I was on a triphasic pill for years (Tri Sprintec). It was good for keeping acne under control (which is why I originally went on it at age 20). But in the last few years I began suffering from extreme fatigue, lots of water retention, vaginal dryness, etc, and as all my tests were normal my PCP suggested the pill was causing it.
I went off the pill completely 4 months ago and about 2 months after started experiencing extremely oily skin and massive hair shedding, among other things.
I trust her judgement with placing me on both of those medications, but what worries me is that it may be too much of a hormone change for my body. I know that birth control pills increase estrogen levels in the body and that spironolactone is an antiandrogen drug, and naturally the body will replace androgens with estrogen. I'm scared that my already slow metabolism will slow down further with these medications and that I'll gain weight that I worked so hard to lose.

I have been on tri-sprintec birth control for 8+ years. I tried the depo Provera shot but it was making the bleeding worse so recently instead of taking a second shot my gyno put me on the Taytulla birth control pill. I took it for a week but was still bleeding in between and because I started losing my hair I decided to trade it for Tri-Sprintec pill.
So I’ve been taking Tri Sprintec for about 3 days and I have been passing ginormous clots bigger than a fist (I mean the clot takes up the entire pad and I have to change).

I'm 18 years old and I started taking tri sprintec birth control at the beginning of September and my period started in the second week of the pack. Its been 2 and half weeks and my period still won't stop and it keeps getting heavier and heavier and I've never had this problem. I called my gyno and they said to wait about 3 months and see what happens, but I don't think I can wait that long my period and cramps are killing me and I'm really moody lately.
I am wondering what is a good type of birth control to take for acne and that will regulate my period, but won't effect my hormones too much?
I have tried mulitple birth control such as ortho-tricyclen and multiple others that I can't remember the names to. They each helped with my acne and to regulate my period significantly but I didn't like taking them.
