No this is not normal. Before I even knew I had a thyroid issue my throat was extremely sore. I mean to the point where I had difficulties swallowing. That next day I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism----> had the surgery and now I have hypothroidism which still *****! I hope you feel better keep us posted.

I have been experiencing neck pain below my thyroid on the left side for 2 moths, suddenly the sore neck went into one side of my throat and ear Left side. It gets worse after 5-6 pm and I have to take serious pain meds to get it to calm down. I feel like I have the flu or something But I have no fever and no other symptoms. Covid tests all negative. My doctor put my on a huge dose of augmentin and it’s not helping.

I have been having an extreme sore throat (right side only). Eating is tough. Cold food sets it off and the pain is off the charts and lasts for hours. I have no swelling and my doctor says my thyroid is normal (blood test and neck MRI). Could he be missing something. I have really no other symptoms except EXTREME pain in that spot where my thyroid is. Anybody else with same symptoms? I am really at my whitts end with this.

But everytime my neck gets extremely bad and I have an awful headache (like today) I get a horrible sore throat. I was just wondering if anyone else expirences this or knows of anyone who has. Thanks, any suggestions on how to make it feel better would be greatly appreciated.

A few months ago, I got some hyper symptoms from being on too much Synthroid. Mostly heart palps and anxiety. My endo took me off Synthroid for a few weeks and then started me at 25mcg. A few weeks later, my TSH was at 6 so he put me on 50mcg two weeks ago. Two nights ago, I had a night of insomnia and anxiety but I've been find since then except for a feeling of sore throat/throat tightness. Anyone know what's going on? Is this just a symptom of having my dose increased?

I have had a sometimes severe sore throat for over a month. Had a scope put down my throat and the doctor says everything is normal....no growths, nodules, infection, etc. He suggested that maybe I had a virus and to come back in 6 weeks if the pain was still there and then he would repeat the procedure to see if there was a change. The pain does lessen sometimes but then comes back with a vengence. Mostly it is on the right side and, of course, the ears are also involved.

My doctor just drew blood based on my symptoms but never felt my neck. Is sore throat and neck soreness a symptom of thyroid disorders? Thanks!

Ok, I know I am being silly with all my fears but seriously I am sick of this sore throat. Almost a month ago I found out I have high and low risk HPV, mild dyplasia and vag warts. I have had all other STD testing and all neg. I know oral issues from HPV are rare but my throat looks fine yet is burning and I have one of those, you need to clear your throat but nothing comes out or one in a while a tiny bit of phlem comes out.

I'm no expert but I've heard that it's like having a sore throat that won't go away. If you are suspcious, get things checked out now, rather than later.

My thyroid gland swelled up and I would get a sore throat as if muscles were squeezing around my throat. The doctors reduced my dose but the symptoms remained until I totally stopped taking it. If always felt like a muscle was squeezing around my wind pipe. It really hurt. After I have been off of the synthroid and another symptom appeared and lingers. Sometimes when I am sleepling my throat collapses and I wake up choking and gasping for air.

the front/base of my neck (thyroid??) is constantly pulsating and feels raw, not sore when I have a cold, its a soreness at the base of my throat. I have dizzy spells, weight gain, bloating, tingling in hands and feet, chronic muscle pain, and at age 13 (I am not 28) was diagnosed with JRA. I am most concern with what the pulsating of my throat. Any ideas what this is caused from???

For instance, tightness in the throat or a sore throat can be just that........ a sore throat, as mine ended up being an acute infection that had nothing to do with my thyroid at all. I often suffer from severe fatigue that has nothing to do with my thyroid; it's pernicious anemia, which can also cause quite a few of the symptoms listed above. I also have several other symptoms that are attributable to other medical issues I have; I sure this would hold true for others,as well.........

Hello, I am a 26 year old male and have been experiencing a lump like feeling in my throat for about 3 weeks. I have had trouble breathing through my mouth. I get sore throats on and off and also have woken with a nose bleed about a week ago which has never happened. I have had headaches for 4 months straight. The lump feels like my throat is about halfway open right behind my adams apple. I am worried that it may be throat cancer. Does anyone have any ideas?

Benign follicular cells. This all started when I woke up with a sore throat which has been chronic since Jan. I also have pain/spasms in the thyroid area. I have been to an ENT twice and yes my throat is irritated but no signs of cancer. The last thing I want to do is have surgery. ENT thought I might have reflux up in the throat area but my PCP says she does not think so. All my thyroid blood work is normal. She put me on 30 mcg of Armour last week to see if we can calm down this area.

Being hypothyroid can bring on viruses and colds. Even if you are not having classic symptoms the sore throat and ear pain can be a problem. I suffer that but as my TSH is lower it is less noticeable in the throat - no ear pain anymore. But the cough is there. I experience a dry cough too - but I smoke. Before I had thyroid problems I never noticed a "cough" but now it is there. Quit!!! I say to myself and that will happen MAy 17th. My sone asked me to do that for his birthday.

I went it and she started feeling my throat and said she thinks it my thyroid causing all these problems, so she sent me for a thyroid ultrasound, more blood work and a chest x-ray. Now that I got that all done with, I'm kind of worried. But then again I'm worried she sent me for the wrong testing even though I have a huge lump in my neck. What if its tonsillitis and just causing my throat to swell. Oh yeah not to mention I have had this aore throat for about 4-5 weeks now.

I had all flu symptoms very bad sore and dry throat. The doctor sent me for a blood test to check my thyroid which I have had tested in the past and its always been on the borderline . This time the test showed and increase and she said the virus could have caused this . Ive been feeling quite tired and I get hot and this triggers a panic attack or anxiety of some sort .

I take zantac 300 before going to bed, it seems to help my stomach but that thing in my throat just wont go away... I had the same allergic reaction (runny nose, rashes all over my face, sore throat, dizziness). So, this time, the pharmacist thought that the allergic reaction might be due to lactose as I am lactose intolerant, and the dyes in the medication. (Artificial colors.) He gave me Levothyroxine 25 MCG and told me to break it in half. This medication is lactose free and dye free. This time again, I had the same allergic reaction except for the sore throat because I only took it once.
