Spotting between periods while breastfeeding

Common Questions and Answers about Spotting between periods while breastfeeding

period

Avatar m tn I don't think spotting is more common with more pregnancies. I'm pregnant with # 4 and have never had spotting. A lot of women don't get their periods at all while breastfeeding so if you're getting negative tests, I would guess the spotting is from your breastfeeding. Don't be afraid to call your Dr. though.
Avatar f tn I was on depo for about 2 1/2 years, I have been off of it for a year now and started to get my periods again last November, they have fairly regular with spotting in between. I entered in all my information of when is get my periods and how long, all my spotting etc in this app. Since November and they felt my periods were 48 days apart, yet I would spot fairly heavy for 2-3 days in between each 7 day period. Well my last cycle began on Feb 12 and lasted 5 days compared to usual 7.

Avatar f tn m just wondering if anyone has any advice or stories to tell if they have been in a similar situation to mine or has anyone gotten pregnant while breastfeeding and had no period. I love breastfeeding my little girl and want to continue till shes 1.
Avatar n tn Spotting between periods could be caused by uterine polyps. You should ask your gyno to do an ultrasound to rule that out before you get the IUD. The IUD helps for bleeding but only if your uterus is clear of polyps and/or fibroids. Otherwise you'll still have bleeding issues anyway even with the IUD.
Avatar f tn Mine started in January, the whole month, but only with spotting. But this month, starting 3/15, I started spotting. And today I am bleeding but not heavily with some small clots. I am not on any medication just multivitamins. I do work graveyard shifts as a nurse and thought it could be stress or not eating right. Someone please help in answering our questions. I can't explain not having intercourse with my husband because I am having this problem.
3930380 tn?1357887113 You can definitely get pregnant while breastfeeding. It being a birth control is a common misconception. However I have had very unregular periods after having kiddos. And before mine were always clock work.
Avatar n tn I think breastfeeding can stop you ovulating which is why you're not meant to get pregnant while doing it.
Avatar f tn I had my baby yesterday and i havent had any clots and im only bleeding enough to cover most of a regular sized pad (between bathroom trips). Im breast feeding. I know that causes gushes when my uterus contracts during feedings. Will that make the blood leave faster and bleeding to be shorter or will i bleed more? How long did u bleed??
470885 tn?1326329037 My Dr. put me on BC pills that were ok to take while breastfeeding. I'm sure your ob knows what to give you but there are quite a few options.

705947 tn?1228849793 Why am I spotting brown between my periods? I think I might be having a miscarrige. I was 55 days late last month but I had a 4 day period and now 16 days after my last period Im spotting brown.
Avatar m tn I had a difficult time understanding your post. I am unsure if you are currently having your period or not. I'm not sure why YOU'RE not sure if you had some spotting. I don't mean this to sound nasty, Sweetie, but either you did or you didn't have some spotting. It's pretty difficult to not recognize spotting when we see it. You said that when you wiped, there was a brown, gooey discharge. Almost all women get this from time to time.
Avatar n tn Hey everyone I am asking this question regarding my girlfriends problems she has been having lately. She usually has her period between the 20th-30th every month. She didnt have hers in august because she had just had her gallbladder removed im thinking, but had some weird things start to happen in early september. She thought she was having a period around the 8th of september but she said it was just spotting. I picked up a preg. test and it said negative.
Avatar n tn I ,too, have alot of spotting with discharge between my cycles. I do have a cyst on my left ovary associated with pcos. I'm am on metformin. I know they cause irregular bleeding. What I don't understand is why I am spotting the same time every month. I've read it could have alot to do with the changes in hormones. I've also heard some people spotting just before or during ovulation.

Avatar n tn Irregular periods and spotting in between can be a sign of a hormone imbalance. If you are not eating properly and may be anaemic that too can throw your menstrual cycle off balance as too can stress. It was wise of you to do a pregnancy test, because sometimes you can get a light show of spotting. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I am a 20-year-old female. About 7 months ago, I began spotting between periods. It would happen once or twice a month, in the middle of my menstrual cycle, and would last 2-3 days. The blood was light brown in color. After this happened a couple times, I went to see a gynecologist. When I described it to her, she said it was normal and that it was because I was ovulating, and that it may have been caused by stress.
Avatar f tn Some women do get periods while breastfeeding but they are more likely to be irregular. You can take a pregnancy test to make sure you aren't pregnant but it probably means nothing other than you are a breastfeeding mama and your hormones aren't quite to where they need to be to give you a regular period.
