Avatar n tn Now this lump extends the back of my mouth going under my tongue and then connects to the back of my tongue. The pain is now constant and only lessons with ibuprofen. I now also have pain going to my ear and to the back of my head when I move my tongue a certain way, so I have to be careful not to move it that way. I have had a CT scan, been treated with 2 rounds of antibiotics, and was also told to stop using Colgate.
Avatar f tn What do you mean "some tissue?" Like a goiter, "growth" My sons both had mono & never lost their voice. My youngest son had so many strep throat cases that he finally got his tonsils & adnoids removed at 5 years old. Never lost his voice. Why is he losing his voice?? From "some tissue," his thryoid, or what? What was the doctors explanation on why he has no voice. That would be my question.
Avatar m tn s thyroiditis have tongue issues that has/had an impact on your speech? I have the scalloped appearance to my tongue, a swollen feeling near the back and underneath the tongue which affects my speech. Did the thyroid meds fix the problem and if so, how long did it take?
Avatar f tn If his receptive language is slow, then directins would be hard for him. As his speech is developing, pay attention to the areas of speech -------- receptive, expressive and articulation. Even a slight issue can cause things to be harder for him. I'd try to remain patient. As he does get closer to two, it is natural to test boundaries and authority and to try to gain independence.
Avatar f tn s parents at conference time regarding teaching their children at home the difference between internaized speech and outloud speech. Thanks again for your advice!
Avatar n tn His IQ was in the 90th percentile when he was formally evaluated. He speech is at part with peers thanks to 6 months of speech therapy (he picked up on in lessons quite fast). He is better a initiating play, but still have trouble maintaining play when two or more kids are present. All this time we thought that he only wanted to play with the other kids a little bit and preferred to play on his own.
Avatar n tn before Trin's hasty departure(s) she wisely pointed out that I'm on tx and not making sense so take the following with a grain of salt. If anyone can show me where I'm making a mistake I'll be grateful - so far it looks to me as if Merck should be taking poker lessons from Vertex's Bob Kaufman. First there's the issue of how he convinced the street tela response among naives was 79% when vertex's own data indicates at least 5% less, but never mind that.
Avatar f tn suggested occupational therapy then speech therapy. She said that some kids who have speech delays are showing some Autistic traits that will disappear later on. My husband doesn't want him to start any therapies yet because he said he's still young & he wants to give him a time because he believes that it's not Autism. We enrolled him to a toddler class instead so he can interact with other kids because he's our only child & he doesn't have playmates.

Avatar f tn So, around this time last year I experienced tingling in my left hand that lasted for a few days, coupled with extreme fatigue. Days later, I developed nystagmus only upon waking that lasted for about 10 minutes or so. That eventually went away after about a month. About six months later I had a severe headache that migrated to my right eye and lasted for over a week. Went to an optometrist, no optic neuritis.
Avatar f tn Pathology report shows infiltrating mammary carcinoma, no special type, low combined histologic grade, Low proliferative rate with apocrine cytology, measuring at least 6MM in greatest extent (best measrued on P63 IHC Slide) Calponin and P63 show absence of myoepithelial cells int he neoplastic tubules, consistent with an invasive interpretation. Immunohistochemical studies for estrogen receptor and progesteron receptor are negative. My questions: No special type? What does that mean?
Avatar f tn You can still request that your slides be read by another Pathology Lab. If you aren't seeing a Breast Specialist I suggest that you do so and this might help clear things up for you. I'm sure you are more than aggravated at how things have gone in the past. I'm not sure why the ADH wouldn't show up on Excisional Biopsy unless the area was so small that it was removed by the previous needle procedure/ OR/ the Excisional Biopsy did not include the area of ADH.
Avatar f tn t seen that as a test for dysphagia in any MS forum. It seems more relevant to get a barium swallow or speech pathology assessment. I've had so many tests lately, and spent so much time at the clinic, that I'd like to avoid this if it's not necessary. Any thoughts?

Avatar f tn Dear Joacs456 (using your nickname) Really very sorry to hear that. From your question it appears as though there is a pathology in brain--like aneurysm, hematoma etc due to injury. I am sure MRI must have been done after and before surgery. What do the reports say? Have you consulted a senior neurologist? A more detailed information about medical reports and Neurologist's opinion will be very helpful.
Avatar n tn While he eats most things today, he has periods of incessant drooling and runny nose that come and go during the day and night. His voice and speech are significantly impaired as well. The speech therapists have said there is nothing more they can do to help. Although he cannot walk and is in a motorized wheelchair, this is the worst part of the stroke. Has anybody ever seen these excess secretions and is there anything that can be done to give this man some relief?
