Avatar m tn I went to my speech therapy this morning. She had me saying ahhhhhh, ooooh, eeeeh and reading from what looked like a grade second reader. The she made a mistake. She said, "Tell me a little about yourself." Now, being a complete windbag I went into a dissertation that rocked her back on her heels. She kept asking me to take a deep breath as i talked.
Avatar f tn I have a speech problem and what didn’t help me was everybody reinforcing that I had the problem. That only willed the stronghold and made me believe it more. She’s still young tell her she can speak and when people speak they don’t think about what they are going to say they just speak. And just let her do it if she stutters or anything just wait for her to finish speaking. She’ll get it down and it would help to find out why she turned out that way. My dad made me stutter.

193609 tn?1292180293 She said that they do educational speech therapy and that Ashtyn needs Clinical speech therapy. Is there anything that would be as helpful as speech therapy since my insurance wont cover it and the ISD doesn't do the speech therapy that he needs? Ashtyn is very behind in almost all communication skills. I don't know what else to do for him, and no one can help him!
Avatar f tn is there another alternative to speech therapy? or another way to pay less... my insurance dosent cover it and it will cost 200 dollars for me to get it for my 2 yr old. and my husband just got laid off.. if so please anser back!!!!!!!!
667445 tn?1230750538 Yes U should look into speech therapy, but therapy in general...make sure his hearing is ok......there r forms of autisum that can case speech delays...look up aspbergers (sp?).......I hope ur son responds to whichever therapy u choose.
Avatar f tn Apraxia can refer to speech issues following a stroke (especially in an adult); developmental apraxia usually refers to speech issues from a "problem" in the brain neurotransmitters which are not caused by trauma but probably present at or before birth. But, I'm not an expert in this area - anyone else with to comment?
Avatar m tn HOpefully your son is going through the school system (early childhood education) or getting speech therapy or some sort of help. States are required to give you a free evaluation and offer these things to our children. Your pediatrician's office should refer you to an appropriate doctor.
Avatar m tn If you live in the states, your child qualifies for free intervention services (based on income) as well over and above that. Speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, etc.. As your pediatrician for a referral to that as well. Under federal law, your city must have a birth to three program for kids to help when intervention is needed. And then when your child turns three, your local school system takes over that intervention. But you do mention things related to autism.
Avatar m tn I am in very much worried about him. We are giving him speech therapy since one month and we admit him in a pre-school. Please advice.
Avatar m tn The Social Hygiene Clinic in Manila is in front of San Lazaro Hospital. Quezon City has two. One beside Ramon Magsaysay High School in Cubao (in front of Nepa Q Mart) and the other in in Veterans Village in Project 7.
Avatar f tn Only thing I have to do is remind him to take his pills. Speech never was affected but he had speech therapy to deal with cognition and swallowing problems. He was fine with a little limp..doesn't really need cane or walker unless we go to the mall or somewhere that requires more walking than what he can tolerate. I hope all goes well for your father. It seems like he's progressing rather well if they're talking about letting him out of the acute rehab center.
Avatar f tn html Ang HBV-DNA test ay pwede lamang kunin sa National Kidney and Transplant Institute sa me Quezon Avenue, Quezon City at sa San Lazaro Hospital sa Manila. Prices are 5000+ and 3000+ respectively.
Avatar n tn Hi, Brain injured patients may receive rehabilitation that involves individually tailored treatment programs in the areas of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, physiatry, psychology, and social support. A complete physical and neurological examination is needed in each treatment program. It would be best to discuss which treatment option is best for you with your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Btw, getting a birth to three person can help with speech. He should qualify for speech therapy which does not mean he has autism.
Avatar n tn Your local public school system must also evaluate him (free) and then provide services for him. Whether it is just speech therapy or early intervention preschool and occupational therapy. Communication takes a lot to make it happen. As far as sensory, the first time I looked, I didn't think it fit. But it has so many little things with it and polar opposites of kids can still have sensory----- it is hard to tell when they are so little. When my son was 4, it was much clearer.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I'm glad you gave an update from your speech therapy visit. It sounds like you have a good one and hopefully you will find the right combination of food consistency and flavor. I am picking up my afo next week - maybe we can compare notes. Mine is non-hinged, so I doubt i can sleep in it. I am getting it to stabiize my foot while my foot stress fracture heals. Do you happen to have any of those black boots they often give for foot injuries?
Avatar f tn He could be just a late speaker, and it sounds like there isn't a receptive language problem, which is good. However, if I were you, I would ask his pediatrician for a speech evaluation or referral to a speech and language specialist. Or, if you live in the US, you can contact your school district's early intervention program and get a free evaluation.
537497 tn?1292553056 That diagnosis was later retracted by the speech therapist but he continued with speech therapy from age 2 to age 5. The post above was very imformative!
676912 tn?1332812551 He doesn't have speech therapy. He's five years old. He speaks clearly, and has a huge vocabulary, normal for his age. I'm not 100% sure about all of it, but I know it has more to do with his brain and comprehension.
