t keep my skin under control without being on the pill, so I saw my gyn and she suggested I might feel better if I have a steady dose of hormones instead of the varying levels Tri Sprintec provided. She prescribed Sprintec, which I will be starting next week.
Could you help me understand the difference of how these two similar pills work? I know they are the same hormones, but how much do the levels differ?
I am expected to get my period tomorrow because I am on Sprintec birth control pill. I have been taking it for 9 months and I have never missed a pill, and the latest I have been was by an hour and a half six months ago. I take it within five minutes every day and am very good about my pill. I have unprotected sex with my SO, but we are curious if this is implantation bleeding or just a very strange period. I was on Ortho Tri for nine years, no problems. After switching to sprintec, the pills no longer worked. I was having periods while on the active pills and my vulva became dry and irritated (like a knife stabbing it). I can't get the pain to go away. Anyone else with this problem?
Yesterday my dermatologist prescribed me 25mg Spironolactone 2xD and Tri-Sprintec BCP to help clear my skin up. I trust her judgement with placing me on both of those medications, but what worries me is that it may be too much of a hormone change for my body. I know that birth control pills increase estrogen levels in the body and that spironolactone is an antiandrogen drug, and naturally the body will replace androgens with estrogen.
