Avatar m tn The longer you wait the harder it will be for him to get control of his eating problem. Speech therapy to deal with his oral motor problems will make all the difference. Good luck.
Avatar f tn ve been acting lately, (even though all I did was stop *trying* to act like they wanted me to.) so I thought about looking into online therapy. It'll be enough to shut them up, but not enough to inconvenience me. Anyone know where I can get some? Preferably chat or email. Also: can someone tell me how email therapy works? Do you just write a whole bunch of stuff and they respond to it, or?
Avatar m tn I have been having a light headedness which m sure is linked to playing online games, I suffer with stress anxiety and playing these games takes my mind off stuff, but just recently my head goes fuzzy, last 1 I ended up wit like a migraine, anyone else suffer, ive stopped playing the games I did to c if it eases off
Avatar m tn I went to my speech therapy this morning. She had me saying ahhhhhh, ooooh, eeeeh and reading from what looked like a grade second reader. The she made a mistake. She said, "Tell me a little about yourself." Now, being a complete windbag I went into a dissertation that rocked her back on her heels. She kept asking me to take a deep breath as i talked.
193609 tn?1292180293 She said that they do educational speech therapy and that Ashtyn needs Clinical speech therapy. Is there anything that would be as helpful as speech therapy since my insurance wont cover it and the ISD doesn't do the speech therapy that he needs? Ashtyn is very behind in almost all communication skills. I don't know what else to do for him, and no one can help him!
667445 tn?1230750538 Yes U should look into speech therapy, but therapy in general...make sure his hearing is ok......there r forms of autisum that can case speech delays...look up aspbergers (sp?).......I hope ur son responds to whichever therapy u choose.
Avatar f tn MY SON IS 2 1/2 YEARS OLD, I AM VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE HE STILL IS NOT TALKING HE ONLY SAYS SEVERAL WORDS , WHEN HE WANTS. HE USUALLY JUST SCREAMS FOR WHAT HE WANTS OR POINTS EVERYTHING ELSE SEEMS NORMAL . I AM STARTING TO WORRY THAT THIS COULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH AUTISM OR ASPERGERS, HE TAKING SPEECH THERAPY ONCE A WEEK BUT IT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ENOUGH HE'S AFFECTIONATE, LOVING DOES NOT HAVE ANY REPETITIVE RITUALS I DON'T SEE ANY OTHER AREAS FOR CONCERN.
Avatar f tn t do online games...sometimes I even have a hard time with xbox...just not as bad as online gaming. I think lack of real people has something to do with it. What I'm trying to say is that they will have to realize they have a problem and chances are they aren't going to want to believe it. It's an addiction that is rarely mentioned especially since computers are so much a part of our everyday lives. If I were in the wife's shoes, or even your shoes.
500419 tn?1220124743 My son had a speech delay they recognized at 18 months after he had tubes put in his ears around the same time. I took him to speech therapy at "Columbus Speech and Hearing." They first did a hearing check to make sure everything was ok. Then autism was another good thing to look into. Their first plan of attach, though, was "early intervention" with speech therapy one day a week for a half hour at "Columbus Speech and Hearing.
Avatar n tn He certainly can read and seems to understand what he is reading. Due to insurance related issues, his therapy ended prematurely.. I would like to be able to communicate with him better. Can you suggests games, tools to help. I gave him a computer to see if he could type his messages but he could not. Are there other tools I can use? please help.
Avatar n tn Hm. Well, a speech delay can be very frustrating for sure. It can interfere with all kinds of things in a child's life from peer interaction to how a child expresses emotions to self esteem. Good for the parents for recognizing that getting help with speech is important and having her in speech classes. I'd practice all the things she does in speech therapy at home as well.
Avatar m tn he is progressing a little,he know to clap his hands, jumping.i hav seen the doctor and the doctor send me to the speech therapy...so the treatment is going on,he is making 4 words...and the teacher is working with him alone and told me to come to school...October i hav an appointment with the speech therapy and the teacher then they will decide wat to do...sometimes he reply wen u ask him a question n sometime he just repeats the questions....
Avatar f tn Play lots of games with him. Like listening to the sounds. Or following instructions like 'Simon says'. Speech therapists for children essentially just use games as a way to develop speech.
390140 tn?1219883889 If so did the stuttering resolve eventually or did you have to go off the medication? Did anyone ever seek speech therapy for stuttering related to Abilify, and if you did, was it helpful?
Avatar f tn He is going to start Physical therapy, ocupacional, and speech therapy. I hope this will help him. But do you think he has autism. We are going to see a neurologist on July I hope for that time he will improve a little bit.
Avatar f tn Her speech is quite understandable but not 100% by far. The speech therapist says that her breathing and speech are not coordinated and therefore she runs out of air and speaks fast and therefore speech becomes harder to understand. Does the fact that that she has yet to show any improvements in movementone month after the stroke mean that she will not improve?
Avatar n tn I have an 11 year old Aspie daugther--same IQ and issues. She does like video games, but spends most of her time online, endlessly researching whatever interests her at the moment. Until you live with an Aspie, you don't understand that you cannot force them to do anything they don't want to do, and they do not like things that "typical" kids their age do. I understand leaving the public school to homeschool. I homeschooled for 4 years.
Avatar n tn He also has a speech delay that was diagnosed about the age of two. He has speech therapy at school. He has been having problems at school this year with academics as well as behavior. His father, mother and I all feel that his behavior has gotten worse this past year.
Avatar f tn Then the kids need support when theyre older and dont have it. My advice always is to enjoy your child. If youre concerned about speech you can get free speech services from the state or privately through insurance. You can do ALOT yourself. The first step is always communicating needs. You can do this with body language or words/sounds. Place something he WANTS out of reach. Dont dangle it. Say the word or the movement you want and repeat this. It works phenomenally.
Avatar n tn If she has sensory issues you should try looking online for a sensory diet. AS for speech the best things is modeling speech in sound during play. Research the greenspan/floortime meathod, it is a great way to provide your child in home therapy, that you can do yourself, that will help her speech and development.
1772975 tn?1314149804 hallucinations (visual, auditory, etc), delusions, disoriented thoughts / speech. There are other symptoms, but you need to experience these for more than 3 months for it to be diagnosed as psychosis. You can not treat yourself for psychosis, but you can join support groups both in real life and online. You don't need medication if you don't want it, but I do suggest therapy.
Avatar f tn He should be receiving free speech therapy. I would definitely have him tested. Some of his behaviors reminds me of autism. I am just a mom. I hold no degress in this area. But, I would not enroll him in school at five but I would for sure demand the testing be done. Call your state board of education. You may have to put the request in writing. They then have 30 days to respond.
Avatar n tn No she doesnt sound Autistic but possily needs some speech therapy, do you and your husband interact with her Reading and a lot of talking ?some children are late developers aswell so dont get too worried yet ,find some little play group if there is one, other mOms there to compare with you.I agree with everything that tiredbut happy says in the above Post.
