Avatar f tn Walking on toes may signal neurological issues. That can be characteristic of children with ASD (autism spectrum disorders). How is he with conversations? Does he start conversations? Initiate play? Takes turns? What about his play skills - does he engage in imaginative play? Does he imitate you or peers? My child (4.5) has some borderline ASD characteristics, although some doctors are positive that he does not have it, and some are not so sure...His teachers do not think he has ASD.
Avatar m tn doctors can help you with the choice of therapies (speech therapy, OT, social skills classes, behavior modification). If you can not affort the private evaluation, you live in the US and he is turning 3, you need to call your local public school district for help. The school district will need to help you free of charge.
84015 tn?1211461201 I see you have been on here a long time, so you have probably read a lot of posts. Please look back in your memory as to what you have read for ideas. Also, we don't know how long you would be allowed to speak, and who you will be speaking to. If you only will be speaking to other graduates, then speak about what you have suggested above, not only for him, but praise the others. They will need that also. Speak about how important aftercare is.
770551 tn?1305578901 My son has been seeing a dr to try to get help with some behavior issues. At school he can not sit still and often goes into what we call his wild man, attacking other children, ripping things off the walls. He is O.K. with one on one but horrible in a group. Even with other children will only play with them one at a time. He can never tell me the names of anyone he's played with. He walks on his tippy toes and drools.

Avatar f tn t share well, makes goofy noises at times, and, literally, does not stop talking, even on medication for ADHD. His persistent need to talk, comment on the topics being taught in class, correcting others, etc., aggravate others and, thus, he is teased alot and has been the recipient of a lot of bullying. Additionally, he has difficulty writing notes from dictation, from the board, and a lot of difficulty getting his thoughts on paper.
Avatar f tn It seemed to loosen up my speech a little. then on the way home there were times when my speech seemed a little crazy. I just found out from my boyfriend that he thinks I have sleep apnea also, but apparently this has happened on and off for two years and I have always snored so I assume that this would not be another sign of MND. It is just so scary.
Avatar m tn From reading up online that I've been doing, it looks like it could be another learning disability too, like a speech-language disorder. For example: "Receptive Language Disorders - Receptive Language Disabilities: People with receptive language disorder may have difficulty understanding spoken language, responding appropriately, or both. This leads to substantial difficulty communicating.
477746 tn?1254784547 The med help moderators have a set of guidelines they have to go by . Some things do get moved over to the social side ,others do get deleted .If you have any particular post in mind let me know and I will see what I can find out . As for you inbox and outbox the only time med help would ever go in it is if you had inappropriate mail you wanted them to get rid off. They don't look at your messages otherwise.

333672 tn?1273792789 Lori (lbradley35) and I have been talking about the usefulness of health pages on the resources that are available to help people with various financial, work-related, and other difficulties. Lori wants to make some health pages on these topics that we can all refer to. Because of her work, Lori knows a lot about these kinds of resources (at least in the U.S.) and is very generous in sharing her knowledge. She is already working on SSI and Social Security disability.
Avatar n tn Her main area of issue is in her speech- she just turned 7 and has been in years (since 3) of speech therapy through Texas Children's Hospital and is still having difficulty staying on topic, relating to peers, expressing ideas and feelings. Now she stutters painfully through any thought she's trying to convey. Her kindergarten teacher and school faculty believed she had autism; this was ruled out after extensive testing through Tx Children's Learning Support Center.

Avatar f tn However he can scare kids off with his conversation topics and repetitive speech. One minute he is coloring nicely and another he is having a meltdown because one of his action figues is missing. Please tell me what to do. Should I try other medicine? His behavior seems to be worsening with time. I am worried he will be hard to manage in mainstream schooling. I read all of these comments of people having medication success stories. I have yet to find one that keeps him from having mood swings.
