1961938 tn?1398718101 I am giving a persuasion speech about natural child birth. I figure its a good topic because I want to know all about it before I do it anyways lol. Anyways do any of you ladies have good resources on the topic? Even resources pro interventions are welcome. I don't want to be so narrow minded in my speech ;) also birth stories of natural births and others would be very helpful.
Avatar n tn My nephew has severe eczema and we have exhausted all resources. He is 1 year old and is allergic to soy, dairy, wheat, oatmeal and several other foods that did not test positive with an allergy test. He is under weight because of this. He is also seeing a speech therapist because he isn't progessing at the rate he should be with speech (this could be completely unrelated). I refuse to believe that my nephew is allergic to everything that he barely has enough nutrious choices.
Avatar m tn s thyroiditis have tongue issues that has/had an impact on your speech? I have the scalloped appearance to my tongue, a swollen feeling near the back and underneath the tongue which affects my speech. Did the thyroid meds fix the problem and if so, how long did it take?
Avatar f tn My 2 year old recently had an MRI done to determine the cause for his right sided weakness (developmental delay) as well as delayed speech. The MRI showed possible cortical dysplasia. I understand the basics but all the info we got from the doctor was in medical speak and we so overwhelmed we forgot to ask questions. Just wanted get anyones input on what exactly it is, what the problems may be, how it happened, anything? Thanks.
Avatar f tn My son, Nathan started "flapping" his hands around 2-years old. He started speech therapy at 4. He was always very co-operative. So when he was 4 he was put on a IEP. He started kindergarden in Chicksands, a Air Force military base in England. It was a the District of Georgia we were in. Anyway, I had alot of support there with speech therapy, small muscle therapy and a program that was made for him to attend kindergarten all day. He was not very co-ordinated.
Avatar n tn s just that they utilize their normal speech and language abilities only in certain situations. Usually speech/language therapy per se is not useful for such children, though some forms of group speech/language therapy (focusing on the pragmatics of communication) might be helpful. Likewise, cognitive-behavior therapy, focusing on the anxiety such children usually display in out-of-home settings, can be useful. As you consider intervention, it is important to obtain accurate diagnosis.
158939 tn?1274915197 CNN has combed through all sorts of resources for cancer patients (support groups, treatment options, interpreting lab/pathology results, finding a good doctor, grants for health care, etc.). From what I read, it's amazing. Cheryl - could this become a permanent link in the health pages??? http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/conditions/05/21/ep.cancer.resources/index.
Avatar n tn Talk to your doctor and ask for a referral to a speech-language pathologist. This is a therapist specially trained to help with problems such as the one you are describing. It sounds like you are having trouble with the strength of your vocal cords, or with something blocking the movement of your vocal cords.
Avatar n tn Hi, I think it might be due to altered blood supply in brain on left side. Have you got any imaging study done? Your symptoms are not localized, they are generalized hence involvement of any vessels can be suspected. Alternatively it can be due to stress and anxiety. Yes, Stress and anxiety can do this.
384896 tn?1335294331 m 6 months pregnant with another girl. I just got my kids into speech therapy yesterday, and the therapist is concerned that my son may have SPD. She didn't explain to me what it was really so I went home and did a little research and turns out this disorder fits my son to a perfect T. I also read that this disorder is mostly caused by mental disorders such as Autism and Aspergers. Which really scares me.
Avatar f tn Seek help from the school's resources. I have a friend well into their college years still stuttering. It needs to be fixed, or it will effect their relationships, communications, social skills, and employment/careers.
Avatar f tn I like the information on bipolar at ************.com. Wiki is also always a good choice... you could have googled and resources would have come up.
Avatar f tn The pathology report revealed that I had microcarcinoma, metastasis to the lymph nodes, and BRAF +. I have tried to search medical journals and have found that the ranges for these conditions are between 100-150 and 150-200. I'm 5'2 and weigh approximately 140 lbs. Thank you.
Avatar f tn So, around this time last year I experienced tingling in my left hand that lasted for a few days, coupled with extreme fatigue. Days later, I developed nystagmus only upon waking that lasted for about 10 minutes or so. That eventually went away after about a month. About six months later I had a severe headache that migrated to my right eye and lasted for over a week. Went to an optometrist, no optic neuritis.
Avatar f tn Pathology report shows infiltrating mammary carcinoma, no special type, low combined histologic grade, Low proliferative rate with apocrine cytology, measuring at least 6MM in greatest extent (best measrued on P63 IHC Slide) Calponin and P63 show absence of myoepithelial cells int he neoplastic tubules, consistent with an invasive interpretation. Immunohistochemical studies for estrogen receptor and progesteron receptor are negative. My questions: No special type? What does that mean?
Avatar f tn You can still request that your slides be read by another Pathology Lab. If you aren't seeing a Breast Specialist I suggest that you do so and this might help clear things up for you. I'm sure you are more than aggravated at how things have gone in the past. I'm not sure why the ADH wouldn't show up on Excisional Biopsy unless the area was so small that it was removed by the previous needle procedure/ OR/ the Excisional Biopsy did not include the area of ADH.
Avatar f tn t seen that as a test for dysphagia in any MS forum. It seems more relevant to get a barium swallow or speech pathology assessment. I've had so many tests lately, and spent so much time at the clinic, that I'd like to avoid this if it's not necessary. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn Use all your resources...internet, friends, references, staff and other informative resources that can help you decide. Nursing homes really just take care of the patient with little or no rehab. Do you have a HealthSouth in your area? In bigger cities HealthSouth has a good name. I wish I would have done the leg work when my husband had a hemorrhagic stroke in July. I live in a small city and the rehab center was a nightmare.
Avatar m tn I'm very surprised that a speech therapist would note that he's progressing at a much slower than normal rate but "didn't need therapy". ?? I would call your local school and ask who they think is a good speech therapist and start again. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn Please consult doctor or get the X ray cervical spine done to rule out cervical pathology. Avoid thick pillows too and also get your blood pressure checked.
Avatar m tn Hi from Atlanta GA. Just found the group in my search for information following the adrenalectomy my wife recently had - had her left adrenal gland and tumor removed. Had a 8.4 cm tumor removed with adrenal - pathology suggested Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma (ACC) - a so-called "ultra rare cancer". so rare that oncologist has sent pathology off the Nat'l Institutes of Health for analysis and recommendations. hoping this forum might weigh in with ideas and resources and guidance..
Avatar n tn We just received the pathology results yesterday and found that the cancer was now in his bladder muscle as well and that it is now Stage II. The doctor is recommending removal of the bladder ASAP. I have a few questions: 1) At this point, is removal of the bladder the best action to take? 2) If he does try to beat the cancer with chemotherapy or radiation while trying to save his bladder, is this an extremely dangerous gamble? The doctor made it seem like it is.
Avatar f tn Dear Joacs456 (using your nickname) Really very sorry to hear that. From your question it appears as though there is a pathology in brain--like aneurysm, hematoma etc due to injury. I am sure MRI must have been done after and before surgery. What do the reports say? Have you consulted a senior neurologist? A more detailed information about medical reports and Neurologist's opinion will be very helpful.
