Avatar f tn It kinda feels like i just got out of the dentist.. like that numb feeling. But I literally sound like one of them tone deaf people and i dont know what it could be from. i looked up stuff online but nothing seems to be giving me hints on what it is. you're about 3 weeks ahead of me so just wondering if you had the same problem?
Avatar f tn I would try to assess whether this is only a speech problem, or whether the speech problem is just one of many other problems not expressed in your question. Prof.
Avatar m tn Then there is the mechanical part of communicating our language and that is speech. Problems with speech can include just trying to get the words out, pronouncing the words, the tonal quality of our speech, using emphasis and inflection. Problems with speech can be from weakness or spasticity of the muscles of our mouths, throats and vocal cords. Or it can be with the way our brain tries to direct the speech.
9771188 tn?1405907831 Has anyone had problems communicating? I have problems with finding the right word to use. Sometimes I use I will get so frustrated. My family and friends say that I repeat myself a lot. I do know this, especially when I am excited, happy or upset. I completely lose my train of thought. I used to be able to speak in public, and train people. This has been difficult for me. Am I alone? I have battled through much worse demons than this, but I don't want to give up now.
Avatar f tn 2013, he received the clot buster shot with in 2 hours. After a couple of days he was completely the same physically. His problems are speech and mental. He has had 2 spells since where he was hospitalized, they did not know the first time if it was a mini stroke, on the second time they ruled out mini strokes and diagnosed him with seizures. He was put on seizure meds, the dosage has been changed 3 times. He seems to be doing well now.
1088527 tn?1425313375 Kat, please take care and pursue all the best treatment options. I hope you have a really good MS doctor. This kind of issue is one of the most serious in MS, even though it's not 'typical,' whatever that may mean. Let us know how things are going, okay?
Avatar f tn It scared the daylights out of me too, until I spoke with one of our speech therapists. She said that what I was going through was pretty normal for someone in my particular situation. Kinda like a "feast or famine" thing. Your doc has cleared you of an MND, so examine your lifestyle. Possibly it could relate to what happens to me? If you are still having this difficulty, speak with your doctor again about a speech eval and just go from there.
Avatar m tn There is to much of a stigma that exists . Im just in shock. I didnt think that Nurses where so prone to addiction. I didnt really think anything about how easy it was for her to get the drugs. I thought that maybe the people she worked for and with where informed enough about addiction that they would interveine before something like this happened.
Avatar m tn Hi, i went through exactly what you did. I felt like I couldn't breathe all the time even though the spirometer tests were normal and I was scared about it. Have you seen a speech therapist? It made a world of a difference for me. What happened is, and I know this sounds crazy, but your body has probably forgotten how to breathe. Since anxiety makes people have bad breathing patterns, even when you're not anxious, you can feel out of breath.
Avatar f tn I hate when Dr's an nurses tell you not to freak out because that just makes me freak out! Ugh I just wanna go home...
Avatar f tn Speech problems is definitely a sign of a possible speech impediment. I would definitely suggest that she go to an audiologist to have her hearing checked. How do I know this? I am one of them.
Avatar f tn it can also cause nystagmus, signs of cerebellar problems like ataxia. Apart from these it can also cause swollen gums and lips and easy bruising and bleeding. Hope this helps!
6935419 tn?1392153040 I didn't have bleeding or pai n after but my last one was so painful going in, coming out, and pretty well the whole time in. I was crying and everything the nurses didn't even believe me at first and kept saying i shouldn't feel it all. They took it out and redid it two or three times before giving up and leaving it in. It was awful. I had a catheter with all of mine bc I had an epidural with them all and that was the only one that hurt.

Avatar n tn It has happened to me three times that a patchwork of many colored stripes has taken over the vision of my left eye, blotting out true sight. The colors are beautiful and somewhat beyond our color spectrum but the experience is very upsetting. Closing the eye does not make it go away. Just when you are getting really alarmed, it goes away. I found out only recently that this was an optic migraine.
Avatar m tn There are three parts of speech--- articulation (making the sounds) is one we all think of with speech. but there is also receptive speech (the ability to take in and organize what is said to you so that you can understand it) and expresssive (the ability to formulate the thoughts you want to express, to organize those thoughts into words to speak). Motor planning has a huge impact on these speech componants.
Avatar m tn t say much. Not communicating very much has fed my speech problems and really hurt my social skills and my self-esteem, so I've decided to finally try to do something about it so I can feel comfortable making conversation with people. After listening to recordings of my speech and watching myself speak on video and in a mirror, I definitely noticed that I don't speak with very good articulation.
1442701 tn?1286383987 It is harder walking at the end of each day. Today wasn't a good one. The buzzing sensation started when walking this morning & I had to ask someone else to take workers around to show service locations! I was so embarrassed & then one lady had the nerve to ask me if I would qualify for disability! Sheeps wool!!! I was so aggravated! My first MRI showed lesions in the gray matter in 2005. The person reading it said it indicated MS to them. Went to neuro & he said migraines.
Avatar f tn m trying to ask is- a)in the case of older kids with very strong personalities, what do you suggest? b) I want to be clear on his speech delay. My son has scattered skills including with speech. He knows how to say "I have to pee pee" or "I have to poopie" so the speech isnt an issue in this case, people potty train nonverbal kids. I am certain I can get him to pee in the potty on a schedule but I dont know how to get him to tell me he has to go.
Avatar f tn W/PHYSICAL THERAPY AND AT HOME EXERCISE HE WAS DISCHARGED W/FULL ROM. HE MET ALL OF THE MILESTONES EXCEPT SPEECH, AT 18MONTH HE STARTED W/HI & BYE . MY CONCERN NOT ONLY LYES W/SPEECH BUT I DONT BELIEVE HE UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING I SAY TO HIM. HE BABBLES HIS OWN WORDS LIKE HE REALLY HAS ALOT TO SAY BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT HE IS SAYING. I HAD A HEARING TEST (BAER) TO SEE IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND IT WAS NORMAL. I TOOK TO A DEVELOPMENTAL PED. DOC AT 18 MONTHS AND HE DID NOT SUSPECT ANY AUTISM.
Avatar n tn I've had a stroke of the brainstem (and have lived to talk about it). The brainstem is pretty important in that, among other things, controls a lot of the body's "automatic" functions (heartbeat, breathing, etc). He'll need a lot of therapy (occupational, physical and speech) after his coma, but everyone can help him now by keeping his joints and muscles limber and making-sure there is constant touch (for the firing of neurons) with his skin.
645800 tn?1466860955 This test checks your ability to decode (ability to quickly and accurately process speech), Tolerance fading memory (ability to understand speech in noise and short term memory), Integration (ability to pull together auditory information), and organization (organize and sequencing of auditor information). Basically they present 4 words that you have to repeat back, but they say other words in the opposite ear at the same time. Again I had horrible test results.
