Avatar f tn Is your son receiving speech therapy? I think that is the most important thing for him to improve his language. If he is already getting speech therapy, maybe he needs it more often.
1837213 tn?1318378088 ago and in my x ray, I was examined to have a dextroscoliosis 12 degrees. I am concerned how serious this is and what possible actions should I do to overcome this. Thank you very much.
Avatar f tn ve been acting lately, (even though all I did was stop *trying* to act like they wanted me to.) so I thought about looking into online therapy. It'll be enough to shut them up, but not enough to inconvenience me. Anyone know where I can get some? Preferably chat or email. Also: can someone tell me how email therapy works? Do you just write a whole bunch of stuff and they respond to it, or?
Avatar m tn I went to my speech therapy this morning. She had me saying ahhhhhh, ooooh, eeeeh and reading from what looked like a grade second reader. The she made a mistake. She said, "Tell me a little about yourself." Now, being a complete windbag I went into a dissertation that rocked her back on her heels. She kept asking me to take a deep breath as i talked.
193609 tn?1292180293 She said that they do educational speech therapy and that Ashtyn needs Clinical speech therapy. Is there anything that would be as helpful as speech therapy since my insurance wont cover it and the ISD doesn't do the speech therapy that he needs? Ashtyn is very behind in almost all communication skills. I don't know what else to do for him, and no one can help him!
667445 tn?1230750538 Yes U should look into speech therapy, but therapy in general...make sure his hearing is ok......there r forms of autisum that can case speech delays...look up aspbergers (sp?).......I hope ur son responds to whichever therapy u choose.
500419 tn?1220124743 My son had a speech delay they recognized at 18 months after he had tubes put in his ears around the same time. I took him to speech therapy at "Columbus Speech and Hearing." They first did a hearing check to make sure everything was ok. Then autism was another good thing to look into. Their first plan of attach, though, was "early intervention" with speech therapy one day a week for a half hour at "Columbus Speech and Hearing.
Avatar m tn But PTA does not take into account the fact that frequencies above 4000 Hz are also important for speech recognition. So PTA is not perfect, but it is the most commonly used tool to label hearing loss. Thanks for such a great question! Are you involved in the deaf community? Do you sign?
551683 tn?1220656108 I have CFS and if I have fibro, it is secondary. I haven't done water exercises, but I know that there was a recent research study on this conducted by the Section of Physical Education and Sports, University Pablo de Olavide, Seville in Nov0Dec 2007.
1714540 tn?1326830479 They see lots of kids with varying degrees of issues and maybe they can help you put a name to what is going on. Does he receive speech therapy and occupational therapy? If you are already at your preschool for early intervention------------- what services does he receive?
390140 tn?1219883889 If so did the stuttering resolve eventually or did you have to go off the medication? Did anyone ever seek speech therapy for stuttering related to Abilify, and if you did, was it helpful?
Avatar f tn Her speech is quite understandable but not 100% by far. The speech therapist says that her breathing and speech are not coordinated and therefore she runs out of air and speaks fast and therefore speech becomes harder to understand. Does the fact that that she has yet to show any improvements in movementone month after the stroke mean that she will not improve?
Avatar n tn If she has sensory issues you should try looking online for a sensory diet. AS for speech the best things is modeling speech in sound during play. Research the greenspan/floortime meathod, it is a great way to provide your child in home therapy, that you can do yourself, that will help her speech and development.
Avatar f tn Your sister will need a lot of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. As you might know, the brainstem controls most of our "automatic" functions (breathing, heartbeat, etc). I'm a 37 year-old gal who had a hemorrhagic stroke too and I'm here typing to you! The best thing you can do for her right now is to make sure she knows that her whole family loves her and is truly there for her. I wish you the best!
1772975 tn?1314149804 hallucinations (visual, auditory, etc), delusions, disoriented thoughts / speech. There are other symptoms, but you need to experience these for more than 3 months for it to be diagnosed as psychosis. You can not treat yourself for psychosis, but you can join support groups both in real life and online. You don't need medication if you don't want it, but I do suggest therapy.
Avatar f tn Im 14 years old [girl] and i have severe scoliosis (over 50 degrees, i expierence pain and compressed nerves, etc.) currently, i am wearing a cheneau gensingen brace and am getting schroth therapy, so my spine has been straightening. i’ve always wanted to do contortion, but im scared that stretching my spine is gonna make my scoliosis worse and be counterproductive with my therapy bcs online it says not to hyper extend your back.

Avatar f tn Btw, getting a birth to three person can help with speech. He should qualify for speech therapy which does not mean he has autism.
Avatar n tn Hi, Brain injured patients may receive rehabilitation that involves individually tailored treatment programs in the areas of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, physiatry, psychology, and social support. A complete physical and neurological examination is needed in each treatment program. It would be best to discuss which treatment option is best for you with your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I'm glad you gave an update from your speech therapy visit. It sounds like you have a good one and hopefully you will find the right combination of food consistency and flavor. I am picking up my afo next week - maybe we can compare notes. Mine is non-hinged, so I doubt i can sleep in it. I am getting it to stabiize my foot while my foot stress fracture heals. Do you happen to have any of those black boots they often give for foot injuries?
Avatar n tn Hi! I learned (in this forum as a matter of fact) that dextroscoliosis is when the spine curves to the right. My report says "There is 20 degrees dextroscoliosis of the mid thoracic spine." OK, I know it's not normal, but is 20 degrees too much or is it mild? Will this affect me at all? I did go in the first place because of back pain, but the report also says that "There is straightening of the normal cervical curvature likely secondary to muscle spasm.
432638 tn?1205155390 The assessment at least in my state took over 2 hours and was done by a trained speech pathologist and an occupational therapist. In addition to speech therapy there are occupational therapists who deal with sensory issues or poor motor skills and developmental therapists who kind of deal with all developmental delays and tie everything together.
Avatar m tn North Carolina peaked out @ 77 degrees Tomorrow even better 82 degrees. Did a little early spring cleaning____ baseboares, blinds, spent some time outside. Avatar n tn Hi Everyone- I'm new here, but I had a question about my 2 year old boy. He was diagonosed with PDD-NOS in August and he's been getting ABA therapy for about a month now. I was wondering if anyone has any great success stories with ABA. I know he's been getting only a month, but already I'm getting a bit frustrated. Before he started ABA, he has gotten 6 months of other therapy- speech, special instruction and physical therapy along with his twin sister.
