My grandson is two years old and his mother lives in california, his father, my son, lives in Texas. Last year we had my grandson in Texas for 4 months and this year we will have him for 6 months. My question is this: Are these long visits detramental to my grandson? Is this unhealth for him to not see his mother for six months and then not see his father for 6 months? What do you recommend? I am very worried about my grandson's development.

You should definitely have your son undergo a thorough evaluation of all aspects of his development. He clearly displays some developmentally-related condition(s), and this needs to be determined. Contact Texas Children's Hospital at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. It is a very good resource, affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine. You have plenty of resources in your city.
suggested occupational therapy then speech therapy. She said that some kids who have speech delays are showing some Autistic traits that will disappear later on. My husband doesn't want him to start any therapies yet because he said he's still young & he wants to give him a time because he believes that it's not Autism. We enrolled him to a toddler class instead so he can interact with other kids because he's our only child & he doesn't have playmates.

She is left handed, does not recognize her alphabet, can barely write her name and has a speech problem. The teacher informs me quite often that she cannot sit still, disrupts others, and just "isn't getting it" as far as her school work is concerned. As our granddaughter does live with my husband and I, but we do not have legal guardianship, I am limited as to what kind of professional help I can get her without parent's permissions (another matter completely).
Long story short, I began having migraines the third trimester of my first pregnancy 4 years ago... they were sporadic, occuring every 3 to 4 months or so... In August of 2007, I suffered a passing out episode where I was revived by CPR by my husband. I went to the ER had a CT scan done and was diagnosed as having a 4mm lesion on the left frontal lobe of the brain. Non-enhancing with contrast material during CT, MRI and MRA. All three tests concluded the same diagnosis.
It seemed to loosen up my speech a little. then on the way home there were times when my speech seemed a little crazy.
I just found out from my boyfriend that he thinks I have sleep apnea also, but apparently this has happened on and off for two years and I have always snored so I assume that this would not be another sign of MND. It is just so scary.
I wish someone could help me out, I wanted to get wic in texas, since my husband lost his job 2 weeks ago Snr I haven't been working since last august. When I went to wic, they told me we need to have a source of income. I told them that my husband had a job and now is looking for a job but they denied the process asking for proof of income. my ex hubby is also dx with graves diease, he was only 23 when his thyroid crashed almost died , they gave him iodine and over dosed him and killed his thyroid so now he knows when hes weak and not coordinated his levels are off hes on 100mcg of levethyroxin and cytomel 15 mg check with your ENDO maybe your levels are off he has since graduated to aricept at 34 cause he was having trouble thinking and talking hes also born hearing impaired so we use sign language when hes not making any sen
I have a two year who goes to speech thepary as well as occpational thepary... He has always shut down when he doesn't want to do something that he doesn't want to do... But lately in occpational thepary, the lady can't get him to do work all he wants to do is play... If she forces the issue he shuts down on here and won't do anything... He doesn't make eye contact, and he is going to speech thepary because he won't say words but talks all the time...

Her main area of issue is in her speech- she just turned 7 and has been in years (since 3) of speech therapy through Texas Children's Hospital and is still having difficulty staying on topic, relating to peers, expressing ideas and feelings. Now she stutters painfully through any thought she's trying to convey. Her kindergarten teacher and school faculty believed she had autism; this was ruled out after extensive testing through Tx Children's Learning Support Center.
My son is now 6 almost 7. Developmental milestones were normal other than speech. He did not fully communicate until after 3. He has always walked on his toes and we are unable to break this. When he walks he is either spinning or flapping his arms. Sometimes he touches his middle fingers to his thumb very rapidly. All symptoms of autism, that much I know. He adjusts very well in social settings and communcates with his peers very well.
