Avatar m tn t mention any speech impediments, like stuttering or lisping, only that his speech was limited to one word responses, and that those responses often made no sense. Is it possible that the boy is uncomfortable with you, and behaves oddly because of it?
Avatar m tn Yesterday during a car ride I experienced many symptoms, starting with nausea and hot flashes then I got tingly fingers and lips, got out of the car and for a few min I could not speak properly I was slurring and lisping very heavily it was very scary. It went away within a few min and we continued the ride, the whole night I had a headache and sensitivity to light.
Avatar n tn He mumbles loudly and uncontrolably while doing his work, whines constantly, extremly impatient when needing help, poor gross motor skills, anti social at times, some lisping, always wants to wear is hood up even on sunny days, .... At the same time he is very kind and hard working and seems to beabe to do the work for his age and grade. He is driving all his teachers crazy! We constantly point out these behaviours but some days they seem to be gettiing worse.
Avatar m tn Then there is the mechanical part of communicating our language and that is speech. Problems with speech can include just trying to get the words out, pronouncing the words, the tonal quality of our speech, using emphasis and inflection. Problems with speech can be from weakness or spasticity of the muscles of our mouths, throats and vocal cords. Or it can be with the way our brain tries to direct the speech.
Avatar f tn Assuming your problem is lisping sound, which is not supposed to happen after final restoration. Effortless and clear pronunciation should be verified during temporary restoration. Final restoration is supposed to duplicate the temporary crowns. Probably, inner surface of upper anterior crown can be grinded to facilitate pronunciation.I am not very good at verbal english, this is probably the best I can do, hope this helps.
9771188 tn?1405907831 Has anyone had problems communicating? I have problems with finding the right word to use. Sometimes I use I will get so frustrated. My family and friends say that I repeat myself a lot. I do know this, especially when I am excited, happy or upset. I completely lose my train of thought. I used to be able to speak in public, and train people. This has been difficult for me. Am I alone? I have battled through much worse demons than this, but I don't want to give up now.
Avatar f tn It has been on my mind for quite some time , how many of you have had the slurred speech.?. I also would like to know how you felt right before it started.? For me I could tell it was going to happen. I could feel it in my mouth, jaw, upper neck like it was tightening up. It felt like my tounge was very heavy and lazy. One more question What other symptoms did you have with it? I had brain fog, word searching, and lightheadedness.
Avatar m tn It was at that point I started worrying and noticing that I was making (more?) errors then normal when speaking. Errors like occasionally lisping, combining words (e.g. Pour a full drink would come out as Pull a four drink), sometimes using a similar word that I meant that didn't quite fit. But I would instantly realize I made a mistake and correct it. I also realized I was making small errors reading.
Avatar m tn Over the past years my I have gained new symptoms like slurred/lisping speech, delayed thinking or trouble finding words, horrible short term memory issues, tremors, weakness in my left arm to where I can not left it up high without being in pain. I used to be able to carry grocery bags etc but now I cant even lift them, I am that weak in the arm. I am also having issues with a metallic taste in my mouth, along with a numbing tingling sensation in my fingers, legs, toes.

Avatar m tn t breathe all the time even though the spirometer tests were normal and I was scared about it. Have you seen a speech therapist? It made a world of a difference for me. What happened is, and I know this sounds crazy, but your body has probably forgotten how to breathe. Since anxiety makes people have bad breathing patterns, even when you're not anxious, you can feel out of breath. I laughed when I was told to go to a speech therapist but I was oh so wrong.
Avatar f tn My 4 year old granddaughter has obvious speech problems. It is very hard to understand her. Her speech patterns have also changed. She used to call her mother "Mama-ee" and now she calls her "Mahee". She cannot pronounce her own name, Meaghan. I want my daughter to get her a hearing test and she says she does not think she has a hearing problem.
Avatar m tn The arches feel that they are too narrow for my tongue, but I have been told this is a normal sensation. Additionally, I am still lisping. Again, I have been told that this is normal and should go away. How long an adjustment period should I expect before I start worrying that the arches need modification. As the work was done in Mexico and the dentist there says this is not a fit problem and as I have no recourse against him that I know of, where would I go for help?

Avatar m tn There are three parts of speech--- articulation (making the sounds) is one we all think of with speech. but there is also receptive speech (the ability to take in and organize what is said to you so that you can understand it) and expresssive (the ability to formulate the thoughts you want to express, to organize those thoughts into words to speak). Motor planning has a huge impact on these speech componants.
Avatar m tn t say much. Not communicating very much has fed my speech problems and really hurt my social skills and my self-esteem, so I've decided to finally try to do something about it so I can feel comfortable making conversation with people. After listening to recordings of my speech and watching myself speak on video and in a mirror, I definitely noticed that I don't speak with very good articulation.
1442701 tn?1286383987 It is harder walking at the end of each day. Today wasn't a good one. The buzzing sensation started when walking this morning & I had to ask someone else to take workers around to show service locations! I was so embarrassed & then one lady had the nerve to ask me if I would qualify for disability! Sheeps wool!!! I was so aggravated! My first MRI showed lesions in the gray matter in 2005. The person reading it said it indicated MS to them. Went to neuro & he said migraines.
Avatar f tn m trying to ask is- a)in the case of older kids with very strong personalities, what do you suggest? b) I want to be clear on his speech delay. My son has scattered skills including with speech. He knows how to say "I have to pee pee" or "I have to poopie" so the speech isnt an issue in this case, people potty train nonverbal kids. I am certain I can get him to pee in the potty on a schedule but I dont know how to get him to tell me he has to go.

400099 tn?1282954864 s not really bad at this point. I have to go to speech therapy to learn tips, exercises to strengthen muscles in throat, etc. Is this common with relapsing remitting MS? It's been hinted at that I've moved onto secondary progressive. Does anyone else have swallowing problems?
645800 tn?1466860955 This test checks your ability to decode (ability to quickly and accurately process speech), Tolerance fading memory (ability to understand speech in noise and short term memory), Integration (ability to pull together auditory information), and organization (organize and sequencing of auditor information). Basically they present 4 words that you have to repeat back, but they say other words in the opposite ear at the same time. Again I had horrible test results.
