hernia-surgery

Avatar m tn I am 28 years old with what is likely a sports hernia. There is no noticeable bulge or hernia, and the pain has become unbearable and will confine me to a bed for a week or two at a time. The pain originally manifested in my testicles, but recently I feel pressure in my groin area, resulting in a pinched feeling in my femoral nerves. I've consulted both Dr. Krischkan in Ohio and Dr. Petersen in Nevada, and both do a modified Shouldice (i.e., 2 layers vs. the traditional 4). Dr.
Avatar f tn I saw an orthopedic surgeon who didn’t think my symptoms matched a labrum tear but probably sports hernia. I had another MRI that showed I did not have sports hernia. I also had a scrotum ultrasound that showed nothing wrong with testicles. My question is, can a hip labrum tear cause sharp pain when the muscles are firing for ejaculation? My ortho didn’t think so but after the clean sports hernia mri we are discussing possible labrum surgery.
Avatar m tn 2- If money is an issue, get it done at an outside surgery facility not in a hospital, its cheaper, and has a lesser chance of infection... some hernia centers/ OBGYNs/Urologists and such have their own surgery facilities. That goes for anyone who needs any kind of surgery and is a little short on money a lot of people don't know this...trust me i work in the administrative part of a hospital (no medical experience) the difference in the price is HUGE!
Avatar f tn So, this is in a way something like a hernia. This can cause pressure on the spinal cord or on the spinal nerves, depending on the direction in which this hernia occurs. The treatment is usually conservative. After an initial period of 3-4 days of rest and painkillers, physiotherapy is started. Spinal manipulation, traction, back exercises, massage, etc are done. The patient may have to use specially designed corsets and braces for some time. These help the hernia to fall back into place.
Avatar m tn No improvement of pain in area. Doctor said to see hernia specialist, answer no hernia. To make a long story short, after many different doctor and therapyst visits and MRI's.Cat Scans and blood tests I was told to see hernia specialist again (different one) answer no again. I am in severe pain and unable to walk more than 15 minutes before burning pain starts. I am desperate for an answer.
1322711 tn?1278415855 I had gone to my doctor who sent me to ER thinking it was a hematoma from the surgery, tumor, or hernia. I had a CT scan done in ER and it showed up clean. Next step was my OBGYN who did an ultrasound. That came back clean. I was then sent to a GI doctor who did a colonoscopy and that also came back clean. I then went to a laparoscopy specialist who did not find anything either. I finally went to a general surgeon who also found nothing.
245285 tn?1220498346 1. How invasive is a surgery for something like this? I was reading about hernia surgery and it seems some are just done by laser - but I am guessing that mine be more involved than that? 2. If I were to get the surgery now, can I still have children later, or will it be too hard to repeat the surgical procedure once undone? I am in the Cosmetic Surgery section for this because my dr was going to set me up with a Cosmetic/General surgeon when it came time to do the surgery. Thank you!
Avatar n tn The Sports medicine specialist took X rays of my left abdomen and thigh and said that the X rays were fine. And looking at my symptoms told me it could be a muscle stain or a sports hernia. And gave me muscle relaxant medicine for the following two weeks. The sports medicine specialist also told me that he will take a MRI if the problem persists. But for these two weeks there hasn't been much improvement.
Avatar f tn osteoarthritis, tendonitis, muscle pull and strain, femoral neck stress fractures, lateral femoral cutaneous nerve compression (meralgia paresthetica), sports hernia or hidden/occult hernia of oblique aponeurosis, or Obturator or ilioinguinal nerve entrapment. You would need all or any of the following for diagnosis: Clinical examination by an orthopedic specialist, X-rays, blood tests, MRI or ultrasonnography. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!

205009 tn?1218559728 Based on the study and the fact that I continue to have pain and repeated herniations, can I continue with conservative care or do I need to look into surgery? Are there any clinical trials that would leave me with more ROM? Is there anywhere in the US where they are doing multi-level disc replacement? Any advice would be sooooooo welcome!

Avatar n tn Since you have had a scan and have seen your Plastic Surgeon then you need to see another Dr. for an evaluation of this problem. How about your Oncologist or even your PCP ?? Evidently there must be something awry and you need to find out what it is as soon as possible. It could even be a muscle injury since you say that have done some abd exercises which might not have been such a good idea. If you get no results from the two Dr.
Avatar m tn So my sister resides in Germany had a double bypass surgery on the 25th of March still hasn't woke from the surgery can you tell me do they have different technics there than here
Avatar f tn s hard to remember how I felt directly after my surgery but I remember it was not good! The whole year after my surgery I was very sick. I mostly layed around. I had to quit all my school sports and had no energy ever. My mom was constantly trying to give me ensure. I was super sick and had no appetite. I lost 20 lbs. It was very painful.
Avatar m tn I went to the orthopedic in the afternoon to get a true diagnoses of sports pubalgia/sports hernia which he said I definitely had. He did press on the hernia spots that caused pain and burning but I had the genitalia sensitivity and burning earlier in the day. This does cause burning as he said the torn muscles are irritating the nerves in the region. He suggested oral steroids or a corticosteroid in my pubic region to relieve the burning/pain.
Avatar m tn My son in law is living in Germany (be thankful those who live in the US - our health care is the best in the world) and he fractured his pelvic bone. I have a copy of the X ray and to the untrained eye it looks like a real break. He was told not to play sports and that is pretty much it. He is in great. pain, but the Germans do not belive in pain killers and all he is presently doing is sit on the couch since it is extremely painful to stand up.
Avatar m tn Does methamphetamine effect a pre existing sports hernia
Avatar m tn I have a sports hernia.
Avatar n tn I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor (PCP) and get a referral for a sports clinic and consult a sports medicine specialist. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn His dr is a chiari specialist and has stated that after the surgery he should be able to return to sports. The idea of sports makes me nervous, but I am trying to take a "wait and see" approach. Of course, it will depend on Dr's approval. It is Dr. Heffez and he is with the WI Chiari Institute in Milwaukee. I think each perosn must decide, with their doctors, what is right for them. Just my opinion.....like I said, we'll see.
Avatar n tn Hi Dr. -- I'm a generally healthy 30 YO male -- and I just lost my health insurance. I have an unresolved issue I'd like to get your opinion on. Over the last year or so, I've been noticing that I have to urinate very frequently -- often (relatively) small amounts. Lately, the stream has been weaker, too. There has also been occasional discomfort/slight burning feeling AFTER urinating (but not during).
Avatar n tn I have always had digestive problems, mostly lots of belching and sensitive stomach. I am 49 years old and very active with sports and other things. The last years have become horrible with belching after eating and a choking kind of feeling in my throat. It is worst at night. I take a lot of supplements, to see what can help. It is on the left side a little under my ribs. I think it might be a hiatial hernia, or acid reflux, or gastritis. All or which one?
Avatar f tn Also a soccer player and also so tempted to play through pain. Groin injuries are common in soccer. It could be a sports hernia. It could also be a healing pulled groin muscle. Does the pain increase with exertion?
