sore tongue kids

I have sore tongue for 2 months, tongue looks normal (no white or red patches). Parts of the tongue feels asif you just burnt your tongue drinking not coffee. Months also feels dry. I have seen doctors & Dentists and they have no answer . all the blood tests are normal.

I have not started treatment yet, but my tongue is swollen and feels like it is cracked. This will be my 3rd time to do treatment in the last 20 years, but I don't recall the sore tongue. Any input will be appreciated.

Why is my tongue so sore? I have dry mouth from taking prescriptions and my tongue over a period of time has become very sore and sensitive to salt or pepper or spicy food.

i have these white lumps under my tongue and they r quite sore i dont know what they are i had them before but thye were ontop of my tongue and they went away but now i have some under my tongue

Is anyone else having any issues with their mouth? My tongue is sore and it appears to have tiny sores on the sides of it. I also have a metallic numb feeling\taste. I know it sounds weird but its the best description I can give. It is starting to hurt at times when I am eating.

I have been experiencing the same sore tongue problem on and off, I am on week 14 of interferon/riba. I find if I am able to bush my teeth right after eating it makes a difference, if I don't it flairs up. I just started using biotene toothpaste and so far my mouth seems happier. Rinsing with baking soda/water 3 to 4 times a day seems soothing and provides some relief, I read that it can help with thrush.

Has your dentist ever looked at your tongue? I have a geographic tongue and also, I have had a very sore tongue due to low........ (Well, phooey!!!!!!! I can't remember the name of it) Pregnant women need it so they don't have a baby with spina bifida. I'm sorry, I just can't remember things. You might want to get it checked.

t even drink water. They said it was caused by the tube cutting my tongue. Is your tongue just sore or swollen?

Terri It does look a bit like geographic tongue and I am trying to relax and was almost there however my tongue has cleared up for about a week twice and then developed these sore patches on the tip. They start off small a few mm in dia then expand to approx 10mm, there are about 3 no. at the moment, they have white borders in the morning which seem to wipe off, they start with tingling, then burning sensation and are tender to touch.

In regards to the flat spots on your tongue and the red burning sensation you've had on it as well, you might look into the possibilty of that being glossitis. I myself have a form of glossitis called 'geographic tongue' which is where red flat patches appear on the tongue then go away. It's caused by stress and is a harmless condition. Sometimes certain foods can trigger it as well.

My seven year old has a similar growth on the front underside of her tongue. It started out small and looked to be what we as kids called a tast bud sore. Over the course of the past 4 weeks it has grown however from a pin tip size thing to the size of the end of a pen cap. It goes from white to black in color and at times has a reddish tinge in the center. She has complained at times that it hurts.

Before I had my tooth work done I had a sore tongue but now I can not stick out my tongue very far and open my mouth. I hope someone can help me out with an answer.

After 5 days my problem has almost gone away but still very mild irritation and sore throat is there. Also my tongue is whitish but can be easily cleaned with tongue cleaner. Am continuously doing warm salty water goggling. Can any one tell what could be the problem?

I too discovered a sore on the side of my tongue on Monday. ( today is Wednesday ) it is large and really red irritated and it looks black and blue around the edge. There is also one spot that is black and blue on the end of my tongue. I do have a bad tooth or so on that side that need attention and I had the flu over the past weekend and was vomiting quite forcefully. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Hey guys my 2 months old baby hav sore on his tongue..does anyone kn what to do so it can go away..or any medicine? ?

I am just getting over a cold and during the cold I noticed an ulcer or cold sore ontop of my tongue for a few days. Now when I look under my tongue I have what looks like a peice of shin hanging down it is sore and hangs down about 1/8 of an inch. I have a red sore on my lingual fraenulum (the muscle that connect the tongue to the bottom of the mouth). It's been there for about a month now, on and off. Sometimes it swells and turns bright red, other times it is kind of white. I'm not sure if this is a severe canker sore, or a symptom of a type of mouth cancer. Please advise!! Over-the-counter options? Health care is expensive, so I'd rather not see a doctor. THANK YOU!!
