She said that they do educational speech therapy and that Ashtyn needs Clinical speech therapy. Is there anything that would be as helpful as speech therapy since my insurance wont cover it and the ISD doesn't do the speech therapy that he needs? Ashtyn is very behind in almost all communication skills. I don't know what else to do for him, and no one can help him!

I have a speech problem and what didn’t help me was everybody reinforcing that I had the problem. That only willed the stronghold and made me believe it more. She’s still young tell her she can speak and when people speak they don’t think about what they are going to say they just speak. And just let her do it if she stutters or anything just wait for her to finish speaking. She’ll get it down and it would help to find out why she turned out that way. My dad made me stutter.

my 4 year also had a speech delay after speaking to her pediatrician she was put into a pediatric speech therapy session twice a week for 30 mins a day it has helped her so much she has completed her therapy and is now speaking in full sentences that we can actually understand speak to your pediatrician there is alot of local county hospitals that offers this pediatric therepy and they are wonderful with kids thats all they deal with is kids with problems in speech i hope this helps you

Hubby asked last night if we should relocate before* the baby comes - and I am trying to weight the pros/cons. I really love my DRs and where we will have this baby in Chicago - but Marin County (near SF has great facilities too). I also want to start ordering the nursery furniture - and it would be ideal to have everything set up in a place we stay - as opposed to setting up in Chicago then re-doing it a few months later in CA.

Yes U should look into speech therapy, but therapy in general...make sure his hearing is ok......there r forms of autisum that can case speech delays...look up aspbergers (sp?).......I hope ur son responds to whichever therapy u choose.

Your pediatrician should be able to recommend exactly what type of therapy he needs. Usually this is speech and occupational therapy. Sometimes physical therapy based on the need. Let me know if you have any more questions, I know quite a bit about this. Also, does he like dogs? You could use the money to get him a service dog.

Btw, getting a birth to three person can help with speech. He should qualify for speech therapy which does not mean he has autism.

With ablations you need to be patient because it can take a couple of months for everything to settle down...i am just north of you up in Santa Rosa and my doc was from Marin County. He is an amazing doc and if you are looking for a second opinion you could give his office a call. Hi Everyone- I'm new here, but I had a question about my 2 year old boy. He was diagonosed with PDD-NOS in August and he's been getting ABA therapy for about a month now. I was wondering if anyone has any great success stories with ABA. I know he's been getting only a month, but already I'm getting a bit frustrated. Before he started ABA, he has gotten 6 months of other therapy- speech, special instruction and physical therapy along with his twin sister.

He doesn't have speech therapy. He's five years old. He speaks clearly, and has a huge vocabulary, normal for his age. I'm not 100% sure about all of it, but I know it has more to do with his brain and comprehension.
