid problems? Anything wrong with me?
Avatar f tn Yes it is!! It will prevent starvation and dehydration two of many things that can cause death.
Avatar f tn Stage 1 is considered a small amount of fibrosis. Stages 2 and 3 is considered a greater amount of fibrosis or scarring meaning the disease has progressed. The more fibrosis the harder it is on the liver to carry out it's functions. As the damage progresses further, many scars can form together, which can lead to stage 4, or cirrhosis.
Avatar f tn SPMS begins with an initial relapsing-remitting disease course, followed by progression of disability (3a) that may include occasional relapses and minor remissions and plateaus (3b). Typically, secondary-progressive disease is characterized by: less recovery following attacks, persistently worsening functioning during and between attacks, and/or fewer and fewer attacks (or none at all) accompanied by progressive disability.
Avatar f tn You might also just not be eating enough, so your digestive system can't handle what it gets. Your symptoms of hunger (even when uncomfortably physically full) and bloating sound very much like the early stages of recovery from starvation. It's possible that you have to push through the discomfort to get your digestive system back up to snuff. But of course it's worth seeing a doctor and considering the other possibilities.
Avatar f tn It has also been shown that both stages have different predictors of death (1). Therefore, it was recently determined, by consensus, that compensated and decompensated cirrhosis should be considered separate disease entities (4).
Avatar f tn I am going to have a fibroscan in a couple of weeks and i am expecting to have advanced liver fibrosis and ciarrhosis (not sure if thats spelt right)! I have heard of ciarrhosis measured in terms of 'stages', can anyone give me any infomation on what the stages mean so that i can be a little prepared for my appointment?
Avatar f tn I understand it takes about 40 seconds for a person to die of asphyxiation What I cannot find out is when you die of emphysema do you suffocate of die of asphyxiation? So, when you die of emphysema do you suffocate or die of asphyxiation and what do they each feel like. Does anyone have any feed back on this? My very best to all of you.
